I'm 59 and playing since I was 6. But I want to be Matteo when I grow up.
Sometimes, after 30 years of playing music, I start to think I'm pretty talented. Then I see a video like this.
@@HazHarpo T_T I feel you bro. 56 and still waiting for talent to find me.
@@IlBiggo don't stop playing though. Bring your little stone to the huge cathedral of music and joy, and you will make it better!
@@reconquistaahead1602 I just hope my little stones won't be thrown back at me XD
@@IlBiggo hahaha... no. I dont think so. Just enjoy playing. If you didn't try, you would always wonder if you were any good. Like me. 😭😭😭
807 envious people thumbs down. It must be painful to hear such fantastic musicians and not be able to enjoy them.
Jealousy votes.
Matteo has one of the most… effortless playing styles I’ve witnessed. Amazing.
He's got that Robert Fripp demeanor.
He doesn't even grimace when he hits the high notes 🙂
I think now is as good a time as any to give up the guitar. I put in 56 years and have had to endure Hendrix, McLaughlin, Di Meola, Holdsworth, Buckethead, Shawn, and a list of names too long to mention. Now ITALY is taking over. Thank God for wine and my recliner....and a good headset!! Thanks Matteo & Co!!
Bassists, always the happiest group member.
Bill Wyman? 😄😉
they always end up with the band / name after everyone else leaves lol
@@kionihernandez356 Holy shit hahaha
For me, it's the bass' place in the intersection of melody and rhythm that gives a uniquely enjoyable musical experience.
Slap that Bass!!!
I love how guitar and bass and drums are equally excellent in the song, like everyone is virtuoso of its instrument
What can I say? Three soon to be famous musicians. Amazingly tight. Think Mahavishnu Orchestra in 1971 or so. Like another reviewer said, this made my day.
the bass player is like almost Joe Dart level
@@aiacusenaduschasames lol Joe Dart level
Robert Cowart unfortunately nowadays real musicians don’t get famous
@@aiacusenaduschasames It always was a thing of luck, at least nowadays everyone has the chance to show their musical talent farther han just within their local area. Tbf, it's never been easier to get an audience...
Of course Matteo was a young genius even then but don‘t forget the bassist! Epic Jaco tune rendered flawlessly, fluently, and with wonderful personal additions. BRAVO
All three are brilliant. So cohesive, so tight, moving like a smoothly oiled freight train that takes off into the sky loving the new territory.
Amazing. You can tell he started out with classical guitar. He digs into the strings with his right hand and then adjusts the angle of attack to vary the tone. When he straightens his hand and plays what some people think is bass playing technique, what he is doing is a flamenco technique called picado for super fast scales. (See Paco de Lucia.) I've played classical for forty years and calling it finger style does not do justice to what is required as the tiniest shift of the right hand can radically alter the tone. What is awesome is to see the way he has used that style on electric. Jeff Beck, Mark Knopfler and Steve Hackett use their fingers but this guy has re-written the rule book.
Wow, great comment! Thanks for pointing it out with the tone! Just an amazing new approach.
Exactly 💯 kinda like Beck and Knopfler but a little different. He also uses his thumb and index to strum chords but without a pick. I injured my right hand and I too can't hold a pick well so I play kinda the same but not nearly as well.
Actually he started with the electric :D watch the excellent interview with Rick Beato...
And this was 6 years ago. He's leveled up since then.
Dont forget the 2 others..so gifted too
At 71, I've seen a LOT of guitar artists. This young man is going to be among the greats of all time! His style(s) and relaxed demeanor are incredible.
And their communication. A veritable holy trinity!
I couldn't agree more. I've watched hundreds of great players on YT recently. For me, he stands out a bit - even from the best one could name. It's not just technique, but a fantastic musicality, taste, discretion - everything. So good he reduces one to tears.
you are absolutely correct, a virtuoso already
I may sound negative but this stuff has been done til boredom. A flood of notes.
@@danielduplantier4526 new since when?..I like fast playing but from time to time just hold that note ! Please xD jaj..
I loved how the guitarist played that finger style, and he was very relaxed and his fingers moved really precisely.
He squeezed so much extra by way of nuanced tone and dynamics by using his fingers like that!
Not a pick...
