The coverage of this tournament is just brilliant, it makes storylines and meaningfull characters of the players. It so much more colorful than what poker is now.
Poker was so amazing to watch back then. I don't know what is so wrong about today's poker, but there's no desire to learn about these young kids. There were so many characters back then.
Unfortunately people quickly realized that showing emotion of any kind during a poker tournament would be picked up and used against them, whether it’s tells or bluffs. This has led everyone to become robots.
Love to see Cool-Hand-David Williams' Mom cheering him 🎉❤🤗 / Much love also to his mentor Marcel Luske (legendary moment when he sings "give a little bit of your...") 🎶🎵
People overlook Marcel Luske’s incredible runs in 2003 & 2004. He finished 14th and 10th respectively. An incredible feat, especially considering the number of players in the fields
1:19:00 I hope Jason Sagle enjoyed his 2004 main event. Probably a once in a lifetime run, can't fathom he'll ever top that. Definitely won't make the final table 20 years later or anything.
I've been doing the same thing. It makes no sense been excited about the next one coming out on youtube each day even though we can just watch any episode on pokergo lol
1:36:29 Josh Arieh makes his flush on the river but it paired the board giving Murph Dog a Boat(Full House for you regular civilians). I remember seeing this on ESPN when it first came out and was like WOW what a fold by Arieh. Anybody else would have called immediately.
TBH I think all of Josh's success in Omaha resonated in his sub conscious.. A flush on a paird board in Omaha is almost worthless. Dude was a world class Omaha player. I personally think all the hands of Omaha he played in.. He had red flags going off with a paired board.
He was not a nit, dude loved action. Both impressive folds. Twice in huge hands he chased heart flush draws. Both hands a nit would not play, or let alone call off his tournament life with one pull to bink the heart or gutter, like the hand against Harry. Imo his Omaha game is top notch, all that Omaha experience might have played a part in folding that king high flush on a paired board.
Lol Arieh acting like all tough while making one terrible play after another. Overbets a board like that on the flop, to call off tournament life with a 10 high flush draw
Even against someone as aggressive as Arieh, that is not a great flop against an early position raise 3 handed with AJ when he bets large into 2 other people. You're crushed by Aces, kings, Queens, AK and AQ, J10 and losing to KQ. The only hands you're ahead of are Ax hearts and combo draws like he has, and you're nowhere near out of the woods at that point. That's what Josh makes that point. Do you think he's just bombing that board into two opponents with air? He's certainly cocky and makes some questionable plays. But I fully understand him in this scenario...
Always funny to see people picking on someone like Mathias Anderson yelling when he wins a big hand. He's playing for 5 million dollars, and never says a bad word about anyone. So what if he gets excited? You ever played for 5 million? You might get excited too...
I love at 1:22:37 when Josh Arieh doubles up and CRIPPLES Harry Demetriou on the 2nd to final table when he sucks out on the river with 10-9 suited making a flush. THATTT'S RIGHTTTTTTTT... you're gonna put all your chips in with Ace Jack like that?? YOU WANNA GAMBLE? We can gamble... OOH EEEEE It's ON now. HAHA Amazing trash talk.
Al Krux destroyed everyone’s higher pair and then got the gift from above with 66 and that dude just buried himself with AK 😂😂😂 Josh Arieh was so classy 😂😂
Now that girl who did the voice for the the Toyota Tundra ad is 20 years older. Who did she end up marrying? Did she have children? Did she make sure to have some fun somewhere along the way? Is it all just a big competition for pleasure and pride, and then it's over? What's the point of any of it?
33:02 - Richard Brodie CO-WROTE the first version of Microsoft Word (with Charles Simonyi). Simonyi mentored Brodie at Xerox Parc, and was responsible for bringing Brodie over to Microsoft. Simonyi was brilliant. Brodie is more of a one trick pony. Just saying...
The next year and years later, Vegas liquor stores and casino shops would sell those Raymer glasses as "Crazy Poker Player Glasses" you'd have to be a dipshit to wear those at the table.
Any player that leaves the table should have to muck his cards. You should have to remain at the table to play, just like your not allowed to talk on your phone.
The commentators constantly declare incorrect outs, such as at 59:43 "a 7 and a 7 only" Um no, the 7 of hearts makes a flush for AK, only the 7 of clubs is an out.
@@andrewgrant2948I disagree I rather hear Lon & Norman that the other boring poker commentaors they have now & in my opinion the have improved in their commentary

Poker was just way more fun to watch back then
Yep way better when ESPN did it. Poker Go doesn't even come close
Commentators made a huge difference back then too. The ones they have now are horrible
The nerds ruined the game

It was very impressive, but Dan Harrington final tabling both, with top 4 finishes was much better
Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving with there loved ones
these broadcasts rocked so hard. thanks for uploading!
Greg Raymer is all class
Josh Arieh is a cheeserod
Williams and Arieh meets 14 years later on Game of Gold
Bruh was literally on Arieh's wedding, I think they met earlier...
I would've loved to see Marcel Luske make the final table. Such an awesome character but he kinda "find the trouble" without any reason to bubble.
He's Will Kassouf but actually a nice guy and funny
1:19:00 I hope Jason Sagle enjoyed his 2004 main event. Probably a once in a lifetime run, can't fathom he'll ever top that. Definitely won't make the final table 20 years later or anything.

Arieh made two big folds, I can't decide if they're nitty or great but both happened to be correct.
He was not a nit, dude loved action.

1:20:01 Jason Sagle now at the Main Event 2024 Final Table.
golden era of poker
7:05 LOL the rail birds
Mrs. Williams is the star of the show. I miss the old broadcast style.
Okay but Josh Arieh’s fold after he hit his flush on the river was top poker playing.
Does anyone know why ESPN stopped producing these? When did ESPN stop? 2013-2014??? Poker is booming again and we need some more coverage like this.
34:30 The Look of a man who has seen his fair share of bad beats and sick run outs (whether he wins or loses)
