Reuploaded to fix audio issues. The audio is still a tad funky around the 2-3 min mark but it smooths out so sorry if it feels weird for a second there.
@@neptuna does that mean u can pick and choose what silkbind u can use? Would be interesting if theres more than 2 choices of silkbind. And hopefully more than 3 total. If thats the case.
@@rafieivory I think that the demo is limites in many ways including silkbind stuff. I really think we can expect a lot more on full release in general ^^ (mechanics wise I mean) ^^
Something i discovered is that you can stab the wall with the glaive, and recharge your stamina and wirebug for free while being blocked on the wall. So basically you can glaive jump, dash, wire jump, dash, wire jump, dash (a third time of both if you have the third wirebug) then stab a wall, wait for your wirebug and stamina to reload and then repeat. SO MUCH FREEDOM.
Yes I was doing some climbing and discovered the same thing, you can also stab all your way up whitout the need of the wirebug, just jumping and stabing. The glaive it´s awesome
isnt the stab always there since world too? except in world u can only do it on the climbable vine anyway, but in rise you can literally do it in any wall i guess? in a way thats not a bad addition tbh, i would still main glaive, but i wont start as glaive since slow as fuck bug at the start.
@@sevenmaxx4872 Yeah, but my point was more that the Insect Glaive didn't get a lot of new stuff, which I didn't realize until later that it really didn't need a lot of new stuff. On the bright side, Hunting Horns be bitching now. They so cool.
to anything you want? It's a concern of mine since for some reason I could never get used to MHW controls, I quit the weapon altogether because I have old controls ingrained in my muscles I guess.
Lol yes! I was playing GU in waiting for Rise and the demo. The beginner bugs are so slow that I said screw it and stuck with dual blades until I had enough materials to get a fast enough bug to switch back to IG 😛
If I remember correctly, I started Generations with Adept style to not have to deal with the slow-ass bug, then switched to Aerial after I could upgrade the bug enough to make it not painful to use manually. That said, it's still really depressing when you realize you can run faster than your bug can fly.
@@william_sun Yeah I tried adept but didn't really love that either, just decided to play DB and CB until I could load up my bug with some amphetamines.
I’ve been an IG main since 4U and I have to say, this may be the first game in which I don’t use them. The IG feels like it has been massively downgraded from GU and it kind of makes me sad. The wire bug forward fling feels as if it misses all the time and tbh I just miss the aerial style.
@@knight50in75 yes you can but its a wire bug skill. IG actually has the most wire bug skills to unlock looking at the data mined extracts. Its just for some reason the demo version has the worst wire bug skills unlocked and the worst kinsect to boot.
Just use regular vault and press B to hurl to a targeted direction or A for a slow hovering attack. I just wish aerial strikes deal more damage if even just a little.
Just allow the hunter to connect the wirebug to the kinsect and pull off some fancy Yo-Yo trick moves that have increased break part or sever part chance. That would look flashy and cool. Could pull off some of these moves while vaulting.
Exactly I was really hoping for the kinsect and wirebug to have a move were they could work together, but we still haven't seen all of the wirebug moves so maybe there's still a chance.
This would make me love IG again, spinning your kinsect for quick collects or possible part breaks/severs (costing 2 wirebugs). I hope they make this an option in the full game.
Demo datamining shows that there are several other moves that can be used with wirebug for each weapons, think as swappable hunter arts from MHGU, so we'll see the rest in the final release
If you mean the kinsect attacking when you mark a target then yes it will have it. Though the kinsect in the demo doesn't have that functionality as when you read the IG weapon notes it says that there are SOME kinsects that attack when you mark OR leave dust when they attack. If the OR scenario is the case then they must have changed how kinsects can be upgraded whether they attack on marking for sustained damage or leave status dust when you send them out manually.
@@randonologic4684 Yeah same I was worried when I tried it out, It's gonna be so busted with the recall kinsect refreshing the stamina too, there's going to be clouds everywhere!
@@randonologic4684 it also seems like, according to the hunter notes, it is only blast clouds, and the "OR" in the hunter notes seems to mean you can either have auto tracking or the blast clouds, NOT both. But we shall see when the game fully releases
I don't really use IG, but I find it pretty fun in this demo. Some things to note, if you do use "B" to do a "fart evade" on the air you can do a wall jump, which can be chained together with another "fart evade" to do another wall jump and keeping this loop you can climb any wall. Also, the wirebug jump resets your fart. It's pretty fun: twitter.com/i/status/1347612233396674566 Edit: Here's the wall jump: twitter.com/i/status/1347646322547986432 You can do it faster if you keep pressing B, but I wanted to conserve stamina to climb higher.
@@sinteleon once we get marathon runner or other stamina reducing skills, that specific move, i.e. the lance charge will get way more use as it seems to eat through stamina like Deviljho eats through... well everything!
I really hope the other silkbind moves for insect glaive are better than the ones in the demo. It wasn't that they are bad or not working, rather, when compared to other weapons, I just didn't feel a need to use them. Other weapons have aerial vaults, advancing attacks, and power ups. Insect glaive has a vault and back hop in the demo, and during my play time I honestly forgot about them while fighting. The weapon is so great a mobility that I found the vault just wasn't worth using, when timed air attacks worked well enough for aerial combat. And while on the ground the recall wasn't needed since the glaive already has a back hop spin combo breaker that felt more fluid. Of course i-frames and other unique monsters/attacks, but it didn't feel like it was needed overall. I guess they have their specific uses, but I would have preferred more effort into kinsect/flurry attack silkbinds. Not that I'm saying there won't be in full game, but kind of a wasted slot in my opinion.