That finger style feels weird to me though
I haven’t seen a guitarist play with his fingers like that before
@Lee McDonald not necessarily. most bass players dont grow their nails out that far, so he may just be a fingerstyle jazz player with some major chops.
@Lee McDonald I've seen some other comments on this video where they say that his Instagram shows that he comes from playing classical nylon string guitar. Maybe he just started that way and then took some specific techniques from bass players or something :)
There are loads of cool techniques fusioning today, and I really like it!
Animals As Leaders as a prog metalband with 8 string guitars using double thumping and many other crazy techniques.
Charlie Robbins who uses rasgueado, a flamenco style of strumming on his solo stuff, combining prog metal with flamenco.
That one video "djent jazz funk" using an 8 string guitar and mixing slap and pop techniques on it with clean jazz licks and djent chugs and so on.
Guthrie Govan with his absolutely mindbending shreds, while also playing slap and pop techniques, tapping, playing on a fretless guitar.
Polyphia, prog metal, who combine shredding with a lot of harmonics, hybrid picking, and so on to create danceable trap/hip-hop influenced guitar music.
This is the best time to be alive to really start seeing guitarists think outside of the box, in my humble opinion :)
What’s mind blowing is the lines/ phrasing he has @ his age. He not just repetitive six note patterns. This young man is a guaranteed legend to behold. I hear Beck, Holdsworth, Lane , & it’s all wonderful!🤟🏻
Ascolterei questi tre fenomeni tutto il giorno... 365 giorni all'anno !!! Che meraviglia...😍 e che manici 👏❤️ 🎷🎷
You sir are a terrifyingly good guitarist.
Josh Namba indeed
Josh Namba - Absolutely. Not to mention “Jaco Junior“ and the excellent drummer. May the three of you take your music as far as your hearts desire!
Yes, extraordinary at any age; miraculous at his age; I'm not sure this brilliantly talented dude is even old enough to vote!
lol
No shit, this kid is a beast
OUTSTANDING!!! When I see young artists playing real music, it restores my hope that REAL music will never die. All three are extremely talented! Thank you all for sharing your God given talents 🙏
I agree wholeheartedly. I am 70 and seen many innovative bands of the late '60's and Jazz fusion of the '70's with outstanding musicianship.
The modern world of music seems so heavily manufactured today, such that I feel alienated. Hughly skilled all and wonderful to listen to. Thank you guys.
The "Actual Proof" additions are so perfect. These two tunes are perfect together!
I can't get enough of this version, and the stellar performance by these talented musicians. Well done!
This trio would receive an overwhelming welcome at the Blue Note in New York City. Matteo, Riccardo, Salvatore, consider booking a flight from Palermo to JFK Airport.
Ha funny to see your comment Tonight.. I'm going there tomorrow to see Robert Glasper with Esperanza Spalding! ✌️🔥🎸🎶🎵🔥
The best part is these guys are so young playing Jazz Fusion..
The virtuosity is mindboggling.
I'm 53..I've played guitar faithfully since I was 13... and I'm in awe!
This truly is music to my ears
Ricks interview with Matteo brought me here. Love it!!!
Matteo came into my sphere of knowledge when I saw that same interview. A few days after watching it, I had an ad pop up that he was playing at a rather intimate venue (The Boardwalk in Orangevale, CA: it was sold out at its max capacity of 390), less than 10 miles away. 40 feet or less from the stage and likely the most amazing concert I'll ever see. With the same bassist.
Pls help me understand why there would be people that gives us a thumbs down I just don’t understand how people can be such haters this kid is the greatest guitarist of our lifetime and they’re just jealous or Ignorant, Either way they are just frustrated fools they don’t appreciate genius
This one!
The people who gave a thumbs down are probably Justin Bieber fans
Grandissimi! Bello vedere giovani e italiani suonare a questi livelli. Vi auguro il massimo del successo, ve lo meritate.
By far the best version of the Chicken on UA-cam. What an amazing drummer!
Right? Both bass and drums are outrageous!
@@johnnyozelius6852Why?
This was a great version. You should also check out keyboardist Valeriy Stepanov, Jay Stave, Paul Kholodyanskiy | The Chicken: ua-cam.com/video/CGf62-MG014/v-deo.htmlsi=TMU8J0EilslPL4KM. Another amazing musician! His fingers are so fast they almost blur.
