    Nice video....I have been considering this for fly fishing - the rivers and maybe lakes up here in Michigan. I assume you use this for your kayak fly fishing classes?

      SO sorry, for the very late reply. Yes, I currently use the Lite Tackle and Ultra Lites to teach fly fishing classes. I would highly recommend the LT over the UL, it offers more stability and more room for the longer fly rods.

      The seat is 18" wide frame edge to frame edge. the seat straps do allow some extra room if needed.

    I am really liking all the information I'm reading about the Crescent Lite Tackle. However, I can't get over the low seat position. The riser seems to work, but it's just a hunk of plastic raising up the seat. Why in the world would Crescent not make this into the boat like so many other manufacturers. I really want this boat, but I'm going to go with something else.

    • @kayakflyfishingschool
      @kayakflyfishingschool  4 роки тому +2

      The seat riser is a solution to allow the current model and those who own them to change the seat to a higher position without having to replace the entire seat assembly. A cost effective way to address a "want" from some of the owners of the Lite Tackle. Crescent Kayaks is currently working on an updated version of the seat that will allow one seat to be switched between high/low positions for future release. The cost to customers to purchase this seat riser versus an entire new seat is likely to be less than 40% and they have no need for two seats.
      Please do not dismiss the Lite Tackle or Crescent because they responded to a request by some of their current owners and offered a solution to address it, if anything that should be a positive thing for them, not a negative.
      I am unsure of the Seat Version 2 release date, however with all the effects that COVID has had across all areas of manufacturing, it may be awhile before the adjustable seat (high/low) position is available.

    How do you like that extra height

    • @kayakflyfishingschool
      @kayakflyfishingschool  3 роки тому

      I like it for comfort, it makes it easier on my back, knees, and hips when sitting. It also makes it easier to sit and stand.
      It affects the efforts of the paddle stroke but increased height will do that.

    Does the riser make the boat more unstable?

    • @kayakflyfishingschool
      @kayakflyfishingschool  2 роки тому

      It raises your center of balance and gravity, while that doesn’t really affect the stability of the kayak. But, that increased height of balance means that the tipping point (initial/primary stability) is decreased.
      So while it didn’t make it more unstable, it does increase the feel of what is commonly referred to as tippiness.

    How does the seat riser effect the tipping over of the kayak?

    • @kayakflyfishingschool
      @kayakflyfishingschool  4 роки тому +1

      Anytime you raise your center of balance or center of gravity you decrease the stability. In the Lite Tackle the 5 inches of height increase does alter the stability, but to a minimum degree. The most noticeable difference in stability is when you reach for something over the side, but it is still a minimal impact.

      @@Just_the_Q nice!! They are great kayaks.
      I am 6 foot, 185lbs. I find that the five inches of height puts my hips in a more comfortable position and allows me to sit and stand easier as well as get on and off the kayak easier.
      One additional advantage that the seat riser adds is a bit of storage under your seat that is easy to reach when sitting down.

      They do not make a Camo one at this time.

    Just received the seat riser for my ck1 and it seems like a very poor fit. I wonder if the lite tackle is slightly wider than the venture and that is the reason. Not happy about the fit. I do like the seat position and it will help a ton with standing up to fish and sitting back down. However, for the price, it seems like a very inexpensive piece of plastic, that is also very noisy, and doesn’t fit. Going to to have to do some modifications.

    • @kayakflyfishingschool
      @kayakflyfishingschool  3 роки тому

      The seat riser for both are the same and are interchangeable. I have a few of them and all work in either kayak.
      Maybe you have a Crew riser instead of a CK1/LT riser, they are a different measurement.
      Can you measure how wide the seat riser is from side to side and from to back, at the most outer edges? I will see if I can help determine what might be the issue.

      @@kayakflyfishingschool 21 x 23. There is 2 inches of space between the riser and the boat if I push it against one side. It will work, but it seems like a very bad fit. Also, in your video, you don’t show how to install the side bungees, maybe those were already in the lite tackle? No instructions were sent. I love this boat, I love the company, but this is rather frustrating.

      The Lite Tackle already had bungees installed that held tackle boxes, so there was nothing to video in this video. @@pjmcguire01 you got it!!! That extra space is to ensure the bungees can secure it at a better angle, rather than just straight down. The eyelets on either side is where the bungees install. :)
