Excuse my ignorance, but is he actually doing anything apart from launching scenes in Live and triggering effects? Don´t get me wrong, the boy is a genius, but there is not much you can do with two kaoss pads to control Ableton, even if you are using them in midi mode, which is a total overkill considering the amount of better controllers you have in the market
+A BGON i believe that he uses kaoss pads to add effects on clips
Definitely just effecting clips in ableton. So, it is s bit of overkill with the body language but he is a great producer despite the knob/pad flare. Saw sbtrkt once and he was going knobby on an apc 40. I was like "wth"
+MISTER KLIENFELD I just feel a bit underwhelmed about his live show. So much talent wasted (he is arguably the best electronic producer at this point in time) to become another button pusher playing safe on stage
+A BGON
I am disappointed like everyone else about how a few stage performances now a days are just clip launches in ableton live. He has a few of the channels in one track split up, I am guessing 4 because he is using a 4 channel mixer. 3 of them are going thru the 3 kaoss pads, and he is only doing modulation on top of extremely warped [pre recorded] sounds of his tracks. So do not be fooled about the sounds, the sounds in the track are not being created just effected.
So when I saw him life, I saw him going much more wilder than he is in this video. But still I wonder if he just spins the dry/wet knob on the kaoss pads and just fools around with the pad and then hear and there you hear an effect.
He practically did nothing in this video. BTW. I know just a few things about audio connections, I am no pro and this is my understanding of how he is doing things.
I love his music, but the performance is very ....... misleading?
Nils farmh does some of this stuff too. Sometimes you would just see him moving with so much energy on his setup but he quite literally is holing a knob, looks like its not even turned and the track is playing on its own. But he plays keys and all the rest.
I love his music too!
i'm with the lighter person!
Regardless his tracks are still superb and he is an excellent piano player. So, despite the ridiculousness of his stage gimmicks the tracks are solid. Sometimes the flare keeps the crowd engaged I suppose. Once I see the no headphones I already have an idea as to what is happening. When I perform live there will be actual gear on stage and errors. Many errors. Those sound the best. 😂
