This one really hits home..I'm a man in my late 50's whose divorced & single again. Was brought up by parents who adored Frank. As a child I listened to the album, "My Way" on the record player endlessly. Such heartfelt wisdom in Frank's music that I find comforting. I thank God for blessing the world with his musical genius 🙏. RIP Old Blue Eyes. You put smiles on a lot of our faces. I'm grateful for having been able to see him perform on two occasions.

If someone cannot listen to this and not feel any emotion I feel sad for what they are missing. Unfortunately we don't have anything to compare to with today's music but one thing we are so fortunate to go back on UA-cam and be able to view the greatness of Sinatra Dean Martin Andy Williams AL MARTINO burt Bacharach and so many of this area of music that was so good.

This Man is Music, he was the cause of your laughter and make that laughter turn into tears at the flip of a note. Nobody will ever even come close to how great Sinatra was and continues to be even today. The world suffered a great lost the day we lost Frank Sinatra, because we all knew there will never be another man like him. Though we are lucky to still have his music and videos like these, to remind ourselves he may bo gone, be will also be eternally omnipresent.

Frank Sinatra was just another man in this world,, he wasn't spared anything while living HIS life,, as is the case with any man, from anywhere on this earth~!~ We all laugh, cry, and........ wonder-why~!~?~!~ All Frank had over the rest of us, and most other singers, was the most unique vocal chords of all time~!~ He suffered just like the rest of us
and in some ways,, suffered more than most~!~
I am a jazz/blues guitarist of 45 years, and I worked my azzz off during those years,,,,, trying HARD to establish my own sound/technique~!~ I realized that virtually no one among the guitar masters besides
Joe Pass, and a couple of others, emulated the vocals ~closely~ on lead guitar~!~ I decided that I would try my best at literally taking lead vocals and turning them into guitar statements.
Of course I would add my own chord changes, and alter my lead lines ~just enough~, to keep the audience guessing and wanting more~!~ Plus using techniques I learned from the great ~Larry Carlton~, (the man who can DELIVER THE SHIVERS) some people from the audience would actually tell me that they got the chills from my lead melody lines~!~ That always made me so very happy,, because Larry Carlton
gave me the shivers all the time~!~ Mr. Sinatra does exactly the same thing to us ALL~!~

You can tell he was feeling down because of the pain of the expression on his face when he sang those deep hurt songs. That's why he sang with so much feeling. I listen to so many Sinatra songs. When I'm hurt I turn to his cycles, man alone, some nice things I've missed and she shot me down albums. All of those albums can really make a difference. Sinatra did stuff your own consular couldn't do. He understood what you were feeling and that made you feel better in the end.

coololds85 totally spot on man even the greatest men like frank Sinatra have to face their own soul and it’s empty feeling, and at least frank was brave and tried to reconnect with him self, a lot of people hide in a beer or drugs . Last month was I very bad time for me my father my auntie and a old school mate all died with in two weeks of each other and if it wasn’t for frank Sinatra and his wonderful words and music I too might of done something stupid.. nice one for your insight man .

Francis Albert Sinatra was a man who was capable of very deep emotions, deep love, even deep depression at times, and it is his heart opening with those emotions that makes his ballads of this kind so very real, so memorable, so feeling. He KNEW the highs, he had a lot of fun and laughter, and he knew the lows in life as well, and they affected him deeply. He is so REAL! You can hear it in his voice in many of the sadder lyrics. He was a musical genius, also a perfectionist. And he sang with all the heart and emotion that make his songs more memorable than anyone else in history, and I doubt anyone will ever equal him again.
It's been almost a quarter of a century since he died and his songs STILL demand listening, and he gains new devotees every year. He just HAS IT, and new listeners keep recognizing that and demand to hear more! Thank goodness we have his recordings and videos to keep him going strong!

I place this television special as being filmed in 1968, the same year that Sinatra starred in "The Detective" and subsequently divorced Mia Farrow, who declined to leave "Rosemary's Baby" in mid production at Sinatra's request. Sinatra had previously recorded "Forget To Remember" for Capitol in the 50s. Sinatra became enamored with the poetry and music of Rod McKuen, who wrote the "Man Alone" album with Sinatra in mind. His resident composers had been Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen, who wrote most of the signature songs that Sinatra was identified with during the 50s and 60s, i.e. All The Way, My Kind Of Town, Come Fly With Me, High Hopes, Love and Marriage and Call Me Irresponsible.

  • @NikolasBelski
    @NikolasBelski 3 роки тому +6

Frank Sinatra's songs are like fine wine for me. I firstly listened to his song when I'm was fourteen. "Fly me to the moon", "Moonlight serenade" or "Girl from Ipanema" and others like these. Simple and clear songs, understandable for a youth in love. Now I can conceive "A man alone" or "Why try to change me now?". It seems to me that perhaps in a couple of years I'll be able to get the meaning of "Cycles". And in the end it would be "It was a very good year". The older you become, the more you understand Frank Sinatra. He is one and only singer who can do a magic like that.

Sinatra was always finding new ways of expressing his talent for "saloon" songs. The "A Man Alone" lp is an underrated masterpiece of poetry and songs. His performance of "Forget to Remember" was recorded just after his divorce to Mia and his pain is evident in these songs. When he sings, you believe. Thanks for this, so very touching....

There are other singers whose singing I enthusiastically enjoy but Frank Sinatra remains, some sixteen years after he left us, my favorite singer of the popular song. He sang with a combination of truthful emotion, a significantly high degree of technical musicality and an appropriate sense of "showmanship" that, in my opinion, no other singer has ever come close to matching.

As an old bachelor, I look back over the past few decades, and recall the ones that got away. I think about happy times, and shudder to remember some of the horrible times. A Man Alone pretty much says it all.

I was honored to recieve the Album that contained the song ," A Man Alone" , as a gift from my boss at Random House , Mr, Bennett Cerf , before the record was even released yet. It was a collection of songs written by Rod Mckuen , the poet. This must have been a show that Sinatra did with various other songs as well. He was sounding great as usual. I like his version of "Didnt We, "written by Jimmy Webb.

While I was listening I felt like I was back in time, in a darkened bedroom laying in bed with an old fashioned radio beside me. You know the one with the two knobs left and right, and those little push buttons in the middle, and the light shone through from inside the radio on the glass with all the names of cities on it. That was a long time ago...and when a good song came on, you just had that one chance to listen..that was it. That intent ..that intention...just one chance to listen to good music....and this is what he does. He draws you into a song where you have to listen cause you may only hear it once!!!

Be thankful you're able to hear it and have it within yourself to be moved by that singular sound. He's within reach for those moments which will continue to arise. this is so good shows Sinatra the true artist who not only had a second to none voice ,but also his interpretation of the lyrics of these songs were acted out with such style and grace .

Its an amazing piece, read so well with the sadness and loneliness not only in his voice but his eyes and written by a man who lived every one of those words read/sung by Sinatra - the one and only Rod McKuen, sadly now no longer here. Thank you,

The master of the torch song. You can tell he felt the words. I'm sure he was thinking of Ava. I've listened to him sing so many of these great sad and moving songs. One For My Baby, Don't Cry, Joe and Only The Lonely evoke so much emotion and personal reflection on the loss of a great love. Well done, Mr. Sinatra. RIP.

Frank and his agent came to visit my great aunt and uncle in the 1940`s in North Jersey while my father was there visiting. I heard this story long ago and ever since I`ve become a huge fan of Frank Sinatra. His music is in my blood.

« A man alone » is a lovely song for solitary.
« Didn’t we » ( best interpretation by Richard Harris) is a great song to listen in a mutual consent relationship breaking
