A few things to note about Columbus from a lifelong Columbus resident. First, with the big university and the state government located here, the Columbus economy handles recessions extremely well and unemployment is always lower than the national average. Second, unlike Cleveland and Cincinnati, the suburbs of Columbus have not boxed Columbus in and that is why Columbus can continue to grow. Third, with three big freshwater reservoirs north of Columbus, Columbus will never experience water shortages like so many other places have experienced. Fourth and maybe most importantly, if climate change continues at its current pace, in 50 years or maybe less Columbus and other Midwestern cities will be the places to live with the coasts flooding, the south too hot and too many hurricanes, and the west too dry with too many fires. These changes are already taking place and all we worry about here is the very rare but still devastating tornado. Ohio has nowhere near as many tornadoes as TX, OK, KS, NE, IA, MO, IL, AR, LA, MS, and AL, but still an occasional one.

Ohio in general construction NEVER ends 😂 I’m from piqua, live in Sidney and travel to Dayton and Cbus frequently to hang out with friends so I’m always driving through construction 😂😭
It never ends because they hardly work. Most of the time that I would drive by a construction site and there’s never anyone there, even at night. Shit sometimes I wonder if they even started. It just seems to take years to fix the smallest shit whereas a country like China would finish in a fraction of the time.
Moved in Columbus with work-from Florida. True is road construction takes much longer than in other places- I noticed that is a favorite Road Contractor (Total General Construction LLC) that’s moving like a turtle. Starting work at 9 and ends up at 3, very few workers acting and few equipment in use - I’d be fired in my business if I’d slack like that.
I’m originally from Cleveland OH. Right after highschool I moved to scottsdale AZ for college 2.5 years and then moved to Denver for 5 years then moved back to AZ for the last 3 years. I am looking to relocate in about a year when my lease is up. I am looking to start a family and settle down and wanna be closer to my family and friends back in Cleveland however Cleveland seems very run down to me and the people seem absolutly misserable everytime I visit. I feel like Columbus could be a happy medium of being close to family but still have that medium-bigger city vibe. Do you think Columbus is growing more and has more to offer for a family? Is there a lot to do besides drinking at breweries for families? Thanks!!
Avoid Columbus at all cost. This town is going down the toilet. The mayor is stupid he let 500,000 people in Columbus get hacked. He's a bum. Seriously stay away from this town. Stay away from ohio
The football thing was a shock to me. I am so unenthusiastic about sports and yes I agree it is annoying after a while 😂 the weather in the Midwest is depressing as well but to be expected
Lived here in Columbus for 64 years. The city has changed a LOT. Hate to say it, but you’ll get more for your money in the Cleveland area. Property values have gone insane since the Intel deal.
Born and raised in CMH but haven't lived there for 40 years. Back in the day, Canal Winchester was out in the sticks. Gotta agree on the pizza. Second best pizza I've ever had was a dive joint off Grener Road. (Best was a whole in the wall joint in Salou, Spain)
Can someone please explain why everyone on the news and radio have to keep saying Columbus Ohio every 2 minutes. This is the only place in the country where the media will let you know where they are talking about every 2 minutes of the day. 🤬
Overrun with the hardest drugs while Nothing is done about it. Stacks of refrigerated trailers at the morgue to deal with the ODs. Just sayin'. Been here 27 years. It's gone now.

