💯% I trust him. NOBODY, experts, scouts, coaches, predicted CJ to do what he did. It's inexact & nobody mentions, he scouted Justin too, so he must see some traits that can lead to success.
damn, I always forget the bears had the first overall pick last year too. Wild, but I don't think they'll make the same mistake again this year. They're taking Williams number one. Look i want Justin Fields to stay in chiago. But i can understand if Ryan Poles trade Justin and pick Caleb. The only thing I'm concerned about about is the young man's maturity and his domineering father.
Yea it's always going to be that way for him. The father is a major influence in his life. He started him training to be a pro athlete at a very young age at Caleb's request. So caleb definitely considers him a major factor to his success and I'm sure he is. When it comes to NFL there is alot more politics involved that I don't think they are going about correctly so far. Or it least that what the rumors and reports suggest

Everyone who has worked with him speaks very highly of Caleb. I don't listen to media bias. I mean his whole OL showed support by showing up to the ceremony when he won the Heisman
Go listen to Caleb on The QB Room podcast. You can get to know who Caleb really is. His maturity is no issue. He's very humble, honest, hardworking and has an all around awesome personality. Been putting in serious work since 10 years old. These supposed maturity issues etc are such false narratives. The dude is very wise for his age.

Justin, played a major role in setting up that potential! It's too bad Justin got injured! That said, keep Justin and build around him!

Let's say hypothetically, he has decided to stick with Justin. Would he say that NOW? Can't he get more draft picks or players in return for his no 1 pick, if people believe he might just stay at no 1 and take a new QB?
He'll play it as close to the vest as long as he can... it's really a game of chicken between Chicago and Washington. The Bears might like to have Caleb, but the Commanders need Caleb badly. The new ownership group wants a new stadium, Caleb would help them sell it. Poles can play off their desperation, get a haul for no. 1 and only have to move down one spot.

“I just want to do right by Justin” the language is interesting. He could be waiting on the right trade offer that brings the bears back something good but also sends justin to somewhere that he likes.
I think he just means that they want to get that trade out of the way as soon as they can. He's trying to get some legit trade offers before free agency begins.

Trust him without question but he said more than once...build the team, meaning roster...wasn't ruling out a QB at one but...easy to see he's about filling holes. Therefore, whst's your read? With him knowing what he's already got at QB... And what if Panthers were good enough last year to only give them 5th...10th pick? What's Mr Poles doing then? Rhetorical...the exact same thing. The Falcons should trade their second and maybe a later round pic next year for fields whatever that looks like. But then they should also trade down if possible with the Denver or Las Vegas or anyone else that might be coming up to get McCarthy. That way they can reclaim that second round pick that they give away, still get a quarterback, still get a great receiver in the first round with someone like AD Mitchell and have three or possibly four for second rounders depending on how the Ridley contract plays out. I've already got a lot of talent in-house and can gather a lot more for the new coaching staff but also have a quarterback who has been able to show some clumps of real potential. Id love this

To me fields has all the potential in the world. He’s made those hard throws, he’s also missed some. However if you get Harrison Jr and have Moore you give fields two number 1 WRs to throw to.
Take Harrison Jr #1 or move back one or two and take him. The ladder is scary. I would take him #1 and a pass rusher number 9. Sprinkle in some defense off of free agency.
Caleb just doesn’t spark my attention. Watching him this year I say it’s an easy pick to stay with fields.
The Bears can literally get GENERATIONAL HAULS for trading the #1 pick and even the #9 pick…. Also getting MHJ on top of all that. Their offense could be unstoppable with Fields under center. They need a REAL CENTER, and a LG. No defense will know how to stop them… Cannot double team BOTH DJ Moore and MHJ.. It’ll be a nightmare to plan against the Bears. Throw Kmet into the mix who I think can be a top 5 TE. Casuals will say, Fields won’t be throwing to them and just running more. He has made great throws while having protection time to time. I just can’t wait to see what happens