@Siberian While for some reason it wasn't in the demo for us to use, the downward thrust does exist. It's a wirebug move now. They showcased it in the trailer, though they didn't talk about it nor give us the chance to use it; probably because we already used it in World. Just know that it does exist in Rise!
@Iron Bear Not trying to be a dick or anything here...gave my true opinion up there. This kind of behavior on MH games isnt new, where you have to use a way over the top strategy to get good times or to just be effective at the game. It has agravated quikly with the clutch claw, although i think that it has great multiplayer potential, and it doesnt seem to have stoped with Rise. My real issue with the mount system in this game is that it has no "playarounds" if you just dont want to do it; it happens despite you desire, unlike the clutch claw. You either dont attack go sharpen or use some comsumables and sit around or you just have to engange. Thats it...no hard feelings too^^
@@XDD50Hz Charge blade has no silkbind damaging move in the demo, but every weapon has the dog to trampoline off and wirebug launches to get airborne easily. Charge blade can do a nice amount of aerial damage by using an axe attack once in the air with the dog or wiredubg - no ledges needed. If anything the charge blade's larger axe damage is beneficial for this I'd think. If you have phials ready, you can also combo into a discharge from the aerial axe attack if the monster gets toppled.
@@primecalibur tried the wire bug into air axe attack, still couldn’t even get one mount throughout the hunt, it’s just not efficient enough to do so tbh
@@XDD50Hz none? I've been able to get em fairly quickly - the first mount threshold is quite low. Just spam as much aerial damage as you can. You can jump off the dog if bugs are on cooldown too.
Went ahead and tested this out - found something interesting: Great Izuchi quest took only 2 aerial attacks to mount he Arzuros, and about 10 to mount the Great Izuchi. The Mizutsune quest took 3 aerial attacks to mount both the Great Izuchi and Rathalas, then about 13 to mount the Mizutsune. So what does this mean - the TARGET monster has a much higher mounting threshold than other monsters based on the Great Izuchi's difference between the quests. This encourages players to engage with those other monsters to get a quick mount, then use them to deal mounting damage to the target monster to make that mount more attainable. Interesting about the target monster, but overall I'd say this new system makes it easy for any weapon to contribute to a quick mount on any monster.
So from playing the demo, triple up actually gives you earplugs! I dont know about any other effects, but this is good news for kinsects because in world they could not do that, this weapon may actually have hope! Unfortunately aerial damage still doesnt seem to be as good. Marking is back to the old version, ehich is a really bad change because with omnidirectional aiming that is pointless. Also the dragoon dive has been removed from the base moveset, and tbh i have no idea how to perform it. More positively though, theres a cool trick where launching into a wall with the glaive out will let you cling to it.
That pretty much sums it up, the earplugs with triple up is definitely nice but it’s just giving back the Glaive what they once took away lol. As for the cling to walls thing, it was already a feature in world and iceborne. I’m really gonna miss the buffing the kinsect mechanic from iceborne tho, since the pierce damage from a strong slow kinsect with the descending thrust marking attack was mouthwatering damage
@@thewizward8471 there seems to be some promise of some more customisation options with the bugs since dust is still in apparently, the given bug just doesn’t do it. I would love if we got bugs as good as 4U and generations
Coming from World and GU, the awkward change for me and my SO was the ZR to use the bug instead of the other button equivalent. I think this will be the game where I'll be using Hunting Horn more. Obviously will still learn IG out, just find it awkward at the moment since it is new.
I really do like the ig in this game and still getting used to how it feels but... Is it just me or does the Ariel slam feels kinda off? Also maybe this is just a demo thing but I feel like mizu and rathian has weird invisible air hit boxes where sometimes I'll vult over them and I'll get hit. It's weird cause I never had this issue in previous games unless I got to close
Wirebugs took the unique character of the Insect Glaive in my opinion. Now we could fly like crazy with HBG or Hammer so I don't see a bright future for IG fans
As a IG main in world (obviously I played other weapons but this was my main), I will say that it does not feel good to play in rise at all. I struggled to try to find out to fire the kinsect at all. Also it’s less about being flashy for me and being practical? Like the moves shown so far are already things it can or could do in the past (the air evade and also in the combo you can attack/doge backward if you wish though no I-frames). The main point of the vault was the more you hit the monster the longer you can stay in the air for and mount if you want. Yes it’s more mobile, but it was already pretty mobile and could avoid a lot of moves (like fatalis’s wide fire breath won’t hit you in the air). I don’t really need more evade moves but more strength moves. I would suggest a move that maybe strengthens the power of kinsects like the slinger did in Iceborne; maybe a buff to marking the monster or a multi roundhouse slash move or something. Something to give it more kick and risk, not more evasion.
I am def struggling with the control changes a little bit at first, but the possibilities offered by the wirebug and palamute rising is just insane. I can't wait for this game!
