Yeah as a thing that is functional for something in game they kinda mean nothing. But they mean a ton to me just for the feel of the ship. I installed LED floodlights on the hatch of my 4x4 for late night camp setups and actually love rolling into camp at 12am and getting the party started. Now I can do that on the dark side of Daymar. And ship tractor beams still feel terrible to me so I wont miss that as I never use them. Not melting the CL quite yet. But I see it coming to free up some creds to rebuy my Taurus.
I absolutely adore the Taurus so I completely get that sentiment. My only worry is the size of that ship making soloing it unfeasable when engineering comes online! I feel you about those floodlights though, is it too much to ask to get them on all ships 😅

For me, it's more about the feeling than utility, and since I'm an exploration guy, I would always take the ES over the CL, even if the CL might have more utility in the game right now.
Keep in mind there isn't really any exploration gameplay right now! If you want to talk a little deeper about what starter or pack would be best for ya, feel free to hop in the discord :)
Fantastic overview! Looking forward to the CL Video. I'm curious to know if the habitation section mirrors the ES on both sides of the ship or if it's been reduced since the cargo section is expanded or if it's a non-issue. Either way, Good stuff!
The "max crew" is all over the place. The Freelancer lists 4 crew max even though it's a 2-man ship, and lists the Cutlass as a 2-man ship even though it has a pilot seat, copilot seat, and a turret gunner. In most cases, the maximum crew number seems to solely be based on how many bed slots it has.
Why can't CIG implement sizes for cargo hauling? I couldn't even fit 96 SCU in my Zeus. I could fit half and I have the cargo version. Really irritates me.
I ended up buying the ZEUS ES, but idk. I might melt it and get the F7C Hornet MK II. I already have a hauling ship and an exploration ship. So the only thing going for the Zeus for me is the looks.
The ES is a large version of the Cutter Ramble (ES has more crew and space, but the same functionality); and is a down grade from the CL (losing 96 SCU cargo space is not worth the added conveniences). The bellow changes would make the ES worthwhile. As an explorer, the ES needs a Tier 2 or 1 Med Bed (but without respawn), this can be placed as a 4th bunk. The ES has poor maneuverability, making its forward facing guns limited in use, and leaves a major blind spot topside that will be taken advantage of. Replace the nose guns with a topside turret (2 x S3). One or both turrets should act as forward firing weapons for the pilot, unless someone mans the turret. While an Ursa would be great for exploring, I'm not counting on CIG allowing it; but a snap grid for cargo should be added to the front left cargo bay, because carrying a vehicle tends to block the current snap grid.
Its not really a down grade dude. Not all people wants cargo. Me I have taurus for that but if its just cargo I'd prefer raft or hull. That tight door is quite a pain for cargo loading. If carrying ground vehicle I'd rather use connies, corsairs and starlifters. Plus its an explorer it'll have a different gameplay in the future but for me that fuel cap and extra shield more than enough to compensate for loss of scu cap.

Storing tractors in the cargo hold is probably the best solution. The reason to not have guns there anymore is just the hangar or landing zone thieves who can sneak on board and smash and grab :D

