    I can remember Dr Kibe saying that we need to take more boiled chicken than the fried one. Now I get the explanation. I really like the way the Doc here explains everything.

    I can testify what he said is true. I was 95 KGs in November 2023 and I have cut down to 80KGs as of today. I quit all sugar and carbs and increased physical activity thru walking only. The game of weight loss I have come to discover is all about insulin.

    Very interesting conversation, i was hooked to the very end. Thanks Daktari for the amazing work. However, 3500/= is a bit expensive for normal folks but ofcourse it's cheaper relative to the Ultimate cost of lifestyle diseases. I will purpose to have the book at some point. But if you could make ebooks of the book Daktari, i.e. soft copy version, i believe it would be a bit affordable, easier to access and read, and also convenient for the digitalized generation. Ciao.

      I totally hear you on the price point. 3500 isn't exactly pocket change, but you're right, it's definitely an investment in your health compared to the bigger picture.
      On the ebook tip, that's a fantastic suggestion! We're actually working on making a digital version of the book available. It might take a little bit longer to get things finalized, but stay tuned because I'll definitely be letting you know when it's ready.

    • @TheJagero
      @TheJagero  3 місяці тому

      This way of eating is unlikely to completely reverse asthma, but it can definitely help manage symptoms. A healthy diet can reduce inflammation in the body, which can improve lung function and make it easier to breathe. If you're interested in learning more about managing asthma through diet, we recommend talking to the doctor about your concerns.

    Lifestyle is more than just eating or intermittent fasting. You need to stay active and get sufficient exercise as well which leads to improved blood flow and oxygen capacity of the lungs. Overall health mindset. Intermittent fasting and reducing intake of calorie rich foods (carbohydrates and sugars) helps control spikes in blood sugar levels. Spikes in blood sugar levels in turn leads to insulin release spikes to counter the high blood sugar levels. Insulin spikes in turn leads to fat accumulation in the liver; fatty liver disease leads to insulin resistance! A vicious cycle has been established! Weight gain then starts. You need to break out of this cycle to stop weight gain and reverse it entirely! Reduce the intake of simple carbohydrates and other sugar rich foods (including fruits). You get all the vitamins and nutrients needed by the body from vegetables; fruits which are high in sucrose and fructose are not necessary!

    • @TheJagero
      @TheJagero  4 місяці тому

      You're absolutely right, fasting isn't the whole picture! It's like that awesome training montage in a movie - gotta have the workout AND the healthy diet to truly transform. High five for mentioning exercise and blood flow - it's like giving your body a superhero upgrade.
      Now, about the carbs and fruits. You make a great point about sugar spikes, but fruits can still be part of a healthy lifestyle. The key is portion control and choosing lower-glycemic options like berries. Think of them as nature's candy - delicious and good for you in moderation. Vegetables are definitely our vitamin champions, but fruits bring a party of antioxidants too.
      Let's ditch the "vicious cycle" talk and focus on building a sustainable, healthy routine. We can swap sugary drinks for water, sneak more veggies into meals, and find ways to move our bodies that we actually enjoy. Baby steps lead to big changes! What are some of your favorite ways to stay active? I'd love to hear them!

    What about cooking vegetables the way we do it here, do we kill the nutrients?

    • @TheJagero
      @TheJagero  4 місяці тому +1

      Cooking methods can definitely affect nutrients in vegetables, but it's not all bad news.
      Here's the breakdown:
      Some nutrients are more sensitive: Water-soluble vitamins like Vitamin C and B vitamins can leach out during boiling.
      But some become more available! Heat can actually make some nutrients, like lycopene in tomatoes, easier for your body to absorb.
      Quick cooking is key: Steaming, microwaving, or stir-frying with a little healthy fat can help retain more nutrients.
      No matter how you cook them, vegetables are a great source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. So the most important thing is to enjoy them!

    While I agree with the good doctor I disagree with his suggestion that sugar is the only culprit as far as weight gain is concerned. Remember in his own words he says that Proteins can be converted to Carbs meaning if you eat too much proteins then you still have too much carbs to deal with. When all is said and done it is calories in and calories out and proteins and fats have more calories than carbohydrates

    How come guys who fully utilize sugar like athletes are still diagnosed with diabetes?

    • @TheJagero
      @TheJagero  4 місяці тому

      That's a great question! Athletes are definitely sugar-burning machines, but there are two main types of diabetes. Type 1 is more about your body not producing enough insulin, kind of like a key not fitting the lock for sugar to enter your cells. Even with all that exercise, if you have Type 1, your body still needs help.