My feelings on IG have always been a bit weird and Rise is no different. I started using it in GU and loved its ability to absolutely punish high/flying monsters with aerial attacks, so I've never understood the disdain for "aerial IG". At the same time, I wasn't crazy about the infinite-aerial-combo added in World, since I always felt like the goal isn't to combo in the air, it's to vault up, do some attacks - maybe jump over an attack and keep up the offense in the air - then land and go back to ground attacks. So on one hand I'm not crazy about its World moveset coming back basically unchanged, but I also don't have a problem with getting new stuff for aerial moves. The weapon isn't ruined, aerial moves still have a lot of utility, it'll be fine. The "recall kinsect" move is horribly named but actually solid. Not like "oh I'm in love with it", but solid. I can't complain about getting i-frames and disengage, a free heal and the kinsect's stamina going back to full (which, depending on what kinsects are able to do later in the game, could actually be very very useful). The silkbind vault is definitely a bit weirder - on one hand, it makes the IG's platforming absolutely *insane*, you can climb and move around the map in a way that puts all other weapons to shame, and it's fun - but on the other hand, I haven't seen it being of great use in actual hunting. It goes faster/farther than your basic vault, and it does reset your combo, I just don't feel like I need to do either of those, generally speaking. I'm going to still give it a fair shake and see if it can be put to good use, but I feel like if we end up getting a third silkbind (the descending thrust), but we can only equip two at once, the silkbind vault will be a pretty easy move to swap out and forget about. Unless we just want to go on an expedition and climb mountains, then the vault will be a must-have. Monsters? I can't even see them from up here. edit: After playing around more with the demo, the vault is honestly really useful for sticking to monsters, especially when they switch aggro. It goes well with the beyblade aerial, which has had its movement changed to be kind of harder to use by itself, but pairs well with the vault for a very fast descent. Basically when the monster moves, you vault to them and beyblade, doing some aerial damage and immediately landing to resume your ground attacks. Of course you can still do the regular vault for *technically* the same effect, but it's so much slower...against agile monsters it feels impractical compared to the silkbind vault. Overall, I think the weapon is in a weird spot right now, I'm not surprised that the community is torn or unhappy with it, but I'm just vibin'. Also people are not realizing that the demo hasn't really shown us anything around kinsects, they kinda stuck us with an awful potato kinsect - the full game will have kinsect auto-attacks/dust and, for all we know, late-game kinsects could be buffed as hell.
I can’t help thinking that silk bind attacks will be changeable like hunter arts. I am probably wrong but it feels like it’s set up for it as a customization option.
Wasn't obvious to me at first because the window was pretty small, but it was a nice surprise when I found out that you're actually airborne during the backhop of the Recall Kinsect skillbind attack. You can go straight to the helicopter or air dash during the backhop. It's nice because if I'm too close to the monster, it can act as sort of short hop.
Exactly what I was thinking. Rise is going really hard into these wirebug gimmicks, but the weapons themselves are not getting many new features. I really wanted a Demon dance spirit combo type move for the IG. Something you could pull off with the insect glaive meter or something.
They had been holding off showing the mounting mechanics, and I had hoped IG would have gotten some buff to mounting but it seems like it's got jack shit. Really, It should have some boon to wyvern riding if it wasn't going to get new attacks. That way it could have been for builds around using the new mechanic.
I imagine the insect glaive being able to jump in the air at any time will make it the best weapon for mounting monsters, even with other weapons all having silkbind attacks to do the same. Not what I personally would've wanted from the weapon (I loved valor glaive in genU where I could command the kinsect to attack while I did), but that seems to be it's niche here
Im glad I watch your vid gaijin hunter, I almost giving up playing IG on MHR in my first try. In GU, this is my fav weapon. When Rise out, I will learn to master this. The combo you showed me giving me hope that IG could become troublesome and fun. Love your vids dude
You can actually change the shoulder button controls in the settings menu to be more like GU. It has made playing the glaive in the demo feel way more familiar and less awkward for me
Fair warning, dusting is gone, marking the target now makes it when you send your kinsect it will specifically target that location. While this was helpful in the old games where kinsect aiming was... clunky, in this game the marking feels like it is detrimental to the weapon overall. You can make getting essences much harder should you mark them. I also didn’t feel like the white essence added much speed at all, so I am unsure if the white essence speed buff is gone. We do have free earplugs though, so that’s a trade off.
Using a power kinsect in world gave you a nice bit of extra DPS, alongside the dust effects. I don't understand all these nerfs to IG, I might end up skipping maining it again altogether in Rise.
Did they remove the downward thrust move that was added to Iceborne? EDIT: They had it in a Instagram post on October 26, 2020. It looks like they do an aerial attack and then follow it up with a wire bug descend. I’m unsure if they removed it or if it’s just finicky to input.
@@samuelwebb2404 Yeah so the gunlance actually has a move missing as well. The new jet pack move they showcased lol. I'm sure they took it out because maybe they added it after the demo or it just was too janky.
Super disappointed with the wirebug moves for IG. Other weapons got actual attacking moves like "Hunting Edge" "Invincible Gambit" or "Impact Crater". The IG got "Recall Kinsect" and another MOVEMENT move for the weapon that already has the highest mobility. :(
It's almost certain that there's more wirebug moves tuan the two for each srt we've seen here, so hopefully IG does still get some exciting stuff. Weird that they'd choose these two to demo though since they are pretty underwhelming.
I think people seriously underestimate that jump-back. Getting a free evade + a heal is massive, especially since you don't have to spend a potion or waste time finding a green extract for it. I think this will make the glaive an incredibly noob-friendly weapon. No matter how much you're struggling with a monster, even if you run down your potions, you have an emergency 0-effort heal option and the wirebugs honestly don't take THAT long to charge
And on the flipside, the forward jump might seem lackluster but 1) every weapon got a forward jump type move for silkbind attacks and 2) it actually seems to come out much faster than the standard jump so it has its uses. At this point I would almost think of that forward silkbind jump as the MAIN way to jump and the standard jump as a backup if you just used the heal-evade
An extra tidbit: you can attach yourself to walls using the insect glaive. I'm not sure if it did this in world but if you press B for your normal air vault against a wall you can latch onto it indefinitely
Not really an Insect Glaive thing but one thing a friend found out is that the attacks you can while riding a monster are dependant on directional inputs, so you'll probably be able to do attacks from most of their moveset
it wouldve been nice to at least get a flashy move even if its not as practical as recall kinsect. maybe a 2 wire bug cost team attack with your kinsect that creates and sets off a ton of the clouds he creates.
