Just finished watching Matt's video of the goodies he snagged from the Ritchie Bros auction. Sam and Matt, you guys are definitely the Dynamic Duo. Have a great weekend my friend👍
"Scrappy HVAC". A wholly owned division of Scrappy Industries. Be sure to check out our other divisions: Scrappy Heavy Hauling, Scrappy Welding, and Scrappy Scrapping, and Scrappy Helps a Buddy. You rock, Sam! Always upbeat and enthusiastic. Sharing your successes and mishaps. Leading the way on your videos and being a supportive and entertaining special guest on collaboration videos for others. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. 🥲
Sam, The thing to remember about TIG welding is that it requires the welded surfaces to basically be spotless clean. After you do the area prep/sanding you have to clean it with acetone. Don't use something like carb or brake cleaner because of the chemicals used in them - they can produce dangerous fumes when hit with the heat of the torch. You also need to wipe the welding rod down to remove any surface contamination that would lead to porosity.
Sam love your content. I am a welder of all processes. But if in doubt and you are not sure hard to beat 6011 and 7018. Keep up the great work. Always fun when you and Matt collaborate.. Paul from Dorchester Ont.
Great that Clint from C&C Equipment bought it so quickly Sam. Keep those Bucks rollin in . You guys help eachother out in your own little Ecosystem of hydraulic fluid and bloody wrenches.
Isn't having friends to network with great! AreaDiesel and C&C both stepping up. Good guys getting it done. Hope your Ritchie Brothers items work out for you.
Sam you did excellent work fixing it!! Better that it is sold already!! Hope c&c make a video of it!! Amazing collaboration with Matt! Thanks for sharing
TIG is really touchy about small things. Like if the metal isn't as close to 100% clean as possible, no paint oil or rust. Another thing is unclean tungsten or filler rod. Or just the weld being able to suck air as you try to fill in a hole. Just lots of small things.
Got a late start. Had to retro fit a refrigerator for my neighbor. Just finished watching Matt. I want to see Matt maxed out in that Genie! Love rainy days! Old bricklayer
re pin replacement @ 40:00'ish ... my great uncle Thaddeus Malcolm always put rusty crusty pins in his lathe and polished then with emery cloth. I don't recall how he cleaned the shafts but it was probably a wire buffer in a drill. I remember asking if time taken to polish the made a difference and all he said was, "sometimes." He was a man of few words. 🙂 Good video!
They say if you do what you really like doing, and it pays the bills, you'll never work a day in your life. I think you nailed it. Always a good video.
We like your 2 cool Supervisors...We don't thick scrappy and DIESAL CREEK COULD DO ANYTHING WITHOUT MEATBALL AND BUSTER AND SCRAPPY BLACK LAB AND YELLOW LAB,,DOGS ARE PRETTY COOL ...😊😅😮😢🎉😂❤❤😂😂😂
Hi Sam. Came over from DC who I’ve been watching for years. You’ve been helping him for a long time. You have excellent fab skills. So I’m along for the ride. Keep the good content coming. Thanks.
Speaking of IC Weld if you haven’t checked out his UA-cam channel lately, do so. You won’t believe what he is involved with now. I can’t wait for part 2!
Thanks for the video, enjoyed watching, it seems to be all the little details that trip a guy up (referring to the ram), appreciate you taking us thru the repairs.
Great video sam they r getting a good machine can’t wait to c more progress on the bay city & if anyone hasn’t seen C&C equipment should check em out on the UA-cam’s lol
Fun video - from heavy duty repair to AC... Nice work. I think the second pin was started into the hole when Sam pulled out a 'persuader'. But maybe by releasing pressure from the fork lift it would have wiggled into place without so much effort. Just a thought. Still, this guy has skill.
Man-i got to give you kudo's--I m impresed by the work you turn out in that shop-by yourself--and a young man, too. Wow! Just please be careful--youngblood!
Nice work, Sam. Hey, you know when you were installing the second pin, you found it difficult, right? Even though you used two hammers and a lot of huffing n puffing. Well, guess what. You remember the holes you looked through using the light on your phone. They are for easy pin access. All you had to do was use a 2' rod of a smaller diameter. Line it up on the pin and hammer away. Pin removal is where they become really useful. I'm just saying that from the outside looking in and one who has done many pin removals, I knew how best to get that pin in from the get-go. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, too, isn't it.😉⚒️🏴
You have tons of good attitude needed to do things you had to do on this ram. On Fire Welding and Snowball Engineering are also great big iron welding channels. Cheers!
When TIG welding, it is imperative that the metal be completely clean of any contamination, such as oil, grease, or hydraulic fluids. Hope this helps also I use denature alcohol went tig welding and clean white rags...
Hey Sam how you doing? Just want to say I love your content and I learned about you through your buddy Matt. I watch your channels all the time. I'm no professional welder but I know that when your TIG welding when you're done performing the actual weld hold the TIG torch over the weld until it cools sometimes it needs the shielding gas to keep that air away from the weld pool. I guess another thing to check would to see that you had enough shielding gas in the tank and if so was it turned up enough? I know you know what you're doing these are just my thoughts. Keep up the good work appreciate your videos and your humor. Peace
Sam,you could’ve welded a couple of stops along side the piston to keep the thumb from getting too close especially when it starts to wear at the joints 😉
Didja change the filter dryer? If its been open or leaking long you need to. And get a halogen leak checker for certain its not leaking refrigerant. 49:44
I hope your floor drain changes go to a oil dump prior to going to ground or septic. I ran a mock that with shafting oil once DHEC not thrilled with oil discharge even on accident. Watch testing hydraulic repairs over the drains.
Enjoyed your show, like to see ya work on the1950 A30H or A40H Mack truck, because I used to own a unrestored 1950 Mack A30H single axel truck, that I don't have any more,it would be great to see your being work in progress, catch ya on the next one.
Hey Sam where your welding that hole in the side of that cyclinder did you have too smooth the inside too, or didn't the ram come down that far and hit it
Hey Sam, you need to watch Kurtis from Cutting Edge Engineering from Australia. He pretty much only works on heavy equipment and is one hell of a machinist and welder. He also explains a lot as he goes.
Dude! Your pin installation efforts at the 40:00 minute mark, did you notice the two holes in the frame work whereby you could insert a rod through and strike it with your whammer?
Free Pro Tip: 52:01 NEVER use any sort of miracle stop leak on ANY A/C system, automotive or not. The secondary side effects are always worse than the inmidiate results you're expecting. Fix it right, fix it once and you won't need any of those "snake oil" sealers. I would've checked the oil in the new compressor to make sure it had green/yellow dye in it and just charge the system.
20:49 Yeah I agree! Isaac @I C Welds is just amazing with his torch! He cuts stuff sometimes that looks better than a plasma table would've done. 👍🏻👌🏻👨🏻🏭⚡💥💨
I.C.Weldz is a master of his craft!!
Also excellent at explaining what he is doing and why.
Very humble human!
Just finished watching Matt's video of the goodies he snagged from the Ritchie Bros auction. Sam and Matt, you guys are definitely the Dynamic Duo. Have a great weekend my friend👍

