Frank jumped to my life when I was 27. A man I dated used to play FRANK SINATRAS' SONGS I HIS CAR, IN HIS CAMPER,& ON HIS COMFY BOAT AS WE WENT UP & DOWN THE ILLINOIS RIVER
Frank Sinatra / Frankfurt 1991. I´ve been there and I will always remember this great performance of a wonderful song...it´s a long, long road. Thank you, Frank!
@@stevensole4411 the greatest at selling a song and making you believe what he's singing about. In this video he's a shadow of former vocal technique but his ability to connect with audience and entertain them never ended.
I saw Frank at the Universal Amphitheater in 1982. Twelfth row center before there were big screens. Daughter Nancy opened followed by Charlie Calas' very funny shtick. Old Blue Eyes came out and was larger than life. Made fun of Dean Martin (cute) and Rona Barrett (a little tough). It was all 100% in character and wonderful. He explained how many of the band members had been with him for more than 20 years. He gave 100% for the whole performance. I recall thinking while I watched that it might be more of a historical event than a musical concert. Now, 36 years later, I realize I was right. Thank you, Big Guy, for sharing your amazing ride with us.
I watched him smoke that cigarette in the 1950's at the Sydney Rushcutters Bay stadium as the lights were slowly dimmed throught the song and the smoke curled up in the beams of light. Absolute Magic.
...,OUTSTANDING.....A GUY WITH A BROKEN HEART JUST WANTS TO BE HEARD.....WHAT MORE BETTER WAY THAN A QUIET BAR....QURTER TO THREE, ONLY THE BARTENDER FOR COMPANY....AND LETS HIS HEART OUT........
I like his voice better in the autumn of his career... even though the pitch has faded. it's more touching anyway. So much drama in it. it's full of tears. I truly love it.
Right before I listened to the older Frank here, I listened to an early 60s Frank. I gotta say, in his older years his voice becomes smoother yet till retains that sharp or crisp sound. What he is lacking in his older years is the dynamoism (made up word) or dynamic aggressive hint to his singing. If the Great Sinatra could have added his elderly smoothness to his earlier boldness....would make the perfect Sinatra....I kid. God Rest Frank Sinatra and bless his family.
I agree, I think what you mean is breath, his voice got a little smoother, but his lungs just couldn't go like they used to, that's the dynamic part you're referring to
How can anyone dislike this? This is Sinatra's song. He's the only one that ever sang it with so much feeling. If you dislike this, than you dislike Sinatra and you need help if think Bieber's got something going.
Frank sinatra look diffrent when his old , but the voice is more better when him old... I love frank sinatra , i really love swing, jazz singer on 1940s,1950s,1960s , it's really relaxing makes me wanna sleep , when a people like my age (im 13) love a up to date song like justin bieber , katy perry , etc..actually i love type of that song to , but i more love an old song especially for swing jazz
The brilliant Bruno Kirby as Tommy Pischedda in the movie " This is Spinal Tap" said it best "when you've loved and lost the way Frank has...then you know what life's about.
I believe he sing the song in Young at Heart or Jokers Wild. Nonetheless he sings with feelings and magical charm. I think he started with someone to watch over me, just one of those things, and one for my baby and one more for the road. If I had half his talent I'd be a successful singer too.
Lear how to spell. That's such a ridiculous comment. This site isn't about grammar. It's about expressing oneself. Give that contributor a break. You are just trying to appear clever.Whereas it actually makes you look the opposite. You do realise that Shakespeare couldn't spell and his Folios are replete with grammatical variations. I suppose you would've stopped the Bard from writing because he couldn't spell. Also, since YOU are being a pedant;i'm afraid your use of commas is incorrect.
Truth is, he went on too long and in the autumn of his career some of the magic in that voice had faded. But some remained: this is still an interpretation of the song that completely eclipses the competition. Astaire's original up-tempo version skims over the subtle pathos of the lyric. Sinatra's version is, as ever, definitive. Minisight2000 ("I dont think hes a good singer at all") needs some new ears. Sinatra was not a "good" singer, but the yardstick against which to judge all others.

Gorgeous Ava!
Dr Mitch. EXACTLY. HE. NEVER STOPPED LOVING HER. EVER
He sang emotions. That's why there won't be another Sinatra. We miss you Frank ❤️