A move where you do a drilling attack forward that does multiple hits and gets a random extract that you don't already have. Because on some monsters getting the triple buff is very annoying. The healing one is alright but I hope they gave it something better
You can change your control types from ZR to R in the demo which helped a lot you go to the menu while in a hunt go to options then to controls and change the first option to type 2 and boom your special attack for you weapon or guard button is R instead of ZR
Thank you for the video ! I still have mixed fellings about the IG in Rise, but what I saw here partially relieved me. Still, when you say that you are happy that the IG is the same as the one we had in MHW, all I can hear is "well at least they didn't remove the weapon" haha. The evade seems actually pretty good, and it heals you for actually quite a bit so I'm glad. But your video also confirms my fears concerning the special vault. It looks absolutly useless : seems clunky as hell (poor accuracy on attacks) + it doesn't cover much more distance than the normal vault + doesn't give access on any special "new" aerial move. Also, it doesn't look like they buffed aerial damage : you did massively more damage on the ground than you did up in the air. So the ONLY use of the new vault would be to close the distance between you and the monster BUT since it doesn't go that far, you will still use the normal vault to keep the wirebug for evades and heals. Even if the monster runs away, since you have the new buddy-mount ability, you'll never use the new vault to chase it down. I really fail to see the idea behind that "new" move.
The wirebug vault is for repositioning and anti-air, It allows you to suspend yourself in the air for a while, It makes the IG even more useful for getting out and getting in. Also apparently they did buff aerial attacks, although I don't see it
@@ortah2616 I understand your point but still, everything you said already applies to the normal vault, getting in and out included. Moreover, having s on the new evade makes the evading capacity of the new vault kind of useless : it lacks utility defensively (and will even cost you one use of really useful -healing the new evade provides). Offensively it doesn't bring anything on the table that the normal vault does not already provide (you will probably never be in a situation where you need to cross the entire arena up in the air just to get to the monster, at the cost of your stamina). I think only some tweaks could make it good : increase the distance it can travel, to make it really useful in closing said distance and/or make it so it gives a boost that reduces stamina cost while in the air etc... Or just give us a buff to damage to aerial attacks for a while after using it. At the moment, it provides (in my opinion) no real NEW utility, and does not improve our toolkit whatsoever. But wait and see !
I wish IG's aerial damage did more than its grounded damage. That way it would be rewarding to juggle yourself in the air, staying airborne as much as possible. Meanwhile the dooters and slammers get their niche, keeping the monster in place with head bonks. The fast slicers apply status effects, and the heavy cutters throw in the damage. The tanks take and dish out the punishment, and the ranged weapons do their thing. I just feel like the IG doesn't stand out compared to say the DB or SnS when it has to stay grounded anyway. That's why I left IG for SnS, Lance and HH. But I'll be happy to change my mind.
Ig is usually my main, I won’t say I’m the best at it honestly I just love monster hunter but I’m not that great with the weapons LOL. But playing the demo the aiming for the insect glaive is a lot more difficult than world and possibly generations. IDK I haven’t played gen for a while, but it just doesn’t seem as smooth to me. Hopefully by playing with it more once the game actually comes out I’ll get used to the controls 😅
As a IG main who thinks himself to be kinda proficient with the weapon I do agree that Rise is stiffer than World but is definitely faster and more fluid than in Generations. U can change the controls to a degree in order to make it easier in the demo once u are inside the hunt; however the bug mechanic in my opinion really hinders the IG playstyle in a way so to speak. For example, certain moves are behind the wire bug specials and that is something I don't appreciate because if you vault normally like u would in World, u cannot use the spinning attack at 3 extracts under normal conditions. Said attack can only be used when u use the wirebug vault and for a short time afterwards however just as Gaijin said, normal vault+wirebug vault can give u too much aerial mobility and instead of making a straight line from where u are to the ground when using the spinning attack, more often than not u will be sent spinning diagonally and miss the monster if it's small or move too much. Also what really brakes IG for me this time around is that for some weapons the upgrades Iceborne brought are still in Rise but for other like IG they are gone. For example HH has the Iceborne spinning attack but IG lost the ability to feed ur bug so u can gather 2 extracts and the "FFXIV" dragoon strong attack is gone as well which is a really powerful Nerf in my opinion to IG because in World that attack did more damage when u used it instead of the spinning move plus when u landed on the ground u also marked the enemy which sent the bug flying and explosion bugs really liked that attack for really high damage uptime which is now gone on Rise. Sure the demo says that some things are still not added and the devs said on the stream that the demo is not the final product, that they are still doing a lots of improvements but at least for me, this time around where all weapons can go aerial, losing part the improvements that Iceborne and World added to IG, is a painful experience for me. Gotta wait for the full game to give my veredict in hopes the mechanics and attacks are added back but if not I think I'll go HH or SA for this game since they are fun and with the bugs, can go airborne pretty easily. Also keep in mind that many of the options that aren't available at the moment in the demo will be available on the full game so if u feel it clunky, on the full game sensitivity can be changed and I think that could make some huge improvements to the overall playing experience of certain weapons. I am really enjoying the demo and is glorious to mount monster like crazy which seems to be the new niche IG got for itself so hope my opinion helps in a way and remember that while the game has only 30 hunts, u can clear ur save data and the hunt counter resets just like Gaijing posted on the community posts of his channel. So Happy hunt and keep bullying Mizu and the new monster 😁
IG main here too and feel like it's the worst it ever been. A weapon with heavy usage of mobility and aerial combos gets shoehorn by wirebug. I couldn't even see the kinsect😭 and dart the monster from a distance. It made me feel clueless to the point I couldn't connect my aerial attack to a finisher.
