The only USA channel who I watch that uses a 5 inch grinder with the guard on. You only need 1 cut off disc to disintergrate and cut you up before thinking, YES a guard IS a good idea..
I'm a big fan of Monty Python. Nudge nudge wink wink say no more. Thank you for adding that little snippet of joy. Us Brits of a particular age remember the simpler times when humour was clean and simple.🍻😁🏴
Sam would be a fantastic, legendary instructor for all mechanics or soon to be mechanics to learn from. I appreciate the detailed explanation and instructions. No lame music 🎶 to struggle with. Dogs, 🐕 cool projects delivered with sincerity and precision. Does not get any better than this.
Hey Sam, that truck is really coming together now. Well done, and thanks for sharing. You truly are a Jack-of-All-Trades. And with the work on the tank and the front wheels, I think you've added another division to Scrappy industries: "Scrappy Polishing". The list, according to my records, now stands at: Scrappy Industries Divisions: • Scrappy Heavy Hauling • Scrappy Machining • Scrappy Welding • Scrappy Hydraulics • Scrappy Mobile Crane • Scrappy Marine - The Ski Nautique boat with the Ford 351 engine with a rusty distributor. • Scrappy European Auto Repair - The diesel BMW that accidentally drank some petrol. • Scrappy Scrapping • Scrappy Electric • Scrappy Polishing • Scrappy Landscape Removal • Scrappy Combine Harvesting • Scrappy Video Productions • Scrappy Helps Buddy
Give Loctite 545 a try on your fluid fittings. I had a leaky 3000 lb hydraulic fitting on a John Deere tractor 6 years ago that I could not get to stop leaking. I tried Teflon no go. Someone told me about 545, used it and to this very day, it has not leaked one drop. I use it on every fluid fitting on the farm except residential plumbing. Not one single leak on anything ever.Try it you'll like it!
Back in the 80’s and early 90’s I worked at a shop that specializes all things tow trucks and as a result I installed lots of PTO’s and Hydraulic pumps. One of the things we did was I make our own mounting bracket/tab instead of that two piece weld together setup was we would tack the two pieces together and then use that as a template to trace our our 1 piece bracket/tab. Additionally we fabbed up a cutout for the PTO that was based off rpm of the engine and a pump cutoff switch based on hydraulic pressure
Yelling at Seri, I was die’n ova here.😂 Funny how she’s always listening when you don’t want her to then when you’re stuck under a truck she’s rock’n out not paying attention. 😂
You just do it all and not afraid to show some oopses. You do have some talent. I'd like to send a dog treat dispenser for the side of the tool box. Good video.
Firstly, happy Independence Day, to friends and family. Sam, my buddy, back in the 80's turned the cooler sideways, and made up a set of louvers, for one side. The fin side, was towards the transmission about 2 inches below, with the louver openings towards the rear. With a gear pump, run by a modified wiper motor, to circulate the gear oil. Air flow, due to the venturi effect, was all that was needed. This system worked wonderfully in the Canadian Rockies, fully loaded on the long 6 and 7% grades. The temps would stay roughly 10°F above normal.
Great job Sam keeping your equipment maintained and up to code takes a tremendous effort and you take it a step further by keeping it clean and looking good Shows you take pride in what you’ve done and own
I have used the field replaceable fittings on many hydraulic lines, and I have never had one fail. You are the first person I have heard with failures. I use a double wire hose, and the fittings that match. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Damn i hate using dump pumps for wet kit application. I do agree on the hate for "scotch locks", those should be illegal. Ford is looking amazing, and your tank mount spacer idea is perfect! Old trucks always need work! Reminds me of the adage of how girlfriends and go-karts are alike. You ride them for a half hour on the weekend and work on them the whole next week.
Well Sam you are getting an education on this install, and we just had to put our 7 year old Beagle down, she had a tumor on her spleen, if they took her spleen out, she'd only have about another 8-9 months of life, so we decided to put her out of pain and discomfort I'm still missing her. Dave D.
Absolutely love the channel and the content two of my favorite trucks please don’t stop or change what yer doing especially when you and Matt are each others channels it’s great awsome videos thank you happy 4th