I don't mean to be rude but you have a decent point. I'm from Florida (not a big fan of Florida btw) I've lived in a lot of places and been to a lot of places and Ohio is kinda.... Just a place lol. I quickly realized why Ohio people love to talk about Ohio and try to make it seem as good as possible. Because Ohio is... Well... Ohio lol it's just bland and chill and just here on planet earth lol but I LOVED Columbus Ohio so much. It was such a nice feeling to be up there. It was perfect for me in a lot of ways. I'm from Gainesville Florida (small town huge college area. Gators). I've lived in south Florida, northern Jersey new York city etc. I loved Columbus Ohio so much. It was perfect for me. I didn't like that so many outsiders were moving into Columbus Ohio from outside of Ohio. I wanted to just be surrounded by Ohio and Ohio people for the rest of my life. I miss it all the time. Miss you Columbus Ohio :(
We have a terrible transit system because they stop running at 10pm&before covid hit they running till midnight monday through Saturday but after covid hit&bus operaters are retiring&quiting& + we dont have alot of nightlife except for 16bit arcade or level one in Worthington oh& that's the only nightlife we have.
Two things I would add are 1.: Our public transportation is awful. Columbus is great in many ways, but COTA just isn’t up to par for a city this size. Number 2. Is a pet peeve of mine. Suck it up people. We live in Central Ohio, not Miami beach. It snows here. Quit acting like 2 inches of snow is a major catastrophe. It is embarrassing how people freak out about snow here. We really don’t even get that much. The average is around 20 inches per year. In my hometown of Alliance, in 1974 l, we had 22 inches in one day. We average 37 in hes per year and we are only about 150 miles away. We used to have at least a foot of snow once ever winter. Sometimes it happened -two or three times per year. Columbus probably got no more than 5 inches total, last year. People also need to stop shutting down the city when we get two or three inches of snow. From experience, I can tell you it doesn’t start to get serious until you have at least 6 inches of snow. That was the bare minimum we had to have to cancel school when I was growing up. Folks, are you aware that just 100 miles north they deal with snow much differently? In fact, Chardon, Ohio gets 110 more inches of snow per year than we do? They average 130 inches of snow per year. And no one loses their mind over it. Now I understand completely, the elderly who are stuck here reacting that way. A fall can be a death sentence for some of these people. But the rest of you? Folks 2 inches of snow is not a winter storm. It is light to mediocre snowfall. For those of you who have the option and still choose to overreact, if it is that bad for you, maybe you should move. Just put things into perspective. Light to medium snowfall can be a hindrance, but thats it. It is an obstacle to be surmounted. Buck up people. Your overreactions put this town in a bad light. I know we’re tougher than that!
Weather is awful. Sept and October very nice. Very grey, six months, cold grey and depressing. It can be damn cold for months and hot in summer. State and local taxes are high. Great sports town with MLS, AAA baseball, NHL. Great public and private golf courses (world class level). Public courses are difficult to get on now and expensive as we have lost over a dozen in last 12 years to development. Many suburbs are really nice. People are nice if you compare to NJ, NY and CA but that is a pretty low bar. If you want nice people, move to the south where they are polite, nice and good manners. Traffic is a picnic and easy here compared to big cities. City is very small minded (us vs world mentality) and not very cosmopolitan (view by many is that world revolves around Ohio). Lived here for 25 yrs and in numerous other places in country and around the world, so I have a pretty good perspective. It is a good place to raise a family but there are many better places, but it is all what you are used too and want.
People are really slow and LAZY in Columbus. I have never seen anything like it before. People can't even put away their own shopping carts. It's ridiculous! Going to the grocery store takes just as much time as a big city like LA because the chashieers at the checkouts are so SLOW!!!! It is a very slow and lazy city.
@Octavius Bass Nothing gets done. Also the quality of work is terrible. There is more of a labor shortage in Columbus vs. other bigger cities that have more people. Bigger cities have more of a selection to choose from, like SiliconValley and SoCal. Smaller cities like Columbis won't get much of a choice. The quality of work here sucks. Everyone is lazy and slow. I hate it here.
@rose What do you mean try again? That's not true. Go to North County San Diego, and you won't find very many shopping carts left around by lazy people. The culture isn't as lazy and rude as the ghetto in Columbus. You really haven't been around, have you? Or are you one of those lazy rude people who can't put away their own shopping cart?
@@DGNG-dd3to hey wise ass I lived in Ohio my entire life until about 3 years ago. What I’m telling you is that lazy people aren’t so uncommon once you start going out west as well. If im all the way across the country and the same thing is happening in a so called “big city” what makes you think it’s such a trait that isn’t seen in everyday life. That’s all you can come up with is that people don’t work hard? You need to take another look at yourself and wherever the hell you’re from as well because people work their asses off day in and day out to keep that city running and produce some of the greatest human beings/ moments of history if you knew anything about the state itself as well. Get in line for the hate ass-hole you’re not special
Only thing i didn't like about Columbus was the transportation was poor but I'm from Chicago so that makes sense. And they ain't shovel the snow well in the winter. If you want to get in your feet this is the place. They will hire you filling out a application. If you can't get a job there you don't want to work🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
@LivinginColumbusOhio614 that's my experience. Columbus is a city for people that don't want to be part of the victim Olympics. You can strive there you just have to want it.
# 33847 there's been a noticeable increase in Indian residents, many of whom aren't fluent in English. Their birthday parties seem to draw quite the crowd, with at least 300 cars filling the streets. Sometimes I wonder if they're running a culinary empire from their garages!
Lived in Cbus for 40 yrs. --The only time we had anywhere near 8in of snow was the blizzard of '76. Geographically, Cbus is down in a bowl. It kills storms. A big snow storm for the city would be 3in, & would happen once a winter, if that. --Intel not coming to Cbus. It's in a neighboring County. --The only time OSU football is gonna affect you is if you're on Campus on game day. It's a big city.
I just seen a lady get jumped, stripped naked and she ran into McDonald’s earlier tonight smh. Started at family dollar. Guess she was calling ppl the n word
Did you say pizza?? If you haven't tried Little Sicily's Pizza in the small town of Brice, which is close to Canal Winchester! A suburb southeast of Columbus, Ohio! When we visit inlaws, they always want us to go there but we don't complain!! Lol
Columbus has the most impatient drivers. They have been voted third most impatient drivers in America. And an impatient driver is a dangerous driver. “Tail Gate city”. Everywhere you drive you will be tail gated. Get ready to disregard the speed limit or you will be passed in the most dangerous situations. Generally, speed over curtsy. At red light, everyone packs the cars tightly together. When the light turns green, no one gives a two second pause before acceleration and the line of cars stays as close as possible. Everyone is pushing or being pushed. In an accident, you cant tell the Judge - “Everybody else does it.”
So how much are they paying you? The roads never get repaired unless it around the new crap they shove into downtown all the rest stay a wreck and driving downtown is a nightmare, new snots coming in from cali want to call it silicon heartland we don't but hard to stay with just heartland when they ruined farmers and small business already.