@@jackysakura3098 I know right! I hate every time I go pass beyond Mizutsune when trying to do the spinning attack because the wirebug sent me flying waaaaaay beyond the monster and the fun part is that sometimes you position yourself perfectly for getting attacked! It comically hurts! 😂😭😭😂
It feels like the movement buff that white extract used to give is either gone or nerfed. Paired with losing dusts and auto-attack on the kinsects I feel like while the added mobility is nice- we ended up being nerfed overall... again.
I wanted you to pull off a quick vault to instant descending thrust then maybe just maybe this class is worth it but may require 2 bugs . At least that'll be a good step forward instead of three steps back .
Despite it being my main back in gen u, I couldn’t get enough of a handle on the updated world-style IG to beat the mizutsune. I’m used to arial style letting me launch myself 30ft out of harm’s way. Also definitely missing the old world mount system, but I’m sure the proper game will have a learning curve nice enough to get a better handle on it.
You can cover an insane amount of distance with the wire bug vault and aerial dodges. It just takes some getting used to the new moves but you have a ton of maneuverability.
With you IG is unsheathed, jump to the air and face any wall press B (air dash) you will stick to that wall. Press B again you jump and then another B you stick again. You can spam this move to "climb" up infinitely.
I am still miffed about the Silkbinds we got on this thing compared to the rest of the arsenal, but you have helped me to look at them in a bit of a better light.
The new backdash means the monsters don't have green buff regularly anymore, right? Thank goodness. Easier to get white buff. Also you didn't really go into how the new marking system works. Took me a while to figure out that your mark never goes away even when the kinsect returns. Only when you sheathe. You just shoot the kinsect out and it tracks the mark, and returns when it's low on stamina (or you do the backdash wirebug move, which refills its stamina, letting you send it right back out again)
I didn't know the green extract thing, like, I thought it was only those three extracts at the weapon bar. I already liked the glaive, but knowing that, it's actually even better (still, I thought the insect in the demo was kinda slow, but knowing it won't be like that always is good to know). This weapon with status effects like paralysis or the blast damage must be really good. But I wonder, do the kinsects have ways to build status effects?
Yea I'm gonna need try this for myself if the loss of R2 moves is a thing that makes the ki sect attack the monster is gone this weapon might of lost really cool moves that where added in world which hurts cos that gave more reason to care bout the kinsect and its stanimae and made it more than an extract tool but a part of combos that had the add benfite of up keeping the extracts soo yea though the back vault does look helpful for ground play though the other one doesn't impress me too much sure staying in the air is nice but I've often liked fast switching between areal and grounded on glave so onhestly I'm still uncertain about what I'm seeing the weapon hey time will tell! Love the content any how keep it up XD
Sorry I'm dyslexic which doesn't help when I write, I often forget and even struggle to write in a proper manner + my spelling of words is often over the place sorry bout that.
I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but you actually gain earplugs with this IG in the demo with all the kinsect extracts (at least I'm fairly certain, can't check now). I noticed not being flinched during a couple of Mizutsune's roars. Seeing that the armor skills are blocked for the demo we can't tell if this is from an armor skill, but if earplugs are built into the extracts we have some serious quality of life as IG users in Rise. Furthermore, did you notice how your arms become covered in electricity when you have all of the extracts? I'm thinking that different armor sets will provide different aesthetics and may actually provide you with different buffs with all extracts (e.g. Earplugs from Khezu gear).
I'm suprised you didn't mention the fact that all IG aerial attacks are considered "blue" attacks, with other weapons you need to use the silkbind moves to get those, with IG you don't ^^ also, (unrelated to IG) I could for the life of God not find any way to get "blue" damage with a bow! Love the vid and live IG will main that and heavy bowgun ^^
I’m going to seriously miss the pogo stick move from icebourne and I think the wirearts are incredibly underwhelming considering how gamechanging other wirearts are for other weapons like the Greatsword, switchaxe, and Gunlance.
If you mean the downward thrust then it does exist in Rise! It's a wirebug skill that was shown in one of their gameplay trailers, but it wasn't given to us in the demo. I think they're treating them like arts only having two at a time.
Do you feel like the change to the mounting system has hurt or helped IG? I'm guessing there will be armor sets that cause aerial attacks to do more "ride stun" damage.
As an IG main I hope Capcom gets us at least a single flashy move kinda like Hunter Arts in GU, even if is just 1 single wirebug move that would be awesome. Since all other weapons seem like they had their fair bit of new but almost all IG moves feel so old.
Kinsects don't seem to have any sort of colours telling us the colour of nectar we get when we hit the monster. That seems pretty awful in my opinion, I'm really dependent on seeing the actual colour of the parts I hit and the colour of my kinsect as a glaive user and not have to basically stare at my hud in the corner.
@@ortah2616 I don't have anything, but there was definitely a nice utility and feeling to being able to consistently make vaulting up into the air something worthwhile and not just a net loss in damage.
Can you still enhance your kinsect in this game? Ik slinger ammo is gone so idk if it's still here. I liked the micro managment I had to do so it's a bit of a shame if it is gone
You definitely will be able to (in the full game), it's an integral part of the weapon. There's no way they're gonna just make us suffer with a 50 speed kinsect for the whole game
@@catgoaaaaaaaaaaa6152 well sure I get that we'll be able to change out and upgrade our kinsect. What I mean is like in world we can use slinger ammo to feed them so they can grab two buffs at once and can get like a stamina and attack buff themselves. Idk how it will work in this game if slinger ammo is gone.
