The first time i actually notice that their was probably a calorie system I had to twin girls. As babies and toodlers I tried to keep them on the same eating schedule. But one girl I accidentally fed more especially as a toddler she ate a lot of cake. When they became kids I noticed she was a tad bit wider then her twin. Yeah it's great they gave a way for Sims to control weight. I'm having tons of people on this video today for some reason. How'd you even find it? was it on the home page?

My Sims on the Sims 4 aren’t exactly what I would call “fat”, a lot of them just become “disproportionate”. I need a calorie list! This was very helpful. 💯💯🤩
I had a sim get pregnant but also pretty much only eat cake for the entire pregnancy (She had a caterer over make cakes so she had a ton of leftovers). Her and her husband gained SO much weight. They were over double their marriage weights-- had to throw out all the cake and make them exercise every day but it worked. I can appretiate the realism.
Your guides are always the best! When Sims 3 was live.. you were the only source I used! [Still the same for Sims 4!!] Thank you for putting so much work into your content! Definitely going to check out your patreon.
I was talking to someone about a mod idea recently to have some drawbacks for too much fat, like aches and pains in late adulthood or risk of early death at the elder stage. I think that sounds kinda fun and gives fitness a real purpose but I think it'd be something where the person making it is afraid to offend someone.
@@CarlsSimGuides my female Sims become chubby kids and very overweight teens no matter how active they are. What can you feed toddlers to stop them getting fat?
recipe for sims in good shape: - never lets the Hunger bar 100% full (more-less 90 is enough) - jogging or hour of training every few days (or everyday) - low-calorie food (in exaple salads) - eat only when hunger bar is (at least) yellow
So if my Sim or the Sim I marry is too skinny, I can make them better by having them eat cake and lobster thermidor? Awesome! You are a life saver! Thank you!
As much as I like this system, I would love to have the ability to determine whether my Sim gains fat faster or slower and also to see how many calories a meal has. I myself can eat what I want without getting fat and my hunger gets satisfied very quickly, my Sim however has to go for a jog and eat salad to keep her very thin shape. It's kinda annoying
This is very informative Carl! Thanks for posting again. ETA: because you only covered base game you didn't mention our good friends yoga mat and climb wall, by personal experience it seems to work like the punching bag, but this is just guessing because I don't know how to check the game data like you do. That excel chart looks amazing.
in one game I had a sim that I wanted to have no cooking skill, so I made her only order pizza. Even eating only when hungry, she became pretty fat quickly.
for my first play through, I had everyone (about 7 Sims) eat roughly the same amount of food and same types of food. When everyone got old, 6 sims were extremely chubby and 1 was extremely thin. He was also immortal and outlived everyone, including great grandchildren, until I finally killed him off.
I never heard about the only eating when you’re hungry thing. I was always told they won’t gain if you don’t let them fill up their hunger bar fully. That’s always worked for me.
Thank you! I am struggling to keep my sims looking the way i made them. One got waayyy too skinny and i cant get her to gain weight. One she got a little bigger but cant get her to lose. And my older guys are a mess.
Thank You SO much for helping us understand how Sims get fat! I have been struggling with this for quite some time with at least two of my Sim guys. I have read the info on your website and I love this video you have made for us. I visit your site all the time to find out more about game play since we can no longer buy Sims game guides as they seem to have gone the way of the dinosaurs. I just copied and printed the list of foods from you site for quick reference while I am in game. I will refer to this list often. Thanks again for ALL you do for us! P.S. I have played The Sims ever since the first it first came out many years ago. I have read your site many times to help me understand how things work. Please keep doing what you do.
Very helpful. I never thought calories will still make a play in this game. Just like in real life i guess. It has been very annoying sometimes coz i always have to look out for my sims' muscles. Thanks carl for the guide btw!!
Great video, I was wondering why my Sim had a bigger belly than her first photos show - had no idea they could get fat, wish there was a mod to prevent it, I don't want the game that realistic - if you can get rewards like never weary and iron bladder there should be a freeze body size option. Oh well, garden salads & jogging it is, poor Sim!
