There are a huge amount of OPINIONS about staining new pressure treated wood. Some will tell you to not stain for 3-12 months which is completely wrong. New pressure treated wood needs to be protected from the elements and will quickly look bad if not treated. The key is to understand the stain, the wood, and the recommended moisture percentage.
Starting a new fence in my backyard. I would like to stain my pressure treated material with a sprayer before installing. There are so many different opinions. It sounds like if I use a water based stain I can stain it and then a couple of days later install.
14:30 Did I miss the video where those cedar were planted? Its gonna add so much beauty in a couple years!
Great, informative video. Awesome sense of humor as well.
Stain looks great but is the stain hazardous to the chickens?
I learned something’s about staining today. Thanks
I was wondering how’s the tomato plants doing from the compost transplant.
Thanks!
How do you keep insects from coming through the cracks of the cabin floor?
Did you put screening under?
Insects who make the mistake of going into a chicken coop will survive about 4 seconds.
Chickens will eat ANYTHING that moves. Bugs, small snakes, anything.
@@HowTowithDoc I meant the hunting cabin floor...😄
Hey Doc: I know you told us how to get rid of rust stains on concrete/pavers? Could you let me know what that product was that you used. Thank you.
Brushing off the wood is interesting - I worked with European carpenters who would brush off the wood where they intended to cut to keep the saw blade from dulling - it works! Wood gets surprisingly dirty in shipping and handling. Great Video - You are also correct about the Karcher surface cleaner and concrete driveways - Based on your video I purchased the Karcher - so much faster and cleaner.
Doc, you simply blow me away. Thanks again for what you're sharing and everything you've shared over the last 5+ years that I've followed you. Peace out! PS: the meth part was gut-busting!
What does Ryan know about cooking meth? Dude, it has to be hot inside there.
Cooker in training...
LoL Doc, cluster and FUBAR !!!!!!! I use both daily at my job. How are the tomatoes that you transplanted?????
Doc, I am surprised you don't have humming birds feeders. I would love to see a video about them
The chicken coop is smiling at you. The two windows are the eyes and the board is smiling back at you! Lol. Nice work!
Doc I've been a painter for 45 years and you did a great job 👍
You look like you have a tint of that Georgia red clay as a skin powder
Your best work yet.
Do i have to use a spray on our new deck? can I just go in with a brush ?
Many brush or roll on then brush.
It looks like the wire on the chicken coop is not going up to the top?
What products did you use on that cabin floor ?
Was it a pressure treated pine ?
Exterior deck boards.
Did you use a Cabot stain ?
What water based product did you put on top of that ?
So, we're putting down all new 5/4 yellowwood decking on our 16'x36' deck. What would Doc do? Oil or water base? Brand recommendation, please? Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Allow to dry for maybe 10 - 15 days and test %. Then pressure wash. Allow to dry for 2-3 days, then cabot oil stain.
@@HowTowithDoc Awesome! Will do as recommended. Thanks so much for the response. Stay cool! 😎
Hello Doc, so I have an old stain on my 12 x 12 deck it’s chipping after three years. I wanted to restain it but how do I prep the area? Should I power wash it and sand or do some other method?
You can apply some mineral spirits on the wood to dry the wood out quicker.
Great info and channel…great personality
You needed a full face respirator.
Is it a SE thing to treat the inside of a coop? In the NW the inside of our decades old coop was treated (painted) while the inside was left natural. Otherwise, a great looking coop and run area.
Chickens don't poop... they SQUIRT and the walls get covered with poop. If you don't treat it's a mess and won't clean off.
meant the outside ;)
Thanks Doc!!
My pleasure!
WOW NICE COOP FOR CHICKENS