I used to drag a apron trailer. I always struggled with the wet connections. Later on, I pulled an ag trailer that had a wet kit and it had quick disconnect couplers. I liked those a lot better. Truck looks sweet!
I think from memory it was myself that mentioned the rain and the similarity to Scotland and in the last 3 weeks that’s not changed, our black lab is 12 in August and he’s really got old in the last 7 months and unlike every other lab I’ve had he is thin and quite easily lifted up into our pickup 🏴👍🏻
It's always a pleasure to watch someone else doing the work! I learned that lesson the hard way too -- as soon as you're finished draining the oil, the drain pan gets removed and emptied. Most of our trailers work off the truck hydraulics. On the quad axle float the ramps and lift axles work off the truck hydraulics, but the massive winch (30T from memory) needs an auxiliary power pack. Originally it was all plumbed to work off the little onboard Honda power pack (now removed), but the winch barely moved and the truck hydraulics weren't much faster! The big trailer mounted unit powers it in/out at a decent rate, although we hardly ever use the winch. Better to have it and not need it, than vice versa!
Great work this will be a dry work shop or ur planning to put some heat for the equipment u will be storage in . Thank you for all the hard work and blessings to u and senior plus fam 🙏
I run an old truck as well. My low air buzzer doesn’t work either. Worried I’d get popped for it I did a little research and found that: as long as you have a pressure gauge and either a buzzer OR indicator lamp, mucho bueno! Good to go
That is a great looking truck young man. Nice set up on the wet line kit, I like your attention to detail and your thinking on repairs and upgrades, thanks for the update, enjoyed watching, appreciate your time.
I have a PTO on my ten speed freightliner .Run a vacuum pump with right angle gear box and a Lovejoy coupling. When I engage my PTO. I put clutch down to engage the clutch brake. Also put transmission in gear while flipping the PTO switch put transmission in neutral while letting the clutch out. It seems to grind less that way
Sam, that was a fun watch. That Ford is almost too purtty to put it to work. Love how well adjusted to shop noises your dogs are, obviously you trained them well. Reminds me of when my Lab was a puppy, I would bring her into the garage and showed her the noisy equipment and while petting her I would place one of her paws on the running machine, she leaned and never was afraid. Thanks for sharing 👍 - HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO ALL 🇺🇸
Old truck that is newer boy it sure looks and sounds awesome well done Sam now to see a big load on looking forward to that video you have a gem there enjoy 👍👋🇨🇦
When I needed to change a automatic trans at home on the floor I made a flat plate with a piece of pipe welded onto the bottom smaller than the diameter of the pedestal cup so it could be rocked back and forth up and down front to back then things didn't fall off and get damaged. You could add a strap and it would work just like a tyranny jack..
Some Parker stuff has been made at my old workplace here in Sweden. Various kinds of sticks mostly. Manufacturing was moved "elsewhere" some 10 years ago. Mostly to the U.S. I think, but could just as well have been elsewhere...
Nice video Sam in the early 90,s i worked for a car carrying company that ran all Fords L9000,s and a few like your but they all ran series60,s but only base models not as nice as your old girl .if i may make a comparison your like the high Tech Diesel Creek those spacer blocks were killer ,but i enjoy both you guys channels Matt said your channel was worth a look he was right 😊😊😊 Cheers kym Adelaide
The oil cooler is a bit close to the exhaust heat? It also will be venerable to damage and dirt and stones ! The cooler could mount alongside the fuel tank, directly beneath the chassis rail ? If you really wanted to cook oil ,find a unit from an automatic truck which often uses a cooler with a fan and shroud. Thanks for the on ground install .
Great video for independence day. %99 of guys I know that drive truck couldn't run a lathe to save their life. You're at the top of your industry.
60% are steering wheel holders!
Well it turned out great just a lot of under truck work great video thanks Sam
He's a machinist that drives a truck on the side.
I drove for 25 years. I can use a lathe, weld, and any other machine shop tools. Guess I'm the 1 percent, huh?
The only USA channel who I watch that uses a 5 inch grinder with the guard on. You only need 1 cut off disc to disintergrate and cut you up before thinking, YES a guard IS a good idea..
I agree 100%. Sometimes you have to take it off but I try to avoid it

