But the best part of having faith in GOD is even if you can't ever visit one of those beautiful churches, you can pray to the Lord in your humble shack because he is there ALSO⚠️
There were chiristian vikings.. it all just depends on your definition of vikings. As a semi-nomadic people swapping between a agricultural lifestyre to going "viking" as in, living in fjords, travelling to foreign countries while living of trading and piracy, there certainly were vikings going to church. The stave churches like Borgund and Urnes may carry on some traits of old pagan temples merged with later christian traits. To be clear: I'm not saying they are repurposed temples, but that there is a theory that the architecture is based on that of old temples. Another is that they were attempts to mimick basilicas. Having studied them quite a bit myself, I find the pagan roots explaination much more probable due to their square layout and other traits more closely resembling native stave constructions but with added decorations. One very layman argument as an example would be that if they really wanted to make a basilica out of wood, long halls would be a better and familiar starting point. Instead, the stave churches seem to be built for a different set of rituals, probably a more norse type of catholic christianity.
I thought that first church looked familiar. Looks just like the ones the JR Tolkien loving nerds went around burning down back in the 90's..and oooh the irony that final shot of a fire extinguisher at 1:14 😂🤣
Wait, I have seen the Gutted Notre Dame pictures mean after the massive fire not too long ago I know even with the Pandemic and the yellow vests protests they haven't been able to repair the cursed church yet.
And now the Hagia Sophia is a mosque. PM Erdogan many months ago, declared the church returned to Islam and is now one of the largest Mosques in Istanbul.
@@voldeficient why not? a Mosque is still a church. The Temple mount in Jerusalem is also a church, for BOTH Judaism and Islam. The religion itself doesn't matter, a beautiful place of worship is always a beautiful church.

I am really surprised that you did not include the Chapelle of Notre Dame du Haut, designed bryLe Corbusier at Ronchamp., in South Eastern France. Anyone not familiar with this church will be fascinated to discover this beautiful building as an expression of faith and reverence.
A well-summarized info source that was available only on encyclopedias with a couple of audio perks back in the 1980s. Such meaningful progress to achieve further discoveries in this kind of study.
This video is delightful to watch either so many beautiful and different churches, full of information and historical facts. These churches are different with unique styles but gorgeous indeed. The Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain, is worth seeing if in person. It is breathtaking. Love the video, it is impressive and definitely worth watching. 👏👏👍👍🙌🙌♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
If you have the chance to visit La Sagrada Familia make sure to take a few minutes to view it from the Park across the street. Also, I disagree that the beauty is on the inside. It is stunning by the carvings on the outside of the Basilica are just as amazing. Best to get a guide book that gives the details otherwise it is a lot to take in.

Oh yes, with the stolen gold and silver from the new world covering certain churches, and don't forget the gemstones by the most powerful church at the time.

Wow! Each one of these churches is beautiful and I would be happy to visit any/all of them. Thank you for sharing!
The little black church in Norway is sooooo beautiful.

You missed the Chuch of Birnau near Konstanz in Germany
Wow super video 💖
You seem to forgot Tatev monastery and Geghard monastery which was carved in a mountain more than 1500 years ago….

one of the most, the oldest, biggest , IN THE WORLD,,,,,, I lost count of how many there are.
Despite the negative comments, I’m so glad you highlighted the less obvious churches some of us have never seen before!
Thank you for this! 🙏❤️
How could you miss St. Basil's? Far more popular and interesting than a lot of the ones mentioned here.
I guess they never heard of or saw Notre Dame in Paris. Quel dommage! And Hagia Sofia certainly counts as a church, truly iconic in its history.
Wait, I have seen the Gutted Notre Dame pictures mean after the massive fire not too long ago I know even with the Pandemic and the yellow vests protests they haven't been able to repair the cursed church yet.
"La Sagrada Familia"
The most favorite one ever...
Love to visit one day...
Same here! I’ve visited many beautiful cathedrals in the world, but none compare to the beauty of “La Sagrada Familia”!
I live in Arizona and the chapel of the cross is absolutely beautiful and during the winter when it snows it absolutely breath taking
I was there. It was 105 degrees that day!
And now the Hagia Sophia is a mosque. PM Erdogan many months ago, declared the church returned to Islam and is now one of the largest Mosques in Istanbul.
That's what i thought as well, so shouldn't be featured in this List !!

Sainte-Chapelle in Paris should have been on this list

What makes a church truly beautiful is the faith of the people inside it. Some of the prettiest churches are spiritually empty inside.
Hagia Sophia is not a Church, This is the mosque because the name of Muhammad and his messangers are written there,
All Churches are so beautiful but church in Slovenia is my favourite
I guess the author should say “my opinion” to keep people from saying but what about this? Thank you for posting these. Only been in the one in AZ.

Oh come Holy Arousa in Benin city, Edo state, Nigeria isn't here'? It is the oldest Church in West Africa. ..🙄🤔
St. Peter's Basilica didn't make the list? What about Notre Dame? Or Basilica de Guadalupe in Mexico City?
The most beautiful and awe inspiring Cathedral's I have experienced are the Norman Gothic of England.
Church of Christ is the best Church in Whole the world only in the Philippines but spread in the other country 🇮🇹
So cool .. truro cathedral in Cornwall is superb .. but so many with a visit.. and love to go back to the Sacrè - Coeur once again

Jewish & Christians are most educated than any religion even to atheist. Lol
Thank God their rich culture of painting rocks and dancing around a bonfire is being revived by neo-pagans.
wtf a lot of Germans still heavily believe in god. And that is good!
@@Tobi-ln9xr I never said thay don't believe God I said there biggest mistake was bringing Christianity into the German culture.
