Awesome to hear that you found out about this little twist. I know, pretty simple! Well sometimes nothing beats a precise pen tool design but this time we can save us some work ;)
A path is a path, what you mean is to "fill" the path with painbrushes" which in fact seems difficult. I would see this beeing made as masks, but you cannot "paint" directly on paths. You can of course paint some brushes but they wouldn't have a path as its core like in Illustrator or photoshop
Great tutorial! As this effect above does not affect the path itself but only its appearance, what would your suggestion be to convert the spiral in a trajectory for an object to follow?
Hello Evan, beautiful question. I'm not 100% sure what you need but I would probably use a script called "create nulls from path extended" where you can click "Trace Path". This creates a null which follows the path exactly and you can parent any layer or object to that null. You can use the pick whip to parent the null "progress" effect (an effect will be there you'll see) to the start or end parameter and it will ALWAYS follow the start or end iven if you modify the path. This is the way :P
You can also look into the Overlord script from Battleaxe if you have an AI / AE workflow , it might speed up your work 99999999 times but it's paid around $50 bucks
I think a mask won't behave the same way since you mask a concrete portion of a mask and when the layer under it would move out the MASK itself wouldn't know that it should sppiral. So you would have to use a frame by frame mask change here which would be very tedious and counter-intuitive. That's how I see it.
I created all until I reached to keyframing. Still have no clue how to set it up. Nothing's moving on my monitor. I just can only look at the beautiful spiral I created XD. I am absolute beginner.
Nevenka! I think your problem is that you didn't move your playhead on the timeline. Remember, that first you have to CLICK on the stopwatch to start "keyframing". Once you have done that, ANY change you make in the values with all a keyframe to the timeline. You must MOVE your playhead and then again change the values. This will create 2 keyframes and when you preview the design between keyframes something will move. Test it out! :)
You mean the keyframes or ? I press U to reveal them on any given layer and then you can click and move them. First, before you move them you actually have to create them, they are what determine the entire animation, because they symbolize change in a given property like position or size over time :)
Hm I think that would be hard because we don't actually work on a path here, we work on a SHAPE and you can't easily convert a shape to more letters (more shapes)
You mean the align buttons? No problem you can activate the entire panel by going to WINDOW > ALIGN. By default it is not visible. If you mean the anchor point you need to click on the shape layer itself and the content inside of it and it will become visible to you
Hey there, as you can see it's Adobe Color Themes. Since After Effects CC2015 that little plugin was integrated and is available to use in all after effects versions greater than the 2015 one as far as I remember :)
WTF THANK YOU! I’ve legit been trying to make this with the pen tool this whole time!

Love this tutorial--thank you! Question: is it possible to create these paths using different types of paintbrushes or caligraphy lines?

I'll definitely check it out. This should save me time going back & forth from illustrator copying and pasting paths

@@aftereffectschannel1264 great time saver add on for Ae-Ai integration. Should have been native by Adobe
If you want to use the fill, then add an Offset Paths to the Shape, and the Fill will appear inside the Stroke!
Awesome hint Sean, kudos my friend
can i make it loop?
Wonderful video! Is there any way to apply the same effect to a mask path? I have been trying but can't seem to make it happen...

thank you :)

hello... May i know when to get the software of after effects?
you can download the creative cloud app and get it 7-days for free. Sadly after that it's a paid program.
😎😎 interesting
Thank you a lot ^^
Sorry but how u move those little circle on the time line i'm new here :(

@@aftereffectschannel1264 I created everything, but but spiral is not moving at all.
In this the animation is anticlockwise. How can we make it clockwise?
just invert keyframes
can i convert this into a path for my text?
Hm I think that would be hard because we don't actually work on a path here, we work on a SHAPE and you can't easily convert a shape to more letters (more shapes)
I don't have the center button what could be the reason?
You mean the align buttons? No problem you can activate the entire panel by going to WINDOW > ALIGN. By default it is not visible. If you mean the anchor point you need to click on the shape layer itself and the content inside of it and it will become visible to you
How do I add the second shape layer?
Just CTRL+D on the original shape layer to duplicate it, change color / maybe stagger it a little so it starts later and you have two swirls :)
orale mano que bueno eres =)
I don't quite understand, but...thanks I hope that is a positive comment :D
may i ask u something? what is the name of this color menu?
:)
