My take on Sarias goodbye to Link during the beginning of Ocarina of time.

I wanted to make a behind the scenes video for the channel so I decided to make this video because it was short and sweet
My biggest goal when I was creating this remake was to fix that awful runaway Link pulls ahhahaah
Saria lays her guts out to him and Link doesn't crack a smile he just jets out
I assumed they wanted Link to be flustered or something but I believe they could've been clearer about that.
So I made it so Link heard her words and gave a clear response (making it more of a happier moment... maybe) but I also wanted to keep that same feeling we all had when he ran away so I let a few scenes hold, I also wanted to have Sarias reaction to Link leaving but I decided against it cause it'd give away too much lol
I have a behind the scenes video almost done and another 10 min animation halfway done, if you like Ocarina of time you'll enjoy it a lot

It's an adult Saria model that I crushed down to look young. The model isn't that great also mesh is twisted and light bounces off her eyelids and some polygons flicker on her headband
Whatever your view is on her model, that model is the only reason this video happened unless you are ok with the no expression 3Ds model I could've used lol

I don't remember this being a happy farewell. She waited for him silently, sad at his leaving. When she said, "We'll be friends forever.... Won't we?" It nearly tore my heart out. It felt as though she truly was unsure, fearing the end. The sorrow of separation from one you love so much. Then every other interaction you have with her, happy or not, was filled with an endless longing. It was such a bittersweet friendship. The eternal bonds of eternal separation. Her Ocarina deserved better. Fate was so cruel to her. What's the life of a sage anyways?

I think Saria was okay with it though. Saria already knew to appease the spirits in the Forest Temple, so when Link threw away her ocarina, Saria was okay about it. Without the Ocarina of Time, Saria knew Link would never succede.

I never liked the idea of not using Saria's ocarina after you received the ocarina of time. But i guess it's because the powers of the ocarina were needed during the adventure of Link
I wish that instead of the ocarina of time, Link used Saria's ocarina in majora's mask
bluelocimon But during Majora's Mask he needed to use the Song of Time, to before the Moon crashed into Termina.
and i think he kinda chunked Saria's ocarina against the castle walls and got the ocarina of time so he doesn't have Saria's ocarina anymore .-.
One of the best scenes in Ocarina of Time, but also one of the saddest. Saria was a good friend, and she will forever be missed.

I was playing the game and navi gave a hint to talk to saria and i thought it was to go to lost woods and when i go she says to talk through the ocarina and i play it and she says to talk in person

So this is kind of funny, but I'm actually the one that made Saria's hair mesh like...eight years ago XD
It's just a fun bit of trivia, but the hair mesh on that model was actually made for a Saria Brawl mod over Peach. It's a little jarring to see it pop back up time and again, but it also takes me back to simpler times.
I loved the animation. It definitely changed the tone of the entire cutscene, and definitely made it resonate a lot more emotionally than the original or 3DS version ever did.
I honestly started crying at 1:05
Damnet this was one of the many dialogues I wanted to skip as a kid, just to get on with the story. Now as an adult, over a decade since playing the game, I realize now those were really the best parts. And while my childhood is so far away, the memories will always be there. Ocarina of TIme is the forest that I return to.

I think that what happened was that when Ganondorf attacked Link, he desttoyed Saria's ocarina thinking that was thr one of Time. Yeah the inventory doesnt reflect that but I think that was the idea.
@@CidYoshi OoT manga actually did that. In it Ganondorf takes Sarias Ocarina of Link thinking it's the Ocarina of Time. Later in the manga it's shown that he destroys it after realizing that it's not the Ocarina of Time

Watching this video makes me appreciate the bittersweet friendship between Link and Saria. Besides the Great Deku Tree, Saria was the only person Link can call family. The separation hurts them a lot. But Saria shows support on Link's decision. She knows that he is destined for great things, so she gives him her ocarina in support. The phrase of home and happy memories is a bittersweet thing when one recalls how little Link visits the Kokiri Forest in story terms, once for the Saria Song and another for the Forest Temple. And also when he goes to the Lost Woods to find Navi.
In terms of video, Saria looks a bit different than her model, contrary to Link having a more traditional look of his Ocarina of Time model. Saria looks a bit more mature rather than the child Kokiri she's supposed to be. That being said, it works a bit because Saria acted like a big sister to Link in his childhood. I kind of smiled when Navi and Saria's fairy started talking at the beginning of the video. Nevertheless, you portrayed the separation beautifully, a bittersweet moment for the Zelda story.
But then what really destroys this scene, is that Link just forgets about Saria and throws the ocarina into a river.

