I have a question. You said you put grease in the groove holding the seal spring to hold the spring in the seal. Is that correct? Normally, I just put a little grease on the sealing surface of the seal and try to get it over the stepped edge of the crank before seating it and seat it flush with the top rim of the case. Am I screwing up?