Simply... an awesome display of musicianship and artistry by all three! Brilliant!!
How jealous or immature do you have to be to give a thumbs down to ANY of this fantastic musicianship?
0:51 - looks like Matteo re-materialises after teleporting somewhere mid-jam.

Japan is big on fusion
😂
The drummer and bass player are on the same level as this amazing guit player
the plectrum pick technique is suddenly So Last Century
I had no idea it was possible on electric... I'm going to try it. 🤔
I used to play electric like this and still do from time to time but this makes me want to practice it more.
The only down-side is you can’t mute the strings very easily (why you see that black band over his first fret) when doing certain things. It’s not a bad thing, but can become a crutch if you leave it on while practicing.
@@ryanlyle9201 a good way to mute with this fingerstyle, is to use John petrucciani's bass technique. The thumb rests on a string most of the time and the ring finger is bent to mute lower strings . Look at his instructional vid here on UA-cam.
@@ryanlyle9201 I have no idea except for what I see, but didn't Stanley Jordan play with this technique (on 2 guitars at the same time). He's still one of my favorites.
@@dirliedirl look balawan guitarist its more interest
Spicy bastards! Shockingly good. Nice to see talented youth that can actually play. Well done lads.
You are my favorite young Jazz Fusion band.... big up drummy, bassy, guitsy. John Patitucci, Gambale, and Weckl can be proud of you.
Lost count of how many times I've watched this.
Me too 😄
Same for me
Best chops I've seen in 45 years of being a guitar lover.
You would love Shawn Lane, especially his work w/ Jonas Hellborg and Jeff Sipe.
I have stumbled across the most exacting and brilliant version of this tune I've ever heard. These people are out of this world.
Although Matteo steals the show, Riccardo and Sal are excellent n their own right... I keep on watching focusing on each one of them, and what a treat ! My favorite moment is at 1.13 :)
I've been concerned about the current and future state of music, but these cats have convinced me that it's in good hands!
Matteo, Riccardo, Salvatore - just fantastic - wonderful talent - lots of fun! Best Wishes for your musical careers - lots of respect from Ohio USA!
A classic played beautifully. You kept the feel of the original song.
Respect, rip Jaco
This trio needs to tour. Very jazzy fellas . The scaleing and finger picking is so on. With missle seaking accuracy. Keep it up fellas. You guys are going to big places in life. And us fans are here for the ride.
ai tempi nostri trovare ragazzi che suonavano così era difficile...questi 3 sono dei mostri!
I've just started my own country and made this the national anthem. (The Olympics are going to be awesome when we take the gold.)
Underrated comment :) Alas, i'm going to start my own country as well, and i'm afraid i will immediately have to declare war to you, so we can battle for the rights to use this as our national anthem!
very nice! the bass was feeling that.!
I don’t care about negativity. I’ve watched this video many times and never gets old. Found out about Matteo a few years ago.
Love it when he plays with his Father who is no slouch.
Terrifying, other worldly technique, execution and note choice! How the hell do you get this good, this young!!
Your solos are that good that it sounds precomposed - no wasted notes at all - my biggest respect for you.
I can’t believe it took me this long to find this. Matteo is among the best I’ve ever seen and playing “bass style” no less!
You mean flamenco?
no one should be threatened by these guys, they have talent and worked very hard I'm sure but let face it they are gifted. Don't feel bad most of us are not
Fanno .,..piacere!!! Musicisti,para-musicisti e amatori... c'è ancora una speranza...
Matteo Riccardo e Salvatore assolutamente incredibili!!! Lo sto ascoltando da giorni e non mi stanca mai! Meraviglia, siete un patrimonio dell'Unesco!
Dude...
There is just no words to describe how your playing alone amazes me
Your technique is so unconventional yet you don’t fail to accurately play with such dynamics...
Also, the chemistry and virtuosity of the rest of the trio is just too much
What an amazing trio, outstanding playing by all of them
Mancuso is gonna be fun to watch the next 30 years.. your looking at one of the next guitar legends I action. This while trio is insanely impressive. You guys got big things ahead in life.
We meet again ladies and gentlemen. Cheers to an absolutely impeccable artistry. These gentlemen made our dreams come true.