One thing I absolutely hate about this game, if anything, is that the Khezu is back again. I know every game needs their own "ugly bastards" or "nightmare fuel" monsters, but Khezu seems done to death at this point. I'd like to see Gigginox again, I liked it in MH3 and MH3U, I liked the subspecies, it actually had a theme to go with it. Khezu is just ugly, it's annoying as hell, it's quiet until it's right on top of you, it's been in like the past 3 games except for World.
For sending out the kinsect it was ZR + X in MH4U and MHGen, but they changed it to ZL + X in World. Now they've switched it back. =.= Make up your mind capcom.
only fun for traversal kinsect not auto attack marked monster so no dust effect and no double extract. no charging the kinsect for strong attack. kinsect once again only used for chores with no versatility, so kinsect recall is next to useless. no plunge (some silkbind moves not available in demo) and the vault silkbind went so high, the only viable target here is midflight rathian. not to mention it's just a simple, pitiful slash. only good for travel not my main but damn ig just suck at anything but traversal here
@@emblemblade9245 it's the only possibility that I'm hoping for but if kinsect viability is locked behind upgrades, early kinsect will be nothing more than just a gimmicky chores instead of a point of interest.
TBH - my main issue with the IG is still there. Gathering Kinsect Essence still feels awful and the one major "fix" from Iceborne - the slinger ammo boost - is now gone. I seriously can spend far more time gathering the bloody stuff then actually fighting the monster. That was the one thing I hoped to be fixed and it looks like it is not. Otherwise, this weapon feels just how I like it.
I just want all Kinsects to be fast by default. It's a really weird decision they kept speed as a property since nobody really use the slow ones. And Kinsects don't really feel like an equipment but more of a gimmick. Was hoping they revamped them like Hunting Horn.
@@manbat4582 Same here. Playing HH, it feels like a much smoother experience overall and makes me wish IG got the same treatment, mainly with the Kinsect. Its the only aspect that has completely pushed me away from even wanting to try and play the weapon. Like you said, I find it very strange they kept the speed aspect of the kinsect. Every game, the Kinsect always just gets boiled down to which is the fastest and dust effects. Nothing else has ever really mattered. Feels like such a weak spot of an otherwise awesome weapon.
If you can bugvault after aerial strike, that's 8 jumps. And depending on your hangtime, that might be indefinite unless it doesn't reset the overall cap on aerial moves
I think I haven't seen that in your videos, but while riding the Palamute and your sprinting, you can go into a kind of "drifting" mode with the L button to charge some speed and go super fast. Just a heads-up for those that didn't know that.
It will be in the game in the form of a different Silkbind Attack that you can choose from. This isn't the only 2 Silkbind attacks for this weapon. Same goes for every other weapons.
@@Jaquan018 I honestly found green extract to be more of an obstacle, sometimes I just slightly missed the red/orange and got a green. It was a heal, but y'know.
The insect glaive feels gutted now, the x attack in the air while powered up still does the spin but it doesn't have the little momentum shift it used to have in world. It feels like it hits a lot less on average because of this. Also in world you could shoot the bug pheromone onto a monster and your kinsect would fly over and auto attack while also releasing powder but now it doesn't auto attack, it only serves as a tracking shot for the next time you manually send it out with ZR + X.
It was either on the loading screen tips or in the hunter notes but there was something in- game that mentioned that you can have your bug spread dust so that mechanic is still in the game, but it sounds like not all bugs will do it. I'm guessing it's an upgrade path.
When the weapon is so bad that its impressions video even has audio bugs No downward thrust, no auto attack mode, the falling cartwheel move is tied to the wirebug attack (unless you do the helicopter but that's still dumb that it's locked behind those two). What the fuck did they do to this weapon Fuck cool wirebug attacks just give it the Iceborne moveset again, it's better than whatever the hell they were going for with this shit. Literally all they needed to do was just make the attacks a little bit stronger, buff the MV's a little bit. That's it. It already had a fluid moveset, why would they take AWAY from it? Literally the ONLY buff that I can see is that you get Earplugs again with all 3 extracts, but that shouldn't have been taken away from it in the first place, so it's not really a buff
Thank you for this. I was one of those who was disappointed with the Insect Glaive trailer. I was fine with the vault as it reminded me of Aerial Insect Glaive, (My secondary way of using the weapon on GU) but was greatly disappointed with the recall insect. It didn't help that I didn't see the MHW tagging feature where you can tag a monster and the Kinsect detach from you and auto hit that target. However after seeing how much it heals, I'm happy to say my disappointment was too premature. I'm still not sure Insect Glaive will remain my main weapon, but it's back on the list of options.
In all seriousness, IG was hugely lacking in the "get out of monster super move free" department if you couldn't jump over it back in World, so I think the chonky s are actually really good on this weapon. As long as the raw DPS on this is good, I don't need it to be new, I just need it to be the same but better... And honestly? I don't think it's just me, the endlag on these moves is super low. Everything looks so fluid now and it's great.
The silk vault also lets you jump away from a monster super move, and get back almost as fast. Lets you just stick to the monster even whilst it's attacking. Tons of fun. I suspect there'll be a lot of attacks or situations where you'll want to stay airborne in Rise, and whilst most weapons will need to sheathe in order to get access to the wirebug dashes, IG will be able to keep up the fight.
So they did get rid of the dust? They f*cking ruined the glaive. The kinsect doesn't even do SHIT, even if you set a marker on the monster, it just stays in the air and does stupidly nothing. It's only purpose is now to buff the player.
