Man Eater of the Crescent Mountains by Kenneth Anderson | Adventure Audiostory

  • Whilst out looking for young crocodile specimens in the Cauvery (Kaveri) River- Kenneth and his son Donald are informed about a man-eating tiger near a towering hill known as Hogar Khan in the Baba Budan mountains. The father and son duo then embark on a captivating expedition that has the makings of an extraordinary hunting escapade.
While no exact dates are given, a best guess effort would place the events in the story as taking place sometime in the late 1950s to early 1960s.

Apratim, I was taken by a surprise when I received a UA-cam notification for your new upload on your channel, just two weeks after your last one. Hearing stories from Bangalore, especially in your calming voice, is truly heartwarming. Your stories have seamlessly woven into my nightly routine before bedtime, and I'm fully aware of the commitment it takes to craft such content. I want to express my gratitude to you, Apratim, for your incredible work and the myriad ways in which you've helped people. Keep up the remarkable work 💚💐🌺

This is lovely! Thank you for letting me know. Wishing Christian many more hours of peaceful sleep!
Truth be told this is why I started reading these stories in the first place. I needed to listen to something peaceful from the natural world to help tune out from this mad, crazy world we live in. To help me sleep better, I started reading them myself. Happy to see they are helping others out there too.

    • @selvalore
      @selvalore  8 місяців тому +1

@@Sabaism No I have not been able to. It is a magical place to visit, especially if you manage to spend a night or two at Dhikala (Forest bungalow) which is inside the National Park itself and you can hear Tigers calling in the night.
Sadly, its been a little overcrowded in recent years as other popular National Parks here in the states so do your research before going.

Stories like these bring out the magic of Indian wildlife. Thank you so much. Can you also please upload the audio of "The Black Rogue of Moyar Valley" adventure from Kenneth Anderson's book "The Call of the Man-Eater"?
It was an incredible story where Anderson escaped with the skin of his teeth (especially when playing catch-me-if-you-can on the rock with the elephant). It was also fascinating how - the Indian Rogue Elephant - goes out of it's way to silently "stalk" it's human victims, almost like a predator.
    Thanks a lot.

Kenneth Sir must be jubilant at his prodigy, if only hhe had known what sad fate Don had in store.
    .
We as Indians feel guilty of not giving proper tribute to KDS' memory and for loneliness of his son Don in old age. At least a few of my Bengaluru brethren found him and accompanied Don in his last days. He and his family were true Indians - as much as any of my ancestors are.

Next time you're at that place, or near it, been down and pat the ground for me please. I'm in Oklahoma, U.S.A. It's about a six DAY drive for me, assuming I figure a way to make it across the Pacific. Basically what I'm saying is I really have no hope to ever see that place in my life. Please tell it hello for me

At the beginning he talks about a family of tigers that he knew the whole story of in one of them ended up becoming a man-eater. He said it's related in a different story. Do you know which story he's referring to?

@52:00 I often wonder about Man eating animals after they eat a victim with a blood-borne disease like leprosy how their body rejects the poisonous blood. I have to imagine a tiger will actually get violently ill afterward, as leprosy is no joke.

Thats a great point! You might be on to something here. I would love to know the answer to that although I'd imagine a big cat's immune system would be strong enough to thwart off something like that.

Does anyone out there reading this think they have what it takes to possibly go out and do what K.A. or Jim Corbett did?? I don't think men like that exist anymore. As much as I would like to step up and say yeah I'm man enough to do that, NO W-A-Y!!! HAHAHA how crazy

    • @Sipunbera8860

Both have nerves of steel.... people of northern side believe that Corbett have grace of goddess Durga (her servant is tiger )..and people of South believe that kenneth have some spritual powers which make tigers unconscious..I alsi believe that both are protected by positive energy. Other wise there are lots of people in india who loss their life in maneater hunting.

You need to get out more and meet hunters , it's not glorified anymore and generally despised but men dispatch killers all the time but the public are never told let alone put into story form.

While I dont doubt the events outlined here actually happened, it is likely that some of the facts may have been stretched or altered to suit the narrative. It's upto the reader (or listener) to interpret the degree to which that has happened. I choose to believe in it.
