The only reason I learned about Hyway products at wolf creek saw shop was because of this channel. Had a question on something today so I called Ryan . Quick and effortless service shipped within an hour of my call. The service at wolf creek is the best hands down.
Grease on the bearings might just collect dust and debris where you dont want it. Also I'm surprised no blue Loctite on the case screws, but either way thanks abunch! My saw acted like it locked up and not the cylinder or piston. I know nothing about saws, it has a big bore kit and this might be the culprit, THANK YOU for the video and for the high quality part references! ps: Also gotta make note of the good ol T-handle allen trick, go until it twists and that's torque
Those old cases are excellent, I've never had one from that era with bad bearing pockets. I would rather have a used OEM than a FT, never tried the NPW. Might need to put one into a test program. Have 3 from that era in the junk pile. 300 degrees the magic number for me and my turkey roaster :)
Love the content, channel, and it’s awesome to be able to tune in and watch someone that is so humble and continues time and time again in your videos to stress how you are just a regular guy like all the rest of us. I appreciate the knowledge you are trying to share with all of your followers.
You mentioned building up a 2005 (old) saw. I just built up a STIHL 064, manufactured in 1986! 😅 Great content and great channel. Thanks for all your videos!
When using a heat gun to heat the cases you will find heating the outside/ oil pump/ flywheel side works better and a safer option. Heating inside the crankcase one runs the risk of overheating the coating inside the crankcase around the bearing causing it to lift, sometimes days later sending bits of the coating into the bearings and top end. I have seen this in Stihls especially. If the coating has lifted be sure to remove it.
The first bottom end I ever did, this video gave me the confidence to do so. Since then I’ve done at least a dozen. TinMan I found if you heat the case on the opposite side the bearing, it doesn’t have the tendency to grab any heat and come out easier. Thank you for your videos Amigo.
I stumbled across a great way to get the bearings out of the case ,my missus threw a old electric fry pan in the skip so I grabbed it out and the cord and it worked like a new one but had a few scratches on the bottom ,I was using it to degrease my saws but I also get it up to heat with detergent and water and the heat makes it come apart nice and it decreases it perfect
I slip fit everything like a race bike engine cause it all expands when it gets hot anyway then ya dont need any fancy tools and it comes apart much easier next time ya gotta do it
Great video Tinman! I built a 372 with an NWP crank and Hyway 52mm big bore with pop-up and so far so good, this saw gets run hard. And all the parts came from wolfcreek saw shop from your recommendation. Ryan has been great to deal with!
I like Wolf Creek he's done me good on the parts I've ordered I have a Wolf Creek sticker on my g660. I probably need to upgrade the crank in my g660 before I machine the cylinder. She will spin up to 1450 purity quick out the cut now lol 💣
What brand bearings do you use or recommend? I Like SKF brand but if you think another brand is better for perhaps High RPM applications I'd be all ears?
Hey Tinman, I want to start off by saying I love the videos! That said I have a saw in pieces that means alot to myself and a group of friends. It would be no rush for it being completed. I'd love to talk to you more about this adventure if you're interested.
Have you ever done a "turbo crank" or a "vein crank"? What's your thoughts on those? In my mind I feel it would add power just because it increases the volume of the bottom end (similar to grinding the cases) but you know better than I do
Hey friend, I'm actually in the middle of the exactly same build same saw, parts kits and everything how long exactly did you heat the case with your heat gun to get it hot enough to drop it over the bearing i have the exact heat gun too lol
hey Tinman. great stuff. I'm building my first 266xp. I was wondering if you would share some timing numbers with me. I've done quite a few other saws, but never a 266. I want it to be strong and reliable. I normally get my timing numbers from Uncle Harvey , but you are the 266 master. I am using a Meteor piston with a stock Mahle cylinder. Thanks in advance for your time. Shelby Wright.
Did you know you can microwave the bearings instead of a heat gun or torch? Just wrap the bearings in wet paper towel and it won’t arc. AVE had this on his channel and it works mint
Good stuff. Really enjoying the 200 and 300 series builds. Will a the 372 cases fit on a 371? I have a 371 saw with a smashed case on the mag side that I need to replace. Thank you for your time, skill and knowledge. TC Mahalo Tinman 🤙🤙🤙
Show us NEXT TIME putting the seals in on that 372. BTW, if you’re going big bore then I’d recommend a crank for a an Xtork because of the inherent balance required for a big bore.
hi tinman ,i am going to replace piston on 162se ,i have meteor piston ,can u help regards needle bearing was not supplied with piston ,HELP.awesome video ,peace an love from scotland stu.
I have a brand new Husky 445 X-torque that I want to up the size with a new jug and piston. is there a combination that I can go to for that.? I have any tools in the world of mechanics, Imperial and metric, I used to build sprint cars and a few custom modifieds ( a stock car type) but I owned and drove open wheel cars. I also did setups on other sprints and miiidgets, for other owners, Once I retired my operation, I sold my custom hydraulic tubing bender and my big TIG welder. I still own my whole enginer repair primarily but still emphasizing all kinds of street cars, modifided, sprints, midgets working for other owners primarily with Small Block Chevies--5.7 liters; 350 cubic inch or bored out. I want to start a shop working on 2 strroke engines , for chainsaws and race Karts. or other 2 strokes.
Be interested to see what you could do with that saw. Unfortunately I have no experience with those so I can't say if there's a bigger top end that would fit.