I’m pretty sure they’re making dust a certain effect for specific types of kinsect. And besides, the kinsect is pretty amazing dps even without dust(bug only raging brachy runs and such can serve as proof.) Plus, in the main game we’re getting the plunge back which may mean we get the drill attack that happens at the same time, and the kinsect can add another 200+dmg per plunge. The purpose of the kinsect was always to add a smidge of dps and buff your hunter, the dust was quite literally a little sprinkle on top.
@@miles8980 the ability to auto attack with dust was amazingly useful when you no longer needed the kinsect but now you get either shit dps or bearly useful dust. Both together is what made it useful but now its nothing
This is still the Insect Glaive I know and love. I didn't use the downward thrust in Iceborne a lot, so it being a Wirebug move (eventually) is fine with me. Did accidentally use my Wirebug attack when I was just trying to get extracts more than once though. Looking at the Hunters Notes, it seems that only some Kinsects will Dust, but they did specifically mention it, so while the demo bug doesn't have it, I have hope for the full game.
Gaijin Hunter, I just started to play the demo. Being a glaive main myself, I tried it out first. I couldnt tell for sure, but have they removed the regular mounting for new wirebug system?
IG feels really weak now lol. Why play a weapon that's all about getting quick mounts when literally everyone will be mounting now? You'd have to be dumb to not mount. REally disappointed tbh, since IG was the only weapon I've ever used. Also, the gfx just aren't my cup of tea. Everything looks blurry and the monsters aren't even visually appealing. Definitely not buying this one. Maybe it'll sell well in Japan, but I'd rather they make another PC entry with realistic looking GFX.
Monster Hunter introduced me to the series but I was too young to enjoy it, Monster Hunter World reintroduced me to the series as I played a more traditional weapon class... now this game is my chance to try out something less traditional that makes use of the more flexible nature of the game... so Insect Glaive I go!
Reuploaded to fix audio issues. The audio is still a tad funky around the 2-3 min mark but it smooths out so sorry if it feels weird for a second there.

It's just a flashier alternate way to do what a weaponless hunter can already do
isnt the stab always there since world too? except in world u can only do it on the climbable vine anyway, but in rise you can literally do it in any wall i guess? in a way thats not a bad addition tbh, i would still main glaive, but i wont start as glaive since slow as fuck bug at the start.

I used switch axe in gu until I could buff the bugs speed to a decent level. It was just painful to start with.
Lol yes! I was playing GU in waiting for Rise and the demo. The beginner bugs are so slow that I said screw it and stuck with dual blades until I had enough materials to get a fast enough bug to switch back to IG 😛

This would make me love IG again, spinning your kinsect for quick collects or possible part breaks/severs (costing 2 wirebugs). I hope they make this an option in the full game.

Everyday we stray further from Monster Hunter and get an inch closer to Monst Abuser

I think we're already there! Next game is Monster Hunter Circus and there will be tons of cruelty for the amusement of humans.
Thats it...no hard feelings too^^
Hammer and Greatsword were already stealing those glaive mounts with ledges in World, now er'body's gonna be mounting left and right lol
nah dawg charge blade is not good at mount attack as it was back in world or ib

I believe you can switch the controls
They will be interchangeable because they showcased more wirebug moves that aren't in the demo.
Most likely cuz remember on the 1st trailer, the hunter use a silkbind attack that looks like the downward stab attack from iceborne
and you were correct!
@@Filigree50x thank you 😊
Wasn't obvious to me at first because the window was pretty small, but it was a nice surprise when I found out that you're actually airborne during the backhop of the Recall Kinsect skillbind attack. You can go straight to the helicopter or air dash during the backhop. It's nice because if I'm too close to the monster, it can act as sort of short hop.
Still, it looks like IG didn't get much if anything at all.
Certainly not enough new to convince long time players to stick with it in the new game.
Dear god you people are pathetic
I imagine the insect glaive being able to jump in the air at any time will make it the best weapon for mounting monsters, even with other weapons all having silkbind attacks to do the same. Not what I personally would've wanted from the weapon (I loved valor glaive in genU where I could command the kinsect to attack while I did), but that seems to be it's niche here
Does it feel like hitboxes are way bigger in this game? I feel like im getting knocked out of the air way more than in previous games
Im glad I watch your vid gaijin hunter, I almost giving up playing IG on MHR in my first try. In GU, this is my fav weapon. When Rise out, I will learn to master this. The combo you showed me giving me hope that IG could become troublesome and fun. Love your vids dude

The silk arts are... disappointing for this

That's unfortunate. The dust was a really cool part of World's insect glaive
Using a power kinsect in world gave you a nice bit of extra DPS, alongside the dust effects. I don't understand all these nerfs to IG, I might end up skipping maining it again altogether in Rise.
The weapon info in game mentions dust tho? I think only some Kinsects will have it, I don't remember the exact wording right now
Maybe there will be different kinsects with different attributes like in GU.
Dusting is not gone, it's just not in the demo.
So the Kinsect no longer fights with us and is relegated to getting extracts only, that for me is more disappointing that no new flashy moves.
it didnt use to fight before, that's a mhw thing
but yeah it does seem like a step back
@@curupa66 so before?
Had a dispute with a wirebug so its not doing it for the hunter this time lol
You can still shoot the pebble and have the kingsect go at it
it gets jealous because the hunter is playing with another bug
Did they remove the downward thrust move that was added to Iceborne?
EDIT: They had it in a Instagram post on October 26, 2020. It looks like they do an aerial attack and then follow it up with a wire bug descend. I’m unsure if they removed it or if it’s just finicky to input.
It another silkbind move. They locked it away in the full version.
