On a journeyer for the knife I like to carry on a 3100 mile hike of CDT in 2023. I went from Becker Necker to Mora Kansbool to Mora Eldris to finally Mora Companion Spark. After your video I went ahead. Thank you!
Dude I've carried a mora companion everyday for well over a year and have been looking for a knife to put in my camping backpack I'm am definitely going to be putting this in there
Just saw the spark at an Academy sports the other day and was like Oooh that could be cool! But since I already have the Mora bushcraft black I passed on it as I'm trying not to be such a gear nut lately. So I have to convince myself that the gear I'm buying now is serving a purpose that all my other gear isn't. Thanks for reminding me that it will make a nice water kniv since its stainless👍 Convincing accomplished, I will be picking one up to use as my Kayaking kniv as soon as possible! 😂 Boy do I need help. Anyone out there have the same problem, I'm sure we are many. My worst fetish is camping cookware for some reason, I must have 20 different cook sets. Man O man😂
Sean Duncan I was lucky 🍀 to get Mora Light My Fire 🔥 and works absolutely amazing, I always have Mora Companion in Carbon Steel and any Ferro Rod..BTW All Rods are acting differently but after a lot of practice and tests,it’s all about skill level you have...
Just bought on the bay, An HTG KJ Eriksson with Sheath (with the renown button hole) Knife in stainless steel. Paid $30, probably too much. But, it had the KJ Eriksson logo on the blade versus the new Morakniv logo (after the merger of kj Eriksson and Frost). It will become a permanent fixture inside my Jackson Kraken 15'7" kayak because of the stainless blade. Since, I don't want to lose my beloved and discontinued Bark River Gameskeeper II, in the Atlantic Ocean/Gulf of Mexico.
Damn youtube, not showing this in my recommended. I've been watching all these Mora reviews, even the LMF knife, but no. This is not in my feed. I get all sorts of crap I am not interested in, but not this, which I actually like. It only seems natural that after I buy a LMF, I discover by accident that they put a ferro rod in a Companion. Well, never hurts to have a back-up. Gonna get this too.
The companion spark despite the fact that it is inexpensive is, in my opinion, the best fire-starting knife I have ever used. It's extremely simple to wield, has a great spine, and is durable enough to process softwoods without breaking or bending. I would take this with me anywhere, it's reliable and sturdy. Great product from Morakniv!
Thanks for the review, this is the first ive seen on this! I have a Light My Fire knife and the blade was just a little too small, so i threw it in my bugout bag as a backup. I like the fact that they've used the larger companion blade with a 90 degree spine. Ill probably pick one up at some point to have fun at camp, lol.
Mora Companion was $16 Couglands fire 🔥 Rod $4 total $20..Yes You have to sharpen spine yourself...Cheapest Mora Light my Fire 🔥 was $32 CDN..Fire Rod is short but works..This new one,,I don't know.??
Check out Chris Thorn over at Drop Forged Survival for instructions on using that fire tape. Great review on the Mora! Always liked the idea of a ferro rod knife combo. Keep up the good work.
Hans- Jürgen Wiegand the idea is, you carry this and use it in the woods and you create a valuable skill. You can use stuff you find as long as you have the knife and ferro rod with you

Sounds like a great backup survival knife. Something to throw into kits just in case.
You forgot to mention that major difference in blades. The Spark has a 90 degree ground spine for fire starting. The Companion doesn't.
SolarBurrito good catch. Thanks.
Beat me too it! Yep, that is about the ONLY thing wrong with the stock Companion.
I Really Like it. You can lose a backpack, Run from a back pack or kit etc.
But with the Spark you have a Blade and fire at your side at all times.
I love these Michigan mornings

Fantastic tip, this! My next knife, for sure.
As long as they make flint rod replacements,Im in.The Light My Fire replacements rods aren't easily available.
The rod is a little to small for 35 bucks. Don't get me wrong Mora is damn good knife but not 100% sold on the spark for 35 bucks.
$21 on amazon right now...that sold me!
Wally Taggart BS...Mora Spark ⚡️ $38.25,,Mora Light My Fire 🔥 $78.96 CDN...It ain’t cheap...
@@ilijabosnjak76 no BS it was
Looks cool! We LOVE Mora Knives! 😍
Does the Mora Companion have a rounded back or squared off like the Spark?
Still can't figure out why they don't sell this in safety orange.
Love the Morakniv Companion!
Great knife. Thanks for watching.
I love mine... great video
Nice knife for the glovebox.
I'd buy it.

A bunch of reviews say the Companion is too rounded to throw sparks well, but here's you're saying the Spark is the same exact blade. What gives?
How does the Spark compare to the HD?
A little thinner blade 3.2 vs 2.5mm

Not a big fan of the roll, but I dig the fat rope and wax wood, Thanks Ben

Is the rod replaceable?
It is
Awesome video

It shouldn't have instructions. When you need a fire in a pinch then this stuff sucks
A Lighter would save time & money, especially if you have to carry fire starting materials. Good video, though!

Dude please pull the rod away from the knife not push the knife in to the rod so you wont throw your tinder around
Good video...I did a detailed comparison video between spark and light my fire
