Thanks to everyone that has Emailed me, and everyone that has left comments, its well appreciated and give me the inspiration to make more short films, keeping the past history of Deal alive for future generations, and great memories for us that lived in those times 👍
once again....your wee film...takes me back to a magical time in my life,,my lovely grandparents Winnie and Dick Grant...originally from Alfred Square..then later staying at Mill Road..up by the old Lord Warden pub..!!..and my father..Bill Grant also known as Dick..!!...ooooh where has the time gone...❤.....I met most of these legends...as a wee lad...and always introduced as...yip...Young Dick....!!! Keep up the good work....sadly a time long gone never to return...but never from my memory..
Thanks for this latest memory Dave - I remember Deal Marine Craft well, having moved into nearby Golden Street in 1954. I often passed by to the sound of saws and hammers and the scent of varnish. I saw a finished boat going up Brewer or Ferrier Street, Brewer probably from what you say here. You’re right, they were good days sun or rain, calm or storm which changed and finally disappeared almost before we knew it had happened…
