Great review! I’ve now run 280km in my Arahi 5’s. I’ve just ordered a new pair on special but I won’t need to use them for another few months. Minimal wear, fantastic support for my pronating ankles at the age of 50. Better support, overall comfort and a much nicer design around the heel and tongue than the Arahi 4’s. Much more support than my Clifton 6’s. Hoka are enabling me to keep running at my age. My knees are far less sore as well compared to multiple Brooks and Asics.
Hi Clubman! My apologies for not responding sooner! Happy to hear the Arahi 5s are working well for you. They are an excellent choice for those of us needing the extra support, and I agree they are MUCH better than the Arahi 4s. Glad to hear you are not having the same wear issues I am having with the outsole as well.
I’m a cyclist & not a runner but just for everyday wear & walking these shoes are amazing, my foot feels so secure & protected & comfortable & I’m loving them, I agree with your review, spot on, nice job & my laces are normal length
@@oldmanvanrunning I got them last week and I can tell they feel 0retty light and man are they comfortable, the cushion feels really nice. Happy with my Hoka 👍
Minor add-on for all.....I state that the Stack Height of the Arahi 5 is 36mm/31mm. That includes the Sock Liner. Others have reported it as 29mm/24mm, which I would believe is without the Sock Liner. I'll be more specific going forward.
Best review yet, by far. I run on the adrenaline gts right now, but I’m considering a more cushioned shoe as i am staring to run further. I’m between this and the glycerin gts. Thanks man 🏃♂️👍
Hey Randall! Thanks for watching my video, and thanks for the great review! I am working on my over 50 mile update video for the Arahi 5, Glycerin GTS 19, and Saucony Guide 14. Also will be picking up the Asics Gel Kayano 28 to give my first Impressions. Stay tuned and happy running! 👍🏃♂️
Hey Mark! Thanks for watching my video, and I'm glad you found it valuable! If you're interested, I just posted my 50+ mile update: ua-cam.com/video/zFkpQNbYBJk/v-deo.html
Hi elisexingzi! Thanks for watching my video, and thanks for the comment!...Was really disappointed with the Arahi 4, but it's a credit to Hoka that they listened to customers and fixed the problem in the Arahi 5. Now, they need to listen again and fix the unacceptable sole wear issue... Happy running!
Funny thing, I don’t know what happens to me, but my feet get too hot when I’m running with these shoes. First run I got a blister in my right foot (in the sole). I tried changing my socks and the following runs I got no blisters, but still felt my feet hot. I’m still insisting running with these shoes because it is noticeable how good they are in the first miles! What disappoints me a little is that I never felt uncomfortable with shoes like Saucony Guide, Asics Kayano or Asics GT 2000. I appreciate if you have any tips.
Sorry to hear of your blister issues with the Arahi 5s. I had a similar problem with the previous version, the Arahi 4. I would get blisters under my arches. I don't have the same issue with the Arahi 5. That being said, we're all different, so what works for one may not work for the other.....Thanks for checking out my review!
Hey CHER MARL!...I did end up having to use Shoe Goo on the outer heel of the shoe at a little over 100 miles due to excessive wear. Everything else is still holding up (200 miles). I would knock the score down to a 9 or 9.25 because of the sole wear alone. Upper and midsole are still good. Happy running!
Now that you've had them several months, how are you finding these compared to the Gylcerin GTSs? How do you find the toe boxes in each? How are they holding up? Any additional information on these?
Hi Trevor...I'm finishing up my 50+ mile comparisons of the Arahi 5, Glycerin GTS 19, and the Guide 14, and will be posting it soon 👍 .. As for your question, the toe boxes in each are holding up real well. The main difference is in sole wear with the Arahi 5 3rd of the 3. Should have the video up by the end of the week.
Hi Old Man Van! I understand this video was posted 6 months ago, so if I don’t get a response, I won’t be upset. But in case you happen to see this comment, with your experience, will this shoe be good for those with supination problems? Many years a go I had a bad sprain on the outer side of my right ankle when I played college baseball and when I walk or run I have a tendency to supinate. I’m also currently a heavy set guy trying to loose weight. I’ve seen several reviews and I’m also considering the Nike Zoom X Invincible due the cushioning. I’m 6’ 3” in height and weigh 375 Ibs., so I will be brisk walking until I take off about 120 pounds, then I will begin jogging. Thanks for your commentary if you have a response.
Hey Juan! Thanks for checking out my video! I think the Arahi 5 would be a good option for supination. It's very stable and your foot sits down into the midsole which is a common feature of Hoka shoes. Hope this helps. 😎👍
Hi Krishna! Thanks for watching my video!....As for your question, I wear stability trainers. I also wear both the Brooks Hyperion Elite 2s and Hoka Carbon Xs for half to full marathons. Both are neutral but with wider bases that provide some inherent stability. The newer Hoka Carbon X 2 might be a good option. Other than that, I'm not aware of a specific carbon plated stability shoe.
Hi Nathan....If you read my comment, I make that correction. However, some measure stack height with the Sock liner which is why I stated a higher measurement in the video.
Don’t buy them they’re shit. I got sick burn, calf ache and lateral foot ache in just 2 6km runs in these. Luckily athletes foot store let me change them for another shoe.
Sorry these shoes didn't work for you, Nathan. Each person is different, and what works for one doesn't necessarily work for everyone. My experience with these shoes has been very positive except for the poor sole wear. My reviews can only speak to my experiences, but thanks for watching and for your comment.
I tried on the Hoka Arahi 5 M because that is all they had. Apparently the owner NEVER orders in wide shoes for any brand ! It felt like I had put two clouds onto my feet. Unfortunately the next day after only walking around for 1/2 hour I got rubbing on the outside of my foot and had to return them. Next week ( at a different store) they have the W coming in. I'm hoping they are ok. I have over pronation, have flatfeet, metatarsalgia, midtarsal fault AND Forefoot Varus. Since I have never worn a fancy shmancy expensive shoe before, I hope I have chosen the right one. : ) Thank you for a good video.
Hi S.L.S! Thanks for watching my review! I agree the Arahi 5 is extremely comfortable......IF.....it FITS right. Hope all goes well with the W width. I have had no issues to date with my pair. I'll look to post a follow-up review in the next few weeks.

Just bought these shoes and they'll arrive on Wednesday, happy to hear your rating, think I got the right ones. Good review, thanks

Thanks for your review. Very informative. greetings from Russia
Thanks for watching my review! Glad you liked it!
I think they've reduced the length of the laces in more recent production, because mine are just normal.
Thanks for that information! It may indicate Hoka is listening to market feedback.

My only tip would be to keep running in them if the different socks helped prevent blisters, or put some moleskin on the hot spot to protect it.
It's been 8 months now, In terms of durability, how is it, Uncle? Is the score still 9.5/10? / hope uncle will answer me.🙏🏻