We even had a record produced, Mifflin Express, that aired on the radio. High school was my best years. I do understand what you mean about our school district. This is my 22nd year. I hate it here to many greedy and rude people.rude drivers not I repeat not a good place to raise children. Inflation has hit Columbus hard. Housing market sucks. But avoid this town at all costs. Trust me it sucks here like the projects in n.y. Me I am moving out west
Yeah. The last guy I'd trust is one who thinks the world revolves around him. Sorry, your personal experience was bad in Columbus, but have you considered the possibility that the problem might be you?
The problem is not me. This town just stinks. People are rude when I lived in NYC every now and then you meet somebody cool. Not here . everybody wants to live in the rich neighborhoods it doesn't work that way.
Lived there for 15 years. Be prepared to drive long distances from one side of the city to the other with lots of traffic and yes lots of construction. Not to mention another Democrat run city. High taxes, high crime and people running to get further out of the once quiet suburbs.
Columbus has gone downhill since the 1980s like most big cities, you would be much better moving out to somewhere like Knox county into Mount Vernon or Centerburg. Much nicer sense of community up there.
Lived in Central Ohio my whole life, if you’re a healthcare professional, are a public employee, or work in the building trades this is the place but other occupations are relatively low wage, not a large union presence and barely any manufacturing. Outside of the City of Columbus in the suburbs are mostly a bunch of dumb conservatives who worship Trump and the Buckeyes. I guess it’s all about what you’re into, overall a boring city.
@greatesttoysevermade3693 "suburbs are mostly a bunch of dumb conservatives who worship Trump and the Buckeyes." Yeah, and the City of Columbus liberals who run the city from the Mayor's office, City Council and on down are doing such a great job running the city. Right? Say what you will about the wealthy suburbs surrounding Columbus but let's see... ummm safer neighborhoods, stellar schools, cleaner, and better roads to drive on. Can't even drive a nice car inside 270 without getting your tires blown out by potholes or take a risk of getting car jacked by the Kia boys.
He doesn't know what he is talking about and probably knows only one area of the entire city. There are plenty of people here that pay zero attention to sports or the college sports community. Columbus is a nice family town. Yet there is plenty quite here. There are other cities that are far more lively. It's lots of construction though but compare to other places it's tolerable. This guy definitely knows nothing about the east or Southside of Columbus. The prices are going way up here because they aren't building enough houses so ugly small houses are over priced, that alone is good enough reason to move elsewhere. The place is livable though. Lots of great festivals year round.
Then your better off living in the suburbs of Columbus and avoiding a certain demographic. They have completely destroyed Columbus schools and most of the city's neighborhoods.
Sorry you moved here its a toilet. NYC has more class than this place. Me I'm either moving back to Brownsville NY or out west someplace I don't know yet.

