I lived in Deal in 1953 to 1960 when I enlisted in the RAF aged 16. I returned many times to visit my family until 1974 when they emigrated to Australia. Looking back, I realise that Deal is one hell of a special place.

Thank you so much for doing this. My great, great grandfather was William Bailey Budd (1822 - 1895). His daughter Eliza Jane Budd was my great grandmother. She was married to George William Beecham (1865-1899). The Beechams were also fishermen. George died in a tragic incident where he was on a boat trying to rescue a trawler in the downs. In 1871, my great grandmother lived at 14 Coppin Street.

I think my Grandmother was married to a Budd in Deal?