I would gladly own a 400i again if I could fit a ROC in it, but I am not going to shoot the light bar off the damn thing every time I want to use it.
It looks good that’s about it , it performs not so great and a vulture can take it down. So yeah. Handling is very sub par. Speed is really bad as well, is not a fighting ship this is true but it’s so bad that it won’t keep you a live so don’t fall for its looks only to become an easy target every minute you fly this thing.
That ship looks so cool, fast and maneuverable but it's slow, clumsy, fragile and massively undergunned. Based on its stats, nobody would want it and I have to wonder why they would make such a poor performing ship that is weaker than ALL its competitors. I just don't see their reasoning.
For me the zeus is really really ugly unfortunately(from outside). I was really hyped to buy it because it fits my needs perfectly but the look of it feels super cheap to me for some reason... The Starlancer is a beauty though
The quality of your videos is indisputable, but they don't give a sense what it's like to be inside a ship. Even walking up the rear ramp, you cut from the ground directly into the cargo hold. You also didn't walk through the ship, you cut from section to section, even seat to seat inside the cockpit. There wasn't a single wide shot of the cockpit. You also played commercial footage multiple times that already played at the beginning of the video. You might benefit from a wider FOV when you're not showcasing specific elements, or at least not trimming the aspect ratio, makes it feel less claustrophobic to watch. Not trying to hate, this just isn't what I expect of a tour.
Just went and double checked: ua-cam.com/video/71uiBVajvFE/v-deo.htmlsi=63QzLNYXGEi4KrgQ around the 50 minute mark. Seems as though the intention is for it to be permanent for now. As they say, the only thing that is permanent is change though, so who knows where it'll end up!
Just saying, but the three bunk beds are not escape pods. The freelancer has them, but not this ship. At some point they were said to be, but that feature was most likely scrapped
It doesn't punch above it's weight lol. You're just classifying it wrong. Notice how you said it competes against the Cutless-Black, C1 and Freelancer? Well if you look at each of these ships you'll see some distinguishing features that really sets them apart. The Zeus does not compete with the Cutless, C1, or base Freelancer. It DOES compete with the Freelancer Max however. And while it wins in 8 scu more, arguably the design language, and probably speed, the Zeus can't hold the same type of vehicle cargo that the Max can. It probably won't be as durable either. It's like a tug of war between those two. But something I've seen content creators do is cram these ships together into one competition that frankly, I don't even think should exist. Dev's have silently made it impossible to cram another 32 scu crate into the C1 to make that point known I'm guessing... They've also put the price bracket further away from the likes of the Cutless-Black and C1. Another point to consider. And while they all share a similar footprint overall, they simply aren't on the same levels across the board. If that were the case, the base Freelancer should compete with the Max, and the Zeus CL should compete with the Constellation Taurus. But they don't. They are direct underlings to each of those larger, more capable ships.
It's in a pretty awkward middle spot between the c1/cuttie and the connie imo. I just personally don't enjoy the MAX at all, its age is very apparent as you use it as a daily. I mention that each of these has their advantages but that awkward price positioning does make the comparison awkward. I do hope to make a more detailed video vs the MAX, but it's so close to a taurus maybe that needs to be included as well. Either way, thank you for your thoughts :)
@Space-Tech If it's close to the Taurus then so is the Max? Being that it's only 8 scu less, and what it lacks in scu, it makes up for with a wide cargo bay. It does fit above the cutty black/C1 but below the Taurus for obvious reasons. That places it shoulder to shoulder with the Max. CiG has named all of these ships medium cargo haulers so, doesn't really help.
Don't forget... in the future only T1 Medical Beds will be able to respawn you if you die out in the field. Don't plan your ships for the state of the game in it's current guise, because that WILL change. Being able to carry a Medical URSA is only useful now for respawn but that won't be the case when the game goes live. Benig able to fix T3 injuries though, is very useful no doubt.
Don't forget that we don't know that yet and it isn't confirmed. In the past that was the case with the T1 beds, but looks like this is changing. I have no double there will be disadvantages to a T3 bed respawn (as their should be), but there is nothing mentioned recently to suggest they'll change the T3 beds back to be non-respawn capable. It's anyone's guess at this point, there is nothing definitive right now.
@@JL-rj9fl Well, the devs actually confirmed this change but made T3 beds able to respawn us as a temporary thing - thre was a whole Q&A on it. It was all outlined when the Medical Ursa was first concepted for release.
@@Nemoticon That is straight up missinformation. They haven't confirmed anything in that regard and if anything they confirmed the opposite in that the respawn for all beds will stay even if further adjusted in the future to have a clear distinct advantage for higher quality beds on dedicated medical ships for example. They confirmed that much on the QA and SCLs but not in which way exactly. They already play with the idea of having different distances at which you can respawn and with the resource network stuff in upcomming updates limiting the amount of respawns beds can perform by consuming resources could also be a thing and t3 beds can of course not heal all injuries and may even degrade your character faster when respawning which could become a big deal whenever that stupid death of a spaceman concept chris roberts came up with a decade ago comes into play, if that even happens at all, which they even stated in the QA that respawn itself is just a small part of.
@@BizzMRK They already stated in their Q&A what their intentions are. T3 beds being able to respawn you is only a temporary thing, enjoy it while it lasts.

ES and CL have same durability
Until armor comes in, then we know that the extra armor of the CL will come into play :)
@@Space-Tech will change 10 times all over before the game moves anywhere anyway
4:15 the respawn capability of the nursa is temporary and will be removed.
The max is cheaper and can hold an rover, cig strikes again 😢
But that pilot visibility though 😭
02:01 You stole this ship didn't you? :P lmao
Borrowed it off of a very kind soul: Ross K in the verse!
corsair still king even after nerf
The design of that ship will never not be iconic
Just saying, but the three bunk beds are not escape pods. The freelancer has them, but not this ship.
At some point they were said to be, but that feature was most likely scrapped
They are still escape pods according to the sale, have you seen this updated anywhere? I'm not sure where else the escape pods would be?
You don't know how to use the sea shells? 😂😂
Oh I agree its close to the MAX no doubt about it. I'm just saying they are both close to the Taurus.
@@Nemoticon Thanks, I'll have to go back and check it again.
Really starting to hate star citizen, another update that changed almost everything about flight.
Something changes in an Alpha game, who would've thought?