@@titanmo01 So it will be in the full version is what you're saying?
@@lumara4654 Yes
@@lumara4654 Pretty sure that's the situation, yeah. I sure miss that move.
@@robonoaware It is understandable, if your last silkbind move being one of the two revealed move, this will be an even larger embarassment
the mini-map zoom existed in world already btw c:
At this point I would almost think of that forward silkbind jump as the MAIN way to jump and the standard jump as a backup if you just used the heal-evade
seeing that armor on insect glaive gives me nightmares knowing where it came from... i never wanted to see IT again.
There's such little changes with ig that you basically just showcased mounting...
Rise is just an insect glaive nerf
It’s not like most of the weapons honestly got many changes.
I've been playing mainly dual blades in MHGU, but I think I wanna try IG in Rise. The mobility is so insane.
it wouldve been nice to at least get a flashy move even if its not as practical as recall kinsect. maybe a 2 wire bug cost team attack with your kinsect that creates and sets off a ton of the clouds he creates.
Or just a move to make it fly around and rapidly hit and set a bunch of dust clouds to be detonated later. Something sorta like the sword tornado
What's up Gaijin hunter! Here's a random comment for the algorithm
Paired with losing dusts and auto-attack on the kinsects I feel like while the added mobility is nice- we ended up being nerfed overall... again.
dusts and auto attack are in the game according to what demo said. Movement buff is probably nerfed. But areial damage seems buffed
I would love this weapon... if it weren't for the essence gathering mini-game busy work.
The weapons with added mechanics are the most fun to use. If you think IG has a mini game then CB has a while AAA game attached to it.
I was a IG main in World/Iceborne. I'm not impressed with the IG for Rise
that mount is the closest thing we can get to feel what its like to be the monster.
3:54 Monster: *exists*
Every Hunter: Hoh? You're approaching me?
No, Hunter, you are the turf wars.
And then the Hunter was a Bazelgeuse.
Classic fic
You can change the kinsect controls from zr to r by changing control to type 2 in the options
Omg I wanted to read your comment but without any punctuation I felt like I was about to have a seizure haha
@@joshmay2944 same. I was confused why his sentence is all over the place.
So far the move I wasn't able to perform was the divebomb

@@redgeko181 no probs, bro. Just had a tiny trouble understanding you but I got what you said.
To those who want an offensive wire bug move aparently there are more moves we cant use currently so hopefully theres one for ig as well
I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but you actually gain earplugs with this IG in the demo with all the kinsect extracts (at least I'm fairly certain, can't check now).
Unfortunately, there's no longer an easily accessible descending thrust, which really neuters aerial attacks further.
What makes you think the wirebug version of descending thrust isn't stronger to make up for it being on cooldown?
@@ortah2616 I don't have anything, but there was definitely a nice utility and feeling to being able to consistently make vaulting up into the air something worthwhile and not just a net loss in damage.
Dont forget that you can use the Gyroscope to move the insect aim too! (Also works for the Gunners)
Mizutsune's theme has vocals now? This really is going to be the best MH game.
The old one is better
I like how mounts feel special since it'll only happen once maybe twice per monster/hunt
I forgot how nice Namielle's InsectGlaive looked, as one elder dragon I'd like returning for MH:Rise
=.= Make up your mind capcom.
only fun for traversal
kinsect not auto attack marked monster so no dust effect and no double extract. no charging the kinsect for strong attack. kinsect once again only used for chores with no versatility, so kinsect recall is next to useless.
no plunge (some silkbind moves not available in demo) and the vault silkbind went so high, the only viable target here is midflight rathian. not to mention it's just a simple, pitiful slash. only good for travel
not my main but damn ig just suck at anything but traversal here
Marking and dusting is still in, the weapon notes said only certain kinsects do it
@@emblemblade9245 it's the only possibility that I'm hoping for but if kinsect viability is locked behind upgrades, early kinsect will be nothing more than just a gimmicky chores instead of a point of interest.
Damn! 5 dashes mid air! Alright, that move literally just lets you fly. I’m into it
If you can bugvault after aerial strike, that's 8 jumps. And depending on your hangtime, that might be indefinite unless it doesn't reset the overall cap on aerial moves
Thats 7 dash with a third wirebug. And you can stab wall to reload the wirebug freely.
Thats great can helicopter in the air and do 0 damage.
If you can stick to a wall you can fly infinitely with a 3rd wirebug
I think I haven't seen that in your videos, but while riding the Palamute and your sprinting, you can go into a kind of "drifting" mode with the L button to charge some speed and go super fast. Just a heads-up for those that didn't know that.
Really bugs me how the dive bomb with the glaive is gone.
Hehe bugs.
It will be in the game in the form of a different Silkbind Attack that you can choose from. This isn't the only 2 Silkbind attacks for this weapon. Same goes for every other weapons.
There might be an armor set or skill that increases healing so that evasive maneuver can have a higher potential.
I suspect recovery up / medicine is probably going to return, I think it was a 30% increase in world
It's still a shame that for that move they took away the option of gathering Green Extract naturally.
When the weapon is so bad that its impressions video even has audio bugs
No downward thrust, no auto attack mode, the falling cartwheel move is tied to the wirebug attack (unless you do the helicopter but that's still dumb that it's locked behind those two). What the fuck did they do to this weapon
Fuck cool wirebug attacks just give it the Iceborne moveset again, it's better than whatever the hell they were going for with this shit.
Poor thing cant catch a break since 4 but at least world helped it grow but nope! Throw away everything cool to promote the wirebug gimmick
Good to see some positivity on it. Hope the weapon works for you!
IKR! I was trying to get extracts and was just flinging myself
