    I started about 6 months ago making vodka and spiced rum vanilla. Going to use it during Christmas baking. Anxious to use the spiced rum vanilla in my blonde fruitcakes. I cut my vanilla beans in half and scraped some of the beans in bottles. Anxiously waiting.

      Ohhh those Christmas cookies are going to be so good!! Christmas baking season is the main reason I made some fresh batches of vanilla in this video. I needed to be stocked up! 😊😊-Cara

    I love it home made. The thing I use it for the most is my French toast. I put vanilla and cinnamon on mine. My favorite breakfast lol ❤

    My kids asked me why vanilla beans are so expensive. When I told them they are the pods from an orchid they were astounded lol. My 24 yr old said "well I was today years old when I learned that vanilla comes from flowers" lol. I said wait till I tell you why Saffron is stupid expensive 😂

      It is amazing how dark it will get if you let it keep soaking, it’s so nice when it gets really dark 😊-Cara

    They recommend using grade B for vanilla extract.

    • @bluebirdhomestead
      @bluebirdhomestead  8 місяців тому

      Both A &B will work in my experience 😊Grade B is cheaper, which is a bonus! It is more dehydrated and takes a little longer I’ve noticed to “darken” up than grade A. -Cara
