  • Hello Everyone!
    welcome back to my channel!
Today I am going to be chatting with you briefly about my advice towards how to get flexible and why being consistent is so important
it's not enough to stretch once a week and it's not enough to hold your stretches for 1 minute. Here I explain my journey with flexibility and when I realised I have to stretch more!

I'm so glad you mentioned staying in the stretch. I haven't been doing that and I think that's what's been holding up my progress.

Yes, it works, but look at the science on this. Do only what feels safe in your body so you do not get injured 🫶

You talk a lot about your time in Vaganova and too little about your work after Vaganova. I would like to know more about your time as a professional dancer, what roles did you get, the places you danced and so on.

I assume that’s because talking about Vaganova gives her a position of authority as someone to talk about ballet training, and there are many non-vagonova teachers on the internet doing similar things. I do agree that it would be interesting to hear about though!

it would be fantastic to see what you have to say about the “Dance of the Little Swans” Vaganova documentary by RTV! it’s on youtube and it’s what brought me to your channel 😁 It shows the audition experience from the perspective of the young russian girls going through the audition process and goes on to highlight some of the coursework and the lives of the students. i think i just want to watch it with you 😅 but really it would be so interesting to hear your input during a watch-along

Sometimes I don't know the extent to which I should push through pain in a stretch. Being uncomfortable and pushing through that, is something I always do, however I've recently been focusing on hips, and when I stretch my right hip in a deep lunge, something feels off. When I get out of the lunge and walk around, it hurts to walk normally and I'm worried I'm going to damage something. I want to be thorough but also be kind and respect my body, but I'm not sure what to do about my hip. Have you ever experienced a roadblock like this?

How long is “a long time”? To hold the stretch? How long should I count?

Hi isabella! I am trying to stretch for long intervals following your advice but I am a bit unsure: I can almost not get into my splits anymore because of how stiff I feel after stretching and my body is very sore- should I just push on ? I was also wondering if you know how I can tell that I'm at the limit of what my bone structure allows. How can I tell it is "bones blocking" in the front splits for instance? Thanks for your help 😊

    Thank you for your videos!
I wanted to ask you, would you say 2 minutes is a good hold for stretches? Or is that ineffective?
    Thanks!

I'd say if the pain goes away after 2 minutes then increase the stretch and hold for another 2-3 minutes. Try to hold for a total of 5-10 minutes making sure it challenges you x

@@balletwithisabellawow ! Thankyou for these tips . Do you have to double strengthening exercises with all that stretching?

Thank you for you videos ! When you say stretches for 10 minutes do you mean stay in over splits without moving for ten minutes or alternating ?? 🤔