It's embarrassing the level of certainty people carry around this phrase about Justin. The team gives up to many sacks, and without Justin, your running game is below average. Because of this your ability to run screens, play action was based of off Fields' ability to run not the threat of the actual RB getting the ball. A huge flaw in Getsy's design and not having that layer or wrinkle. Khalil Herbert was nice, Foreman was cool, and Johnsons is promising, but we need a real threat back there. We need OL still, and badly. One's that can stay healthy (Jenkins, Davis missed to many games) and can actually move and attack DL. WR core outside of Moore was butterfingers. We need an effective, surehanded TE2 or upgrade at TE that and work the slot and be a real dynamic threat in that sense. Shane Waldron probably said, "You want more out of a QB, you'll need a good running game that doesn't rely on him to run." Aaron Rodgers was one of the most sacked QBs at the peak of his powers. He won one SB, and teased more than that every single year in GB. Poles isn't looking for that. Championship caliber means it is doing way more than what Rodgers did as a Packer. We have to be in a Poles mindset and aim higher than a copy paste team. Copycats just end up being the guys looking up at the real McCoy.
Caleb Williams not opting out of the combine tells me he doesn't want Bears to get information on him. He is significantly smaller than Fields and his accuracy is not that great. Had a TD-INT of 6-6 in the last 5 games against solid defenses. This one has Baker Mayfield written all over it. Similar in attitude, too.

If it was easy to select a QB everybody would have a good one. It's not. The Bears missed on Mahomes and they haven't had a truly outstanding QB since what the 40s with Luckman? McMahon was solid and a winner but not a true volume star. So now suddenly the Bears are good at picking QBs? We'll see. Personally I find Caleb just too temprental to be a franchise winner. I like Jayden Daniels but I could seee keeping Fields as a decent QB when you get a HOF WR and better O line which they can do in this draft. Also like Malek Nabers freak!

I’m not an analytics guy but something tells me the smartest thing to do is trade back to 2 and get a haul from Washington. THEN trade down again. Keep Fields. Get him Harrison Jr or even Nabers/Odunze depending on how far you trade down. Then you got plenty of great draft capital for players or even trading for elite players in their prime if you don’t wanna gamble. I don’t think Williams is worth it. I have a bad feeling about him. Bears can be unstoppable with this offense, defenses cannot double team both MHJ and DJ… Fields will have time in the pocket. The organization knows this thankfully, because a lot of this supposed fanbase doesn't. I love Fields, but the upgrade at the most important position is paramount to being a contender.
@@CB-or6cb Lamar had 6 pro bowlers on that 2019 offense not including himself. 3 of those were on the O-line, and 2 of those O-line men became All-pros. Fields hasn’t came close to having that.. Lamar’s best receiver didn’t even touch 600 yards, only the TE was in the 800s yards. A lot of it was his running as he got the new record for QB rushing.. Half of Fields’ receivers in 2022 a season when they tanked, are either FA or reserves on another team.. Mahomes has a HOF COACH and obviously is just a very special QB. There’s no other like him bro, but he’s had PRO bowl guards/tackles most of his career. The year he lost to Brady in the SB, I believe some were hurt and there was back ups in there and he got slaughtered by that Bucs defense…. It happens even to the best. This season he won again but most of it was him, for sure. Pachecho is an elite RB also. Bears haven’t had ANY of that for Fields at all…. When’s the last time Bears even had a pro bowl or all-pro offensive lineman? It’s been a decade already. I still believe in Fields he does have things to fix, but I think if he does stay then maybe Waldron can tweak some of those things. Getsy changed Fields’ footwork and it didn’t always work. Time will tell, I trust Poles and I just want the Bears to win and be respected again !

I like Moore but Fields isn't better than anyone else they bring in. He likes his guy and he should, but he'll quickly get over it when he sees the talent level of Williams or Maye.

Mr. Poles...in terms of your comment about "sustaining success for a long period of time"...did you happen to watch the San Francisco 49ers over the last season in a half...going to 2 NFC Conference Championship games and overtime in this year's Super Bowl with a quarterback who was the LAST PLAYER DRAFTED in the 2022 Draft??
Or the fact that they went to 2 previous Conference Championship games and a Super Bowl with a quarterback, who is now a backup, ostensibly without a team, in 2 of the previous 3 seasons before that??