Love to see a man actually finish a good job unlike some other sites .,Pride is alive in you and it wont die ever. Thank you for this work story

Been installing PTO for 50 years and you are right, a little loose is better than to tight!

Your Grandpa would be so PROUD!!!
On your steering tires. A set of bridgestone 844s with offset aluminum rims. Would look cool on that truck

Seri I a spy tool, shut it off
I hate that spying bitch just like any other AI utility they all act like spyware to me
Got an 89 LTL in Australia. Still working. Great old trucks.
You just do it all and not afraid to show some oopses. You do have some talent. I'd like to send a dog treat dispenser for the side of the tool box. Good video.
Good to watch someone who really knows what he's about.

The 9000 is my favorite truck body.
Man i still love seeing those LTL fords still on the road.
Hey Sam, “That never happens”… sounds like our shop too! ;)
Great video. I love your enthusiasm, don’t see that much these days. You have the tools and the talent to do the job right. Awesome.
I liked this video. Thanks for taking us along.🏁🏁🏁
I never seen a truck shop with all the equipment. You got sam.
One of my favorite channels.
You have got the old Ford looking a treat. Always liked the styling of the Ford trucks 👍
Scrappy Sam, it's good to see you have a video out today.
Awesome and outstanding as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Great job Sam keeping your equipment maintained 😀
Sam you are the best, I have only one criticism, please please please don't weld next to aerosol cans, 💥
My gf loves it when I watch your videos when we are getting busy. 🎉
I have used the field replaceable fittings on many hydraulic lines, and I have never had one fail. You are the first person I have heard with failures. I use a double wire hose, and the fittings that match. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Great job on the additions and the maintenance. The old Ford is looking all shiny again!
Love these old Ford trucks. I remember when they were a real competitor in the market. We had an old 850 that was bulletproof! Thanks for the video! 👍
Damn i hate using dump pumps for wet kit application.

Thanks Sam, was really looking forward to this update. Really enjoy watching your videos. Can't wait to see the next Mini-Mack video!
Nice work. Really nice work. The truck looks spectacular. Happy hauling. 👍👍👍

