You sir, are a bloody legend! These are some of the absolute best tutorials I've ever come across, THANK YOU SO MUCH for making them! Not only are they really well constructed and easy to follow along, you're also an absolute delight to learn from. In all my years of learning to create with Adobe I've never found anyone else who makes me smile this much while learning what I can do with all the mystical treats these programs have on offer. Thank you for doing a bloody excellent job at being you and for taking the time to share your fabulous brain box x
Evan, you must have been INSIDE MY HEAD because it was just yesterday I was considering how I would accomplish this very thing... the answer is so simple - a single very long or very tall comp. Thanks for saving me many headaches!
Grids, guides, and holding shift when I pull out the handles at regular intervals and angles. Nice and even and symmetrical and boring is the life for me :)
I was looking for this all over the internet for the last couple of days but couldn't find any tutorial or what it's called. Then I came across your tutorial!! I was like why I didn't see this before and then noticed you just posted it! You da best!! Your tutorials are always very unique!
@@ECAbrams A 3D approach would be super cool. There's always more than 1 way to do an effect depending on what you're trying to accomplish. I know there's a cool way of doing the trails with Particular but I haven't fully figured out how to do that.
@@KurtisBenson Ah! Then some #spoilers here, when we revisit this kind of thing we'll definitely be working in the particular aux-particle solution and probably a c4d lite approach for good measure.
This tutorial is gold 😍 Did i miss you explain how you make the circle animation when the balls arrive at the end, or is it not mentioned? Was also interested in that for another practice project i'm doing.
Can you please make a tutorial showing a something like a rocket ship moving past stars then stopping/ slowing down next to some some planets before continuing before continuing on and looping? I've been trying to ages and it's driving me crazy Thanks a lot!
Thank you! I think I got what I needed from this tutorial. I’m transforming a 2d graphic of some interconnected plant roots into an animated graphic of the plant roots interconnecting with each other. If you have some other tutorials you think might be helpful feel free to throw them at me. If I manage to pull it off I will for sure tag you in the final product!
Great tutorial! One thing though, I made some banner ads using roughly the same method of a bigger comp with paths from Illustrator moving in a smaller viewport. I animated it using only position of the bigger comp. My point is that using a camera seems a little too much, the animation doesn't need one…
Thank you so much! I'm learning After Effects CC (2020 Release) from the Classroom in a Book I bought from Amazon. Great video! I'm on an After Effects kick right now! Love the things I can do. I'm just consuming everything I can get.
Hey Evan, this really is a great rig for these simple but elegant movements. Sometimes it's these little things to make an easy looking animation really easy animating.
Dude, this is amazing. I've been doing the same type of visuals lately, but definitely doing it the hard way. I learned like 5 new things in this video!
Very cool! But I had lots of problems getting (and keeping) all the paths in the right place. Is there a seperate tutorial about that? Zeroing out, put anchor point in the middle and that sort of stuff?
There's Form used in the work file? That seems like an oversight on my part. You can ignore that message and delete any instances of form you find. It has not impact on the techniques we're examining in this tutorial. it is a lovely 3rd aprty plugin from red giant. I should fix up the aep to not have any instances of that around.
I would like to create a dotted path swirling down my webpage crossing some sections in Elementor. Do you have ay suggestions on how to achieve this? Thank you in advance and many thanks for your brilliant tutorial.
Thank you very much for your answer. BUT... the first vertex is at its place at the beginning of the line. Nevertheless, the Null object-Trace path starts from the middle. It's driving me crazy!!! On top of this it appears and runs outside and far away of the line.
When you look at the motion path of the null, how does it compare to the shape layer path? Could it be some scale and position change has taken place so the movement of the null needs to be moved and scaled down to match? Or the path needs to be moved and scaled up to match? It sounds to me like something is amiss like that.
Hi Evan! Any possibility of a tutorial expanding on the visualizing/prepping the canvas needed for the type framing you mentioned 1:38? Not for this specific project, but for 3D type projects in general. It made so much sense here but that tends to be a sticking point for me! Thanks!!
Depends. You can make any layer 3d that you want. Now, is that a stroke with depth? Not really. To make a stroke in 3d space as you would with a sweep in c4d for example is not natively possible and would need 3rd party plugins.
There needs to be a "reaction" video made showing people watching this with their jaws on the floor ... while having big, goofy, grateful grins on their faces.
"... pickwhip holding down shift so all the properties get zeroed out..." Life.Changed.
its esepcially important shortcut when you are 3d tracking a lot of shit in 3d space.. its very useful

Really helpful hahaha
100%. Lost my shit when it worked XD
YES, Overloard! I can't believe I didn't know about that for too long. Such a time saver.

Was already subscribed, but this tutorial is THE ONE. Unbelievable how difficult this is in AE
Actually works.. Just disable the real time protection in Setting. Wasnt sure that it would work .Awesome bruh..

I'm currently working on a project as I type this that is very similar to this. You have some really awesome and helpful tips! Thank you!
That's a fun coincidence! Now, would it be handy to have a fully 3d approach as well? I was planning on making that the followup in a couple weeks.

hey! your lighting and picture quality looks better than before. Good job.
lol. Some lights and a cheap lil 4k camera will do that. Now I just have to get my colour grading situation locked down. Glad you enjoy it!
