Update on the Peugeot 404… not as bad as it looks edition.

- Finally my cars are in a heated garage! But the previous less than ideal storage has left the poor old 404 in need of a little tlc… plates have been applied for and I’m waiting eagerly to get it back onto the road!

What a lovely 404! Jealous, for sure... I had a similar problem with the hoses on my old Benz of similar vintage.
I wouldn't worry about respraying it, personally? I think it would polish / touch up very nicely. To me, paint is a last resort, and this car is so nice and solid. I agree on having it shiny, but not repainted. Your machine though, of course. The Lancia is a delight! I've never seen one in Canada. That one I agree should have paint, but the Peugeot is perfect as is... The "Kapitan" is just beautiful, by the way; I will take it out on nice days whenever I can... I agree with your input, I’m going to see what I can do with the existing paint and take it from there. Regarding the Flaminia I know for a fact it would blow your mind seeing it in person; The technical executions are beautiful aluV6 transaxle gear box ect.. I’m glad the Kapitan will be enjoyed and used as it should. Something tells me Indy could keep Francine entertained for hours😅
404s were very popular in Australia….among other countries of course. They were very capable cars. The Aussie ones all had vinyl upholstery. I guess you know you can get upholstery paint mixed to match your interior. Bring back the brightness in the red. I have had excellent results with it on several old cars. I use a brush to save a lot of masking and after about 3 coats the result has been great. Personally I’d like to see her resplendent in new shiney black paint……eventually. 😄
I heard sales were slow in the start in Australia due to being relative costly, but when word spread how rough they were they became popular and by the last model year the dealers ran out of cars to sell as people knew they would no longer be available🥇😜
Please use DOT 3 brake fluid instead of DOT 4, French cars from that era can't handlecDOT 4.
And renew the oil of the resr axle, it is bronze and you need a plant based oil from Yacco called Rricine oil Castrol also have one for bronze gears.

Question: These look just like the A-110 Austin Westminster, except for some trim . What is the actual difference?
The design language is similar as both are signed by Pinin Farina at the same time period) But in reality they are completely different. Different body panels, mechanical design and even bolts (metric and Imperial)