Ryan is tops for sure!!

Great job !!
Just a fella working in his shop like the rest of us Tinman! I love it!!!
It's the truth. Just a fella

You should build a saw for logger Wade
❤
Will you show how to put the crank seals in. Thats the only thing i always struggle with

Howdy Mr tinman great stuff as always thanks for being ot there!!!!Sierra john!

Hey if the chain cools down after running it awhile while keeping it fairly tight that's a possibility to squeeze thee clutch and crank after cooling!
Thank you for the info on installing crankshaft bearings it's going to help me 😊
Hi Tinman love your clips, cheers from NZ
Tinman, thanks for taking the time to answer my question of the day. Great video and information as always.
Thanks Tinman! I'm building my 365 special along with you as you build this 372 🤘
Right on, I love 365 specials
Great video as always... I like to put the crank in the freezer.. I like seeing everyone's way of doing things
Thank you for demystifying this!👍
I enjoyed it
Always good to venture in new directions. Excited for the future 3 series content this saw will bring!
You make it looks so easy... awesome video Tinman!!
Yess Tinman! Getting after it. Looking forward to seeing what you do to this one. Like you, first saw I went through on my channel was a 365 special 🤘
I slip fit everything like a race bike engine cause it all expands when it gets hot anyway then ya dont need any fancy tools and it comes apart much easier next time ya gotta do it
You make it look easy Tinman.
Thanks
Lots of good info
Thank you

Very nice👍🏻
Man you make that look so easy. Is it still as satisfying doing it the 1000th time as it is the first few times?
It's more satisfying I think???
Skf bearings is what husqvarna uses on there saws from the factory and there inexspensive
Hay Tinman how come you didn't use the moto seal on the case half ??
Hay Tinman, it's only a mistake if you don't fix it ! Cheers man. 🍻
Belhopper and Tinman both working on 372s right now😂
hi tinman ,i am going to replace piston on 162se ,i have meteor piston ,can u help regards needle bearing was not supplied with piston ,HELP.awesome video ,peace an love from scotland stu.
I often reuse the original bearing. If you want to replace it the bearings are the same in 162, 266, 272, 372 etc.
Looks like (haven’t tried) u could rig a c clamp or gun puller up to split those cases if I don’t wanna buy one.
For the work involved to make it properly and pull STRAIGHT and not wreck a case, just buy it, and you will find they will work on just about any saw.
I have actually and it works but you have to be careful, and I modified the clamp
What kind of t handle Allen wrench you are using?
When you hit it with the brass hammer, did you hit the case or the end of the crank?
Hit the crank
Apa crankcase 372 sama dengan 365. Apa beda bos ?
They both have the same crank case. The cylinder and piston are the main differences.
When purchasing a rotary tool is the reverse feature a must have or not so much?
I've honestly never reversed my foredom so for me it's not a must have
@@tinmanssaws When purchasing a rotary tool what size chuck is preferable? 4mm or 6mm? or dose it not matter?
Stupid question LOL obviously the 6mm gives more options.
Did you break it tinman
Tin maaaAANNN..!
Why no motoseal on case gasket this time?
Sometimes I do sometimes I don't use it on the cases.