Mine never get fat, but the townies do! Sometimes I modify them in CAS to put then back to the original weight, but then after a while they get fat and I never play with them 🤦🏻♀️
I have the opposite issue, I am constantly struggling to keep my Sims at a healthy weight. I make sure they eat some fatty food as well as making them have a quick meal and or a dessert... Wish real life was so easy!
When did this change in the game? I never used to have to worry about their weight. It's not a problem at all, I love the realism. I just feel like I noticed it having an effect recently and now I see this guide, leading me to believe it's a fairly new tweak to the game.
I had a vampire sim keep gaining weight even though she had the trait that didn’t allow her to eat human food at all and therefor didn’t ever eat anything but plasma. She did have quite a lot of pregnancies as I’m doing 100 baby challenge, so I assumed A. Sims automatically gain weight from pregnancy and will always have to work out to take it off or B. Plasma has calories. However, her daughter never gains any weight other than her pregnancy belly so now I’m thinking there may be a bug in there somewhere given the inconsistencies 😐
Same. Cause I do the 100 baby challenge and while the mama gradually gets thicker which is fine I noticed that most of my kids are thicc already from toddler stages on even though they’re often multiples and I give them all garden salad, all at the same time and only when starving. So I don’t even bother anymore. They get moved out anyway and whenever I wanna do a spin off with one of the kids I just cheat them normal weighted once I start playing them after the move out
I had noticed that the original Sims I created since getting the game (more than a month ago) looked different from how I originally created them. Cannot believe they added a feature that makes Sims gain weight over time! Thanks for this video because now I can stop bugging out about this lol
I recently found out my sim has a six pack, I gave her the athletic aspiration so it probably has something to do with that I like to make my sims super fat and then see how much weight they can loose, it's a surprisingly fun challenge
its soooooo annoying when a sim lives in a university dorm bc they can only eat microwaved and quick meals so they gain LOADS of weight while in uni and dont have time to lose it until they graduate 😭
its kinda crazy that the game has it's own calorie system. I mean right? That's a detail I'd never expect to think of. I knew about sims gaining weight but I certainly did not know about this.
I’ve taken to having my families live off of salad and eating fruits or veggies from their gardens as snacks. I only wish I could do this in real life! 😜
I notice that my sims somtimes get a bit thicc when I have lack of exercise in their lives but it’s good this feature cos then I either send them to a gym or make them jog... or if they’re skilled in logic, make a slimify potion or just buy one from the rewards store 😂
Female Sims giant pregnant weight that they can’t loose. I play Family-based games & many of the Wives once they have had 2 or more babies they get fat around their tummies, Bums, hips & thighs that, even if they are level 10 Fitness, don’t loose. That’s what I’ve found anyway.
My sims tend to get really fat at university, I think because the food roommates bring has a lot of calories and all they do is sit around doing homework

My sim lost a whole dress in 2 days using the treadmill. Wish that was real life.
I actually love it. Makes it so realistic.
This is so detailed!
Thank you for explaining this to me! My butler got super fat even though i was encouraging him to exercise.
I just force them to run in the threadmill every chance I get
Your guides are always the best! When Sims 3 was live.. you were the only source I used! [Still the same for Sims 4!!] Thank you for putting so much work into your content! Definitely going to check out your patreon.
🤦♀️😑 I always thought fish tacos were better than mac and cheese! Idk where Id be without Carls Sims Guides.
You have been my Sims go-to guide for a very long time, and I'm loving your UA-cam channel. Keep up the good work!
I just let my sims get fat most of the time lol. If I want them to lose weight I make them drink a potion
Moana 😂😂
@@CarlsSimGuides I'm kind of late as of rn, but there's a mod called Private Practice or something, it's about that kind of thing.
recipe for sims in good shape:
- never lets the Hunger bar 100% full (more-less 90 is enough)
- jogging or hour of training every few days (or everyday)
- low-calorie food (in exaple salads)
- eat only when hunger bar is (at least) yellow
So if my Sim or the Sim I marry is too skinny, I can make them better by having them eat cake and lobster thermidor? Awesome! You are a life saver! Thank you!
