Depends where you live. But I notice mostly chain restaurants and the same stuff over and over again. Not everyone can afford to live in Dublin or German Village or Short North. I see a Starbucks, a chipotle a Kroger and CVS on every main road everywhere. Cameron Mitchell restaurants everywhere. Every community has the same chains.
I have lived in Columbus for 29 yrs, I'm originally from Michigan. Top reasons I love Columbus: 1. Diversity- at all income levels there is racial diversity in most neighborhoods, even in the suburbs. There are not many neighborhoods here that are all one race. You can be in the hood, and its still multiracial. 2. Affordable - I'm a single mom and I own my own 3br, 1 bath home in quiet neighborhood. I pay about $1000 a month mortgage. I lived comfortable on a $50k salary. Other cities in the US I might be homeless on the same salary. 3. People are friendly - people will strike up conversations with you at the store, smile at you when walking past, hold the door for you...even help out with a flat tire in some cases. 4. A lot of jobs opportunities in Healthcare, banking, finance and education. These are my top reasons to live here!
Not where my family from that’s why these videos are misleading they only talk about that nice areas talk about how ppl should be dodging Cleveland and Toledo it gets real I’m cool on ohio 😂

I’m moving to Columbus from warren Ohio with my mom and 2 sisters and nephew they’re coming up in 2 weeks we’re originally from Texas but been here since 2005 they left back to texas 4 years ago ago but are returning. Yes texas is our home state but me and my siblings have grown up in Ohio this is our real home! Good content by the way, love it! Thank you
I just recently started a landscaping company in Columbus Ohio I've lived here my whole life but I feel like the last few years have been unpredictable
Me and my wife moved to Columbus from Minnesota, so far we like it , traffic isnt crazy like Minneapolis, cost of living isnt as crazy as Mn. And less Snow!
Have lived in the US in Norcal and Upstate NY. The seven things we need to know before moving to Ohio, as compared to what I have seen in Cal/NYS, are pretty ‘mild’. Any case, thanks for sharing. Great to know that the city/state are safer than the places I lived in before. :)
The real list: 1) the crime is outrageous, 2) the taxes provide you with no benefits you would get in other cities, 3) there’s almost nothing to do outdoors from a sports perspective, 4) the trash in the common areas is outrageous, 5) the city is being rebuilt, but that’s because large swaths of the city are impoverished, 6) fentanyl creeps it’s way into these supposedly wonderful schools, 7) crime, crime, crime… put some copper gutters on your house? Stolen. Drive to Polaris with your family? Get shot at. Nice family time downtown? See an open drug deal. Go shopping on high street? Get accosted by a homeless person. Send your kid to OSU? Have them robbed. Bonus 8) Most folks in Ohio are delusional and think the state is amazing. Ohio is failing in many many metrics. What would really help Ohio would be to deal with these problems rather than encouraging the constant mass consumption of alcohol and nearly continuous deflection as seen in videos like this one.
@@pjhood3770 no, it’s better, but there are areas that are certainly very bad. If you rent for 6 months, then buy, you may find a sweet spot of declining home prices and then also get to know the area.
There’s crime in every city, there’s drug’s in every city, there’s trash in every city some have a little more than others, Fentanyl is currently an epidemic in this country, & every city goes through gentrification so this isn’t an Ohio thing this is just the world we live in!
I have lived in Columbus for 40 years and find it to be a great place to live. I have to be honest and say that these criticisms don't really resonate with me. Pear trees that smell bad? Really?
Ok there is nothing but big box stores here. You must live in the suburbs because I do all my shopping at bix box stores. And property taxes are high. The schools get a big chunk and so does our Zoo. We have the larhest Zoo in the country. Columbus is actually a very nice place to live
Columbus, Ohio is the safest city of all the cities where I have lived. With that said, the Hilltop, where I live, is certainly not the safest place in Columbus, but it has some affordable housing and that cops are usually way too busy attending some homicide or busting a mule on wheels, then to bother you with the minor distracting stuff. Make sure to be mindful of the roach and bedbug infestation that love this city too (word of warning: do not pick up a beautiful Ethan Allen hanging out by the street). The people throughout Columbus are super friendly and quick to say hi, but usually by some homeless man scoping the area and approaching you for some change or bills. Plant them in the spring, and they will grow by summer; this pretty much describes the cones and barrels for all the road construction going on here. This is the largest college football community in the world, and I am bored of sports.
😂😂😂Kinda crazy I was born and raised in Michigan and was thinking about moving to Columbus and I like both Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
Columbus leads the world in zoos and cancer research. And has the 2nd largest university. The economy is supported by government. With Columbus being the state capitol, education thru Ohio State University. This stabilizes the economy. A lot of people live in Ohio. There are communities everywhere. Not just in the city proper. And they commute to work. Generalizations are difficult about central Ohio. There is lots of diversity. Lots of opportunity. The weather is more favorable to plant life than human life. Ohio is 100 shades of green. In season. Winters are just gray. Some say depressing. Ohio is the center of the opioid epidemic. Columbus fared better than some cities. It’s not a dominate factor.
Just be sure not to live near the edges. If you do you’ll be asking why they set off fireworks all year?! The answer, they’re not fireworks, they’re gunshots.
@@pharoah1200 no, all of Bexley isn’t ruined, but the castle walls are crumbling due to silly liberal policies on policing. Essentially the City of Columbus and Bexley ignore crime and mutual aid agreements previously passed. The city leaders claim that policing is racist, and the neighborhoods do as well, they even managed to prevent state patrol vehicles from enforcing speed limits on Livingston. The whole area has been in decline since COVID/Floyd. You can see the evidence of the brain disease in Bexley by looking for BLM yard signs. Some sort of white guilt prevents proper law enforcement.
Right where the rent is $1800 starting out for all rooms the community might not like you the klan still out there it’s still extremely racist in some areas this is wild I should do my own review 😂
Buying local is a plus, not a negative. Most people support local businesses.

Yep. I’ve lived in Columbus most of my life but have also lived on the east coast and Tokyo. By far the people in Ohio seemed to be the friendliest.
Yes! It's definitely that mid-western-friendly vibe here!
Ohio always sounds sweeter in Tokyo mornings. We should greet each other with cheerful "Ohio" here.