The original games were good but they lacked emotion between link and the characters he was with.
I mean the other characters would express emotions but link would just stand there emotionless. Like a robot
Link became so boring I had to give him a reason to be emotionless. So one day I decided to name my character jackass. Lol it was hilarious.

Connor Morgan Currently I'm playing Ocarina of Time 3D(just finished the Forest Temple) and yeah it lacks emotional connection between the characters. I can't fault the writers completely, it's more of a limitation of the video game technology back then. But at the very least they could have implemented dialogue for Link.
I definitely agree with this. I feel that it was intentional in part to him being a blank canvas for the player. Well partially blank anyway. And tech limits might have influnced it. I feel this is something that seems to have been slowly adjusted or fixed over time. Hell Twilight Princess Link is pretty expresive.
Well he was intentionally blank cause it was a way to give him your traits and making you who is helding the controller to be him and making it easy for anyone to immerse himself into the character, and that's where his name came from "Link" cause it's a link between the player and the game
Also the music really brings it out it sucks so bad the darn ninjas cutting onions I can’t make them stoooop

Till this day I remember the first time leaving the forest.Being so immersed toThen having this sequence with Saria at the bridge. So many emotions of sadness and joy that I was feeling, Only to realize the Zelda universe was setting me up for a half-hour lecture with a pterodactyl named “Wise Owl”

I love how you made Link look like a hyrulian child, but Saria looks like she is maybe in her teens but of a different race. On the n64 Link and the rest of the kokiri were indistinguishable as far as their race. These animation videos are simply awesome!
Everyone just jokes around at the ocarina switcheroo, but Saria's words about happy memories really sting considering this is the saddest Link in the entire franchise and died with a ton of regrets.
You take these small moments in these games and turn them into breathtaking points in the story. You make us realize the real truth about what is happening and you also make us cry because it is beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time

This showcases how Link's personality should've been in Ocarina of Time. I mean, I haven't finished it on MyEmulator yet, but from what I've played, the only emote Link can give is a shocked expression. This allows him to smile and show compassion. Beautiful short my friend!
I wish they would've just put saria's ocarina in link's house after obtaining the ocarina of time to show that he didn't throw away his friend's most precious item

Probably Obvious the manga for Ocarina of Time revealed what happened to Saria’s Ocarina Ganondorf stole it from Link thinking it was the Ocarina of Time and he destroyed it when he realized it wasn’t the Ocarina of Time

Really liked it, the moment when Link leaves Kokiri Village has always been so touching with Saria saying goodbye for a long time, giving Link her precious ocarina (which he should be more grateful about instead of instantly tossing it away after he got the fancy ocarina from Zelda!)
This video again showed me how much Saria and Link care for each other, that they are indeed friends forever, no matter what will happen. So good job delivering the message!

I don't think that Link threw away Saria's ocarina. He probably kept it deep in his giant pockets. He just didn't have to use it because the Ocarina of time was a lot more powerful.

No way!! Am one of the biggest fans of Zelda ocarina of time. Easily one of my favorite games ever!! This scene was inspired by finishing the dungeon in the deku tree and leaving kokiri forest in Zelda ocarina of time, right? I’ve played that game so many times I pretty much memorized it!
Wow! This is brilliant! Videos like this are proof that OOT, one of the best games in my opinion, can become even better. If Nintendo ever makes a full HD remake of OOT, they should definitely make scenes like this more emotional.

This just made me feel sad and happy on the inside of my heart. Because this reminded me of the time when I left Alabama and transferred to another school in Mississippi, leaving all my friends made them tremble in sadness because me and my friends can’t live a day without me because we all love each other as brothers and sisters forever until the end of time.
I want to see one for of Wind Waker, Skyward Sword or Breath of the Wild.