Even as Italians go (and they generally seem to have musical super-powers ) this band is way above average. Hopefully the world doesn't manage to ignore this, as it has so many great things...
never seen anyone play electric like that.
Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits? Still way different tho.
@@marcelogarcia3 knopfler was NEVER this precise.
better feel/emotion....but not this precise.
@@TheSighphiguy lol, like it's been a month...anyway, that's why I stated it's 'still way different'. feel/emotion any day over precision, and that's why Hendrix, Vaughn, Van Halen, Knopfler etc will always be looked up more over the likes of 'precision' players.
Flamenco rest strokes
You need some jazz in your life.
53, been playing almost 40 years and...wow! Not just the technicality... everything!
I hope he/they come to New Zealand and play a concert before I die. I am just in awe of the skill - of all of them.
Ok. What did I just click on. Holy crap this good. Made my day. awesome.
What a great band of virtuosos. I hope they write and compose as well as they play because they will take their place in the constellation of the greats.
Virtuoso technique and superb musicality. And everyone looks like they're having a great time. Just such a wonderful recording.
I'm 102 years old playing guitar since I'm four and i want to be like Matteo when I grow up. Sorry for grammar errors I have Alzheimer
Four minutes and thirty five seconds of holy fucking shit x3.
So simple, so rich in sound and rhythm and there's only three of them. Brilliant!
... these three were born to play these three instruments 🎉
Somebody has to give that bassist a raise!!!! And yes...I'm a guitar player!
Altro che inglesi o americani, questi tre ragazzi sono sensazionali, davvero complimenti.

Matteo Mancuso Me too; I know freakishly great talent when I see it!
oh get a trip of yourself !!! you are having an attack of the vapours ...it's jolly good with lots of diminished runs over the "nearly blues" structure of dominant chords ..which kind of gives it a great "outside" sound

JUST--FREAKIN'--AWESOME!!!
I just love listening to and watching young musicians who genuinely enjoy having fun playing as a band.
Ditto!
This is some of the best guitar playing I've ever heard both in terms of groove and technicality 🔥
you made today one more old man smiling happy. grazie
That's great bass work, I've been studying this song for a while and there are so many interesting ideas in this performance I haven't heard anywhere else.
His backup musicians are very good as well❗️
This is so good. Every element, every musician. Incredible!
Siete dei fottutissimi mostri!!! ❤🔝👏
Wow, that guitarist's playing is incredible, not too much, not too little. The balance between all three is great.
Bravissimo ,belle musique .Voilà de nouveaux talents .❤❤❤❤
Watching this again for about the 100th time!!!!!
Taking the instrument to the next level! Gifted musician. Start revamping all those lists of greatest guitarists.
For me the best part is the beginning of the guitar 2nd chorus (around 1:49) where that bass crazy groove seems to anticipate Matteo's blues lick starting with Ab.. unbelievable..

Really inspiring, gold standard for musicality and musicianship. 👏👏👏
You are just the perfect mix. You and your bassist are amazing, and the drummer, just wowwww
All that superhuman technique couple with that sweet beautiful tone... Humbling
The best trio ive ever seen in my whole life. Great job guys
That drummer is completely bananas too :O I just soaked in the JOURNEY this weekend. It's so damn good!
The sound you just heard was 1000 guitar players chucking their instruments into the dumpster.
😂😂😂😂😂
Well thats a shame. Because what they should be doing is practicing more ;)
It doesn't get any better than this...
1:18 - that's some drum chops there - the whole band, so tight!
Bro I accidentally clicked on this and became a fan. Watched the whole thing and argued with my sister about what’s harder drums or bass. Drums… no question
Seriously incredible playing guys!:):) So tight, effortless and groovy!
I love that he finger picks the guitar. Killin'
Such a creative arrangement! And ferocious playing by all!
All three of them are amazing. I'll be listening to them for the rest of my life.
Some of these lines just can't be executed without your finger style technique. So brilliant, grateful to have been following you from the beginning.
I hate it when I discover amazing musicians way after they've made a splash in the music scene, but for whatever reason UA-cam only recently put this on my dashboard. If you ask me, Matteo is beyond amazing, and I will not be surprised if he and his band of Snips are not breaking records as far as record sales(whenever he releases a record) and touring Europe, the U.S. and the rest of the world.
Breaking record sales of instrumental fusion jazz in 2020?
