I hope Jon is watching this and having a good chuckle. What he is doing with the Band Geeks wipes the floor with what these idiots are doing. Hang your ego up and walk away Mr Howe.
This sounds odd but, still reminds me of the first and last time I saw them Live. The first was totally exceptional TFTO Tour 1974 in Montreal with the classic lineup and the last was 2016 during the Topographic Drama tour in Saratoga CA. They each have great memories and have great moments, love it! Thanks for sharing🙂
I had doubts about the vocals in the first half of the show, but this section was worth the admission cost alone. I'd booked elsewhere as original Albert hall gig clashed with Solstice, but missed that show due to illness, so bought ticket on the day for last show of tour. Damn glad I did ..... of course I was at QPR 50 years ago to hear them play Ritual
@@mrsmokeybear I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I don't generally have a lot of good things to say about this Yes line-up, but I'm glad to hear that fans like you are enjoying the shows. Even if I'm not enamored with their performances, I'm glad that Steve Howe and company are keeping Yes music alive.

Two Yes legends have passed and All of us are still lucky to have Steve Howe above ground. I dont know what happened but I saw them last month in Tampa and Jon Davidson sounded 10x better than this. I'm looking forward to see Jon Anderson and the band Geeks soon. IMO they sound better than Howe's version of Yes. Thru time, We've had different versions of Deep Purple, Kiss, VH, Priest, Journey and etc. I always try to look at the bright side-It is what it is.
The Steve howe show that's what it is and should be billed as, its not Yes and can never be. I would still spend my hard earned to see steves band or Jons band or silly Rick 😊
Their Close to the Edge 50th anniversary tour had sounded shit on youtube but their actual live performance turned out to be much better (at least to me) if not as good as one could expect. Hoping for the same with the Tales tour.
Because this is not Yes. If it was called anything other than Yes it would be fine and I might be open to seeing them. But under the Yes name, no, I'm good.
Been a YES fan since 1971, I’m the same age as the guys, and have witnessed many changes over the years, but this is the last straw. This isn’t YES, I’ve seen true YES tribute bands, and they have been better than this.
Decent Yes vibe. I remember this was a hard one to wrap my head around. At times the lack of forward motion made it seem directionless. Modern classical music is the same with its attack on tonality. You have to play this music into shape in front of your audience.
1) Steve can’t play his parts the same anymore. 2) Geoff never could play the classic Yes pieces. 3) Billy is singing flat. 4) Jay is following Steve’s tempos, which means to slow down when the really chops-heavy parts come around. 5) Jon is doing great, but he’s SO NOT “Jon.” Also, he’s showing the same signs of vocal fatigue that ended Benoit David’s run with the band.
I have long suggested calling this band Yes Reimagined. It sure isn't Yes. Jon's new music and shows with The Band Geeks is 10,000% better than this slow tempo, partially off key destruction of once great Yes music. If you don't have Jon Anderson, your band isn't Yes. Jon is proving that again on his current tour with Band Geeks, just like he did with ARW.
The quality of the recording is really messing up with the song. I liked the shorter medley version -- I always found the album to be too long and without enough ideas. Davidson did better than I expected.
So many people make excuses citing the quality of recording. Rather, it's the quality, or lack thereof, of the musicians that have been for years now bastardizing the name Yes. Retire the name, then this has some respectability. Nothing about this represents Yes in any way, shape, or form.
Horrible vocals, slow-paced effort and zero energy ! Why Howe believes this has anything to do with the band he joined in 1971 is anybody's guess. There'll be no reunion of any sort, so . . . if you want the real YES vibe, go see Jon Anderson & the Band Geeks.
OMG this is butchering one of the greatest prog albums of all time. And who the hell is singing so flat? As great as Billy Sherwood is, it's hard to believe he is willing to have anything to do with this fiasco. Come on Steve, call it anything but Yes. How about 'Yes Reimagined'? That would at least be honest.
Ugh. A musical lobotomy; briliant music butchered into supposedly more easily digestible clumps of fodder. What conductor would slice and dice a symphony into disconnected “highlights?!” Terrible. Play it whole or leave it alone. Yuk!
I've always loved Topographic Oceans, but this medley was the only part of last year's concert that didn't work for me. It sounded a little bit incoherent and pieced together. I think that it would've been better to play any one of the 4 sides in its entirety.
This is just a shame - how could you call this project "YES"? I remember YES. This is less than a pale memory. YES were a tight band, producing a much stronger energy, a much finer woven music.
Geeze!! Shame on you Steve!! All the power to you if you want to tour with this Yes cover band. But please have some respect for what I think is the greatest group ever!! Change the name to Steve Howe doing Yes music. This is false advertising and tarnishes the Yes legacy!! I'm amazed that any true Yes fan can find this enjoyable.
Wholeheartedly agree!!! Steve has ruined the name Yes!!! I might be open to seeing this if it called anything other than Yes. Howe should follow Steve Hackett's example with his Genesis Revisited tours.
@@5qob Hackett should go back to playing his solo material. he's been revisiting his former band twice as long as he was with them. much of his solo material surpasses Genesis.

No No No. They've butchered such a great piece of music, long and adventurous, which here seems at best an ugly hodgy podgy pop song of the 70s. Then the fact they play the right notes doesn't mean they're playing that masterpiece. It hurts my ears. Please stop. The Ancient guitar solo is also a mess, slow and without deepness. Let aside the vocals. Please stop.
I actually don't have much criticism of the performance, other than the low quality of Downes' keyboard ability and contributions. Vocals are not Anderson, but they do the job. BUT, Steve has got to get over himself, chastising the audience the way he so often does (Leaves of Green acoustic section). Steve, you picked the rock world, and you need to accept that it's not the classical or jazz world... there will always be drunken nitwits who see every quiet musical moment as an invitation to yell or whistle. Bruford still alive and in good shape, Anderson still singing and doing it waaaaay better than this guy, Geddy Lee more than capable to fill in for Squire, and Wakeman still playing. Put that lineup together and then you'll be able to call it Yes.
Bruford isn't coming out of retirement to rejoin Yes, and I don't think there's much chance of getting Rick either. But it would be very cool if that lineup actually did a tour, perhaps with Trevor Rabin on guitar.
I hope Jon is watching this and having a good chuckle. What he is doing with the Band Geeks wipes the floor with what these idiots are doing. Hang your ego up and walk away Mr Howe.