52:52 Love the reference!! Eric Idle is amazing.
Eric Idle is not dead
@afberglund2764 I stand corrected. Could've sworn I saw an obit for him a couple years back. I was probably just wrong. 🤷♂️🤦♂️
As always, you have done an excellent job. And this is a very cool old Ford. Thanks for that! That was very entertaining on Sunday here in Germany.
Man , that’s what I want to do on my Mack! Thanks for showing me how to do it 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
The polish job looked fantastic 🦘
We can see better with new lights you put in..them small projects do add up...but we get some good to watch...with the inspector. 🐾🐕🐾
Great job and best of all: you always finish the project - congratulations
Great work this will be a dry work shop or ur planning to put some heat for the equipment u will be storage in . Thank you for all the hard work and blessings to u and senior plus fam 🙏
Good morning Sam! Happy 4th of July to everybody. 🎉🎊🎇🎆
I'm right there with you on that transfer pump. My five gallon bucket manual was on its last legm worth every penny.
Great job the truck looks great, we had a 1986 9000 brings back memories. Have a happy 4th of July
Had a 94 Ltl 9000 with a Cat and 13 spd. Best truck i had.
That really wasn't to bad of a job for you. Only took 56mins, you should be proud, most people can't work that fast😂😂😂
Sammie, If it was easy, anyone could do it. You and ole Diesel Creek take on some real interesting projects, thanks for the details.
I've made hydrolic hoses with those ends myself. Nice!
FORD (Found On Road Dead) you are keeping your Ford on the road for another day. Great job Sam!
That is a really nice lathe, no bearing noise, and looks like the runout is good.
You and Jake did a great job. What a sweet ride
Brilliant video Sam watching from Edinburgh Scotland UK 🇬🇧 , happy independence day Sam
OMG, SOOOO FUNNY!!!
Suitcase connectors suck for outside use, but wiring a buzz line for your model railroad, they work great, LOL Ron
My favorite truck I ever owned or drove. Was totaled on job site by a 350 cat excavator. Was a great truck!
Jeez poor girl!
Really like your giving that beast of a Ford the attention it deserves. Ford's best that body style in particular.
Thanks!
Man Sam that was job buddy but they usually are. Great work and what a polish job. Looks brand new 👍👍
One of the best that I have seen. Well done. Very entertaining first thing in the morning in NZ.
I run an old truck as well. My low air buzzer doesn’t work either. Worried I’d get popped for it I did a little research and found that: as long as you have a pressure gauge and either a buzzer OR indicator lamp, mucho bueno! Good to go
Also, back up warning buzzer works as a stand-in for the light and (IMHO) better.
That is a great looking truck young man. Nice set up on the wet line kit, I like your attention to detail and your thinking on repairs and upgrades, thanks for the update, enjoyed watching, appreciate your time.
We had reusable fittings at the shop I worked at loved em.
It seems to grind less that way
As always bro it made for great viewing and the truck looks right purdy too. Safe travels. Ken.
Sam, i really really love that ford. What a beauty.
The Big Louie is looking great there, Sam 🤟🏼 Kudos for the wet kit install too 🙂
Loved the video! Would love for you to do a video on how the lowboy trailer works, is attached together.
Looks like a nice shop set up. First video of yours I have watched.
Sam, that was a fun watch. That Ford is almost too purtty to put it to work.

Good morning,
Nice work.
What a beautiful truck, bravo!
Would not put trans cooler there will hit something put up on frame you have great stuff enjoy all of it thanks for your effort
Man, that truck and trailer is going to work really nice for Matt's auction finds. :)
"SEMIE" as well Sam. I watch Highway Through Hell & HR 401. Both are Canadian wreck/recovery shows done by Discovery.
Love the old trucks, the new one's are nothing but Chineseum Krap
That was much fun, thank you. Better you than I!!!
When I needed to change a automatic trans at home on the floor I made a flat plate with a piece of pipe welded onto the bottom smaller than the diameter of the pedestal cup so it could be rocked back and forth up and down front to back then things didn't fall off and get damaged. Thanks Sam love the videos and Happy 4th of July and I Enjoy the video .
Wow is a beauty you did a great job Sam 👍 👍
Brother you have two killer tractors but I gotta put the Ford 9000 first even though the Mac Super is really cool.
Really enjoyed the video.
Some Parker stuff has been made at my old workplace here in Sweden. Various kinds of sticks mostly. Manufacturing was moved "elsewhere" some 10 years ago. Mostly to the U.S. I think, but could just as well have been elsewhere...
Not gonna lie, I recoiled when that PTO rolled off the jack...
Great video Sam, thanks for sharing the process!!
Any time!
Happy 4 th. Looks like your dripping liquid gold out of the 5-gal pump. HAVE A GREAT DAY!
Nice video Sam in the early 90,s i worked for a car carrying company that ran all Fords L9000,s and a few like your but they all ran series60,s but only base models not as nice as your old girl .if i may make a comparison your like the high Tech Diesel Creek those spacer blocks were killer ,but i enjoy both you guys channels Matt said your channel was worth a look he was right 😊😊😊