I came here from watching Matt with Diesel Creek and was not disappointed. Now I have two channels I love watching with my Sunday morning coffee!

Love your content really good program to watch, I like how meticulous you are and you don’t half ass anything organized, no junk sitting around
Isn't having friends to network with great! AreaDiesel and C&C both stepping up. Good guys getting it done. Hope your Ritchie Brothers items work out for you.
I've been watching you, Matt, Clint, MBTS and Curtis from Australia, so I guess that makes me an expert on welding.

I SEE MATT IS DOING GOOD AS WELL . GOOD TO SEE YOU BOTH LOOKING OUT FOR EACH OTHER. NOW GET YOUR REAR END BACK TO WORK LAD 😊😊😊😊
C.W. McCall, "Classified"!!!!
My favorite line is, "that's a long story, Harold".
Sam you did excellent work fixing it!! Better that it is sold already!! Hope c&c make a video of it!! Amazing collaboration with Matt! Thanks for sharing
Clint’s the best I watch his channel religiously. He’ll give it a good home.👍👍

Clean filler rod is a MUST!
Got a late start. Had to retro fit a refrigerator for my neighbor. Just finished watching Matt. I want to see Matt maxed out in that Genie! Love rainy days! Old bricklayer
How cool that you and Clint are doing business like this.
Definitely watch IC Weld, He is the Master! Great video Scrappy!
Reminds me of that old admonition to: "Measure twice, cut once!"
re pin replacement @ 40:00'ish ... my great uncle Thaddeus Malcolm always put rusty crusty pins in his lathe and polished then with emery cloth. The HD12.0 on the Milwaukee light had me dying 🤣 Good job on that cylinder rework!

Literally blood, sweat, and tears to maintain these machines! Great tutorial on what you are doing and why.
His friend Matt from diesel creek is the same way explains down to the t of what he is doing as well you should go check him out as well
Speaking of IC Weld if you haven’t checked out his UA-cam channel lately, do so. You won’t believe what he is involved with now. I can’t wait for part 2!
As I was watching the video I thought to myself "I wonder if Clint from C&C would be interested in it" and sure enough he bought it..😃😃
Great watch it looked and sounded awesome nice work Sam 👍👋🇨🇦
Thanks for the video, enjoyed watching, it seems to be all the little details that trip a guy up (referring to the ram), appreciate you taking us thru the repairs.
outstanding and awesome as always.thanks for sharing and taking us along

"Raise it Down..." - perfection!