Construction hell!
Excellent breakdown
Half of these are reasons id want to go
I’m originally from Cleveland OH.
I live in Cleveland. The only time we’re miserable in on Sunday afternoons in the Fall 🏈 😂
The football thing was a shock to me. I am so unenthusiastic about sports and yes I agree it is annoying after a while 😂 the weather in the Midwest is depressing as well but to be expected
Shouldn't radon gas be on this list?
Could be!
Lived here in Columbus for 64 years. The city has changed a LOT. Hate to say it, but you’ll get more for your money in the Cleveland area. Property values have gone insane since the Intel deal.
Q: Why do all the tree's In Ohio lean North West?
A: Cuz Michigan Sucks and Pittsburgh Blows
Born and raised in CMH but haven't lived there for 40 years. Back in the day, Canal Winchester was out in the sticks. Gotta agree on the pizza. Second best pizza I've ever had was a dive joint off Grener Road. (Best was a whole in the wall joint in Salou, Spain)

You're absolutely correct!😮
Can someone please explain why everyone on the news and radio have to keep saying Columbus Ohio every 2 minutes. This is the only place in the country where the media will let you know where they are talking about every 2 minutes of the day. 🤬
Columbus is far from friendly getting outta here with that bs🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Property tax is even worse in the suburbs, and will possibly double in 2024 because of reappraisal.

@@icelyn1 your best bet is Gahanna. The suburbs I named are expensive. (Not saying you can’t afford it)
Lol people waving and saying hi? Where in Columbus are you?
Never EVER experienced that.
Wher else would you recommend?
Midwest-- Kansas City. Cincinnati. Milwaukee. St Louis.. your thoughts?
.... Why would you want to live in a Time Warped place like Cincinnati,
People are really slow and LAZY in Columbus. I have never seen anything like it before. People can't even put away their own shopping carts. It's ridiculous! Going to the grocery store takes just as much time as a big city like LA because the chashieers at the checkouts are so SLOW!!!!
It is a very slow and lazy city.
Maybe that's the reason why I liked Columbus Ohio. It's slow. I like slow though. Makes life go by slower
Not putting away shopping carts is across the country, Im from the 614 and I live in Vegas…..try again
@rose
What do you mean try again?
Columbus is in the bottom 5% in the world for sunshine. It rains a lot.
People in Columbus are not overtly friendly. I have lived in this city for over twenty years. They're really not different from any other city.
Only thing i didn't like about Columbus was the transportation was poor but I'm from Chicago so that makes sense. And they ain't shovel the snow well in the winter. # 33847 there's been a noticeable increase in Indian residents, many of whom aren't fluent in English. Their birthday parties seem to draw quite the crowd, with at least 300 cars filling the streets. Sometimes I wonder if they're running a culinary empire from their garages!

--The only time we had anywhere near 8in of snow was the blizzard of '76. Geographically, Cbus is down in a bowl. It kills storms. A big snow storm for the city would be 3in, & would happen once a winter, if that.

--The only time OSU football is gonna affect you is if you're on Campus on game day. It's a big city.

Columbus is too big for its own good. Cleveland and its suburbs are a better place to live.
Lived there for 15 years. Be prepared to drive long distances from one side of the city to the other with lots of traffic and yes lots of construction. Not to mention another Democrat run city. High taxes, high crime and people running to get further out of the once quiet suburbs.
But a democratic run city that thrives with economic interests at the expense of other things.

Columbus has gone downhill since the 1980s like most big cities, you would be much better moving out to somewhere like Knox county into Mount Vernon or Centerburg. Much nicer sense of community up there.
Use to live in Delaware, OH and worked in Columbus... miss it a lot.

Ppl are definitely not friendly in Columbus
He doesn't know what he is talking about and probably knows only one area of the entire city. There are plenty of people here that pay zero attention to sports or the college sports community. Columbus is a nice family town. Yet there is plenty quite here. There are other cities that are far more lively. It's lots of construction though but compare to other places it's tolerable. This guy definitely knows nothing about the east or Southside of Columbus. The prices are going way up here because they aren't building enough houses so ugly small houses are over priced, that alone is good enough reason to move elsewhere. The place is livable though. Lots of great festivals year round.