I can't get enough of his videos...😊
Wow thank you so much, i didnt know that being health body wise was as complicated and difficult in game as it is in real life! 😅🤨😣
oh wow did you always have a youtube channel? i've always used your site over the years of playing the sims!
Since July 2018 :)
They really should. Some sims have high or low metabolisms which is cool, since it's random like humans are, but we should be able to choose...
namjooncansteponmeandiwouldthankhim idk about you guys but I use mods in my game so I just give them the low/high metabolism traits lol
Thanks so much, my Sim lost weight. I switched to the body builder and followed your eating tips.
My sim, was supposed to be chubby, NOT FAT, but chubby, anyway, and he exercised and now he’s thick with abs?!
My sims have never weary so i just have them go jog or have a teen jog to clear their mind
This was super helpful. Thank you for making this ❤️
Thanks for the guidelines on how much exercise our Sims need to maintain their appearance!
I didn’t even think about that 🤷🏾♀️
Thank you! I am struggling to keep my sims looking the way i made them. One got waayyy too skinny and i cant get her to gain weight. One she got a little bigger but cant get her to lose. And my older guys are a mess.
My sim was fat but had abs so I just went in myself to fix it
and here i am my sims get so freakin buffed
I’ve gained weight myself so let’s see if I can lose weight with my sim! We’re in this together! 🦾
I was kind of surprised how slowly they lose weight, but it'd still be so much better than having to do it as a human.
Go on testingcheats true and then cas.fulleditmode to change their frame and weight. It’s what I do all the time
Mine never get fat, but the townies do!
I just feel like I noticed it having an effect recently and now I see this guide, leading me to believe it's a fairly new tweak to the game.
it's been in the game waaaaaaayyy back when there were only two dlcs. I've noticed this for a while
I had a vampire sim keep gaining weight even though she had the trait that didn’t allow her to eat human food at all and therefor didn’t ever eat anything but plasma.
They get moved out anyway and whenever I wanna do a spin off with one of the kids I just cheat them normal weighted once I start playing them after the move out
I always wondered why some of my sims that had abs when I created them would just disappear overtime. I thought it was a glitch😂
It won't be glitch nor bug too but
It is a realistic :)
Thanks for this! It really confirmed some of my suspicions.
ohhhh so that’s why all my skinny sims end up huge by elder age 😂🙏🏻
when you have pets around the house that always want to go jogging your sims don't have a chance to gain weight lmao
I had noticed that the original Sims I created since getting the game (more than a month ago) looked different from how I originally created them. Cannot believe they added a feature that makes Sims gain weight over time! Thanks for this video because now I can stop bugging out about this lol
my sim gained weight after pregnancy, i think it's a great realistic detail
Why would people hate this its quite realistic tbh.
I recently found out my sim has a six pack, I gave her the athletic aspiration so it probably has something to do with that
I like to make my sims super fat and then see how much weight they can loose, it's a surprisingly fun challenge
CloudyGamer41 I did that challenge too and she essentially got her life together and got a husband and a daughter 😁
CloudyGamer41 OMG! I like to make them really fat & ugly then make them lose weight & give them a makeover!
I remember putting my sim into plan outfits and notice he hips be biggggg
its soooooo annoying when a sim lives in a university dorm bc they can only eat microwaved and quick meals so they gain LOADS of weight while in uni and dont have time to lose it until they graduate 😭
its kinda crazy that the game has it's own calorie system. I mean right? That's a detail I'd never expect to think of. I knew about sims gaining weight but I certainly did not know about this.
I’ve taken to having my families live off of salad and eating fruits or veggies from their gardens as snacks. I only wish I could do this in real life! 😜
Nice, I love your website by the way! Great work
are you kidding I thought my game was glitching out!! i noticed my sims weren't slim thicc, they were just thicc LOL. thanks for this vid
I notice that my sims somtimes get a bit thicc when I have lack of exercise in their lives but it’s good this feature cos then I either send them to a gym or make them jog... or if they’re skilled in logic, make a slimify potion or just buy one from the rewards store 😂
Very interesting! Thanks for covering this topic.
Thank you for this video!
My sims tend to get really fat at university, I think because the food roommates bring has a lot of calories and all they do is sit around doing homework