9:50 The hardest part of UA-cam is not cussing when the wrench slips!!!
You have tons of good attitude needed to do things you had to do on this ram.
On Fire Welding and Snowball Engineering are also great big iron welding channels.
Cheers!
30:53 Very cool effect with the grinding sparks into the camera, but hell on the lens. Better check for pitting.
Those graydolls are nice we couldn’t have built half of the stuff around here without it.
I See Weld is one of the First Subscriptions, He is Amazing Talented. Texas or Arizona Maybe?? BadAss He is Indeed
Great job Sam tidy looking machine onwards and upwards buddy take care and have a good weekend 👍👌🐾🐾🦴🦴🔧🔧🔧❤️
New subscriber. Got here by 1.- Warren at Western Truck and Tractor repair , then 2.- Diesel Creek, then to you! Kindest regards, Bill 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Great fix up learned a lot in this show about air condition fun watching the welding moving the cylinder hydraulic line port
26:00 ooooo, look at the fancy new welding gloves.
When TIG welding, it is imperative that the metal be completely clean of any contamination, such as oil, grease, or hydraulic fluids. Hope this helps also I use denature alcohol went tig welding and clean white rags...
Nice videos Sam. Cheers from OZ, Evan...
Nice job Sam.

hello Sam & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks Sam & Friends Randy
Didja change the filter dryer? If its been open or leaking long you need to. And get a halogen leak checker for certain its not leaking refrigerant. 49:44
Super Troopers quote to top it off. Great video. Are you gonna set my country music award on fire?
A man of many talents love the content.
The vacuum lowers the atmosphere in the system allowing any water/moisture to boil off also removing any air in the process.
I hope your floor drain changes go to a oil dump prior to going to ground or septic. I ran a mock that with shafting oil once DHEC not thrilled with oil discharge even on accident. Watch testing hydraulic repairs over the drains.
When i weld thick steel i heat up the base metal or both if both are thick with ur oxy torch to cherry red.
Great job mate keep it up
Nice work, Sam 👍

Great repair Sam great video thanks
Ya know somehow I knew Clinton would be involved somewhere along the line bro. Great video by the way. Safe travels. Ken.
Good content! Good seeing your channel grow too. 👍
Grinder and paint makes me the welder I ain’t!
I love the obscure CW McCall references. I’m sure not many people understood why you said “peanut butter don’t agree with him see.”
Hey Sam, you need to watch Kurtis from Cutting Edge Engineering from Australia. He pretty much only works on heavy equipment and is one hell of a machinist and welder. He also explains a lot as he goes.
The little bubbles are called sillicium you need to grind it away and refill the gap
Dude! Your pin installation efforts at the 40:00 minute mark, did you notice the two holes in the frame work whereby you could insert a rod through and strike it with your whammer?
Wish DIESAL CREEK AND SCRAPPY SHOULD TEAM UP MORE ON PROJECTS......😊😅😮😢🎉😂❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂
Felt the pain on that clip , great filming Sam , catch you on the next episode 😅
I watch IC Weld myself, he is good, and I learned some cool stuff from him too.
Great Video you got a beautifull toolbox 👍
You also may enjoy Cutting edge engineering and snowball engineering. IC weld is great
Just watched Matt and yer in Ritchie. Gday mate. From Christmas Island.

Sam your the Man, when it comes to fixing big equipment, your the guy to have👍👍😎😎🍮🍮
Love the videos. Just subscribed last night
Thanks
The was a nice ending to a great video.
HOPEFULL YOU HAVE A WAY TO CLEAN OUT THE BORE WITH WHAT IS NOW INSIDE THE CYLINDER FROM YOUR WELDING!!!
where can I get that wire clamp on that tachometer? the round one with the green wire through it.
That’s called a P clip. McMaster Carr has them in any size you want
Interesting to see that the vgt is not using full travel when rev'ed up with no load. Seems there is some thinking behind it :-)
5:25 What happened to the 'body work' chain pull? I was anxious to see how your welds & that good ol antique chain you had held up.😅😅
7:13 I actually guessed C&C_Equipment, instead of ADS😅😅
20:49 Yeah I agree! Isaac @I C Welds is just amazing with his torch! He cuts stuff sometimes that looks better than a plasma table would've done. 👍🏻👌🏻👨🏻🏭⚡💥💨
Did you clean your tip before you cut any of it first .
Well done Sam
