A time to get on your knees and fight a spiritual war against: ancestral worship, occultic practices, idolatory (this for many includes sports) and general moral decay in South African society.

Dont underestimate Agricultures ability to transform the econonomy. When farmers are doing well it uplifts everything. Cheeper food, employment etc. The farmers in this country has been neglected for far too long. Maybe Steenhuizen is the ticket to bring back prosperity to Agriculture.

Having a single party hold both presidency and deputy presidency is not a GNU.
Yeah it was really wrong. A third of power in the GNU agreement for the DA should have dictated a third of governance over-all including the presidium.
Problem was that they didn't know what portfolios the ANC kept for itself. They must have assumed the ANC gave more portfolios to other parties. If the DA accepted 6 positions knowing the ANC took 21, they are idiots.

@@beharga7901 hardly. The ANC agreed to proportionate representation in the cabinet and they refused to deliver on that. Proportionate representation, because that is the basis of our democracy. Our constitution wasn't really developed with coalitions in mind, either.
The DA isn't trying to "uproot" the constitution by fighting for that which the ANC promised them, if they voted for Ramaphosa during the assembly.

We need to step out of the darkness of despair and into the light of faith; there is a food shortage in SA and Anc bankrupt all government farms; all farms if any left that the cadres did not take for themselves; can be fixed and we can stop imports and produce our own goods; like it was prior to 1994; no room for all these old age people in the Anc; someone else need to take over ministry of defense force
Localised regenerative farming is the best solution to improve food production, quality of food, and cheaper food. Every ministry that got non-ANC representation has an ANC deputy. There are a couple of key ministries that have only ANC people and as the deputy President remains the same, any existing corruption is likely to be business as usual. I just worry that the ANC will now attempt to use non-ANC members as fall-guys for ANC corruption.
When John was my elected politician in Durban North, John came up with good solutions for security in that area and was very helpful in getting my guest house up and running. He was very interested in my ideas to use hydroponic systems to upgrade poor communities. A high tech innovation to upgrade the poor which also was water wise and played to the health lobby. The ideals were scuppered by the the old freedom front trying to protect their traditional strong area. Justice. At that stage the ACDP with help from Germany promoted the ideas and so it's actually a win for them too in spite of them not even getting a mention anymore. Christianity has taken a step back because neither DA nor ANC with a Aunty Pat and Helen adding to the antisemitic agenda, actually tried to destroy them. God is in control and we can expect the unexpected going forward.

Since eishkom decided to work & we've got a new eishkom ceo who claims to have fixed it, we no longer need an electricity minister. I think we can turn that 1 into a minister of pit toilets & asbestos for atleast 5yrs; get some positive changes in there

But the problem with that is that I do not trust private organisations enough to hand them all the power to manage all the energy in South Africa. And while I do believe in free market capitalism, and businesses should be allowed to flourish, there atleast need to be some oversight, maybe have a few regulators, because private corporations are incentivised to maximise the amount of profits they get at the smallest price as possible, and that can lead to alot of abuse

This is an important moment which no-one should underestimate. Not because of what this GNU will deliver, but because it marks an important turning point in SA history. It is the end of ANC hegemony, but which could easily have gone another way and seen an ANC/EFF or ANC/MK coalition which would have led SA down a very much darker path. Fortunately we have royally lucked out. Assuming the DA can pull it off, this is their chance to show to skeptics that they can be trusted in government, and open the floodgates for less partisan or extremist voting patterns going forwards. The door to positive change has been prised open.
Agreed. Although I think a stronger showing from the DA and other similar small parties in future elections will be great, I hope none of them will ever get an overall majority on their own ever again. We need them under 50% to keep each other honest.

Perhaps the very best news in this election was simply that the results were respected, by everyone. I have long said this: you do not know whether you live in a democracy until the ruling party has lost an election. Well, whatever else you can throw against the ANC, they did respect the election results, and parties that did contest the results did so via the prescribed channels, instead of burning down half the country. This sets a very hopeful precedent for the future.
I don't expect the new government to do much of anything; the previous administration(s) pretty much destroyed the state apparatus which governments use to do things, and so, even if Steenhuisen became president and the DA got most of the ministries, there would be limits to what they could do. One thing that a government CAN do is to perhaps at least repeal some of the idiotic legislation that stands in the way of growth. Dare we hope?
In a general way, the thing that excites me most is precisely how un-excited the country is about the whole thing. Perhaps South Africans have finally become cynical enough about government that they no longer hope to find their messiah in a politician. It's as if everyone is beginning to realize that in Africa, you have to help yourself, because government is never going to do it, and descending into perpetual victimhood is no way to plan for the future.
The unions being left out is probably the best thing for economic recovery,and the ANC relies on their vote to remain relevant, so there should be interesting times ahead for the GNU.
Could this be the start of SA using all it's quality to the benifit of all the people.? I hope so.
