Just offering some insight on the final round. In several European countries, you can buy a vignette that allows you to drive on highways without paying separate toll charges. The A1-A18 does not refer to those roads specifically, but indicates that the vignette covers all the A roads in Lithuania. And even though this border crossing is not on an A-road so you wouldn't need a vignette to drive on it, it makes sense to be able to buy one once you enter the country.
That makes so much sense.
yep
Slovenia too. just I wished I had known about that beforehand which would have saved me 150€ :''''(
There was also Cyrillic on one of the signs, which to me is a clue it was likely Belarus and not Latvia or Poland
Yeah the main hint that it wasn't the border with Latvia (or Poland for that matter) is actually the active border control with guards. It had to be a non-Schengen border. But yeah A1-A18 is not A1 and A18, but A1 until A18, so A1, A2, A3 ... A18, so kinda all throughout Lithuania. So it had to be either a Russian or Belarussian border.
Vignettes are all over Europe.😊
0:34 zi8gzag practicing his pickup lines
😭
I laughed- but genuinely it was kinda adorable😭
I mean, his voice is cute...
he’s cute
he's definitely a cutie patootie 😭😭
0:34 made me go what 😂
0:34 I watched a man be possessed by Rizz in real time
Parizznormal activity 🥶
I've been to Turnu Magurele, the closest town to the chemical plant on the Romanian - Bulgarian border. I am Romanian, but the Bulgarian town of Nikopol is more interesting. It was the site of the last great crusader battle in the middle ages.l, between the Christians under the Hungarian king Sigismund and the Ottomans under Sultan Bayezid. But its history goes back to Roman times.
Love this! Fascinating history
0:34, great pickup line
For the last one: The sign said A1-A18 (A1 to A18) so it was referring to vignettes for all the highways, not only A1 and !8.
Russia that looks like Germany = immediately thought of Kaliningrad! I also drove over that bridge in Euro Truck Simulator 2 xD Good game to learn European landmarks!
"German looking buildings" + Russian flag and my immediate thought was Kaliningrad! I only discovered GeoGuessr like a month ago but I've been getting so into it - it's so cool how many different areas of knowledge you can draw on to improve your guess. I've only played the daily game a handful of times and it put me in locations I've been to, twice!
I'm playing now and then too and I've been to most of europe, so the european maps are the most fun for me. Like i figured out italy because I had been there a month before and I recognised their recycling bins
In Czech, "kraj" means like, 'region' or 'province', same as the Russian word "krai" .
Its funny cuz "kraj" in Polish means "country"
Yeah, that one was specifically "Jihočeský kraj" - southern czechia region. For Czechs like me, that narrows it to like half of the czech-austrian border.
@@k4zaro slavic languages are similar
For the Lithuania-Belarus one, there was currency exchange (Lithuania and Latvia would both be using Euros) and there was cyrillic on some of the papers.
That, and the "A1-A18" is just the Latvian motorways in general
@@Jothamvvw😅didn’t make sense to me
@@ryanolsen294 viniettes is like ticket to buy to drive in motorvays so on sings literally is written you must buy vinietes to all motorways from A1 to A18
Also it looked like a major and protected crossing which wouldn't make sense with Latvia as you cannot expect many problems there (or so I imagine).
Not only that - but Schengen makes these borders between EU countries obsolete...
flag lesson: Slovenia has the little crest on the flag, Slovakia the middle crest and Serbia the big crest
and russia has no crest
And Mozanbique hast a Kalashnikov on it's flag
Serbia's flag colors are in a different order.

19:15 I think it just means that if you intend to drive on one of those highways from A1 to A18, you should put this vignette on your car. A vignette is basically street charges and you can buy one right there at the border crossing. It is not an uncommon thing, e.g. you would need one for Austrian highways too.
with the hungarian tree thing, yes we have a lot of those idk why but its a sickness they get and it produces that
There ist Mistletoe all over central Europe.... there certainly is lots of in Germany.
Its ok zigzag, dont be discouraged by the world cup, keep on the grind♥
You will always be G.O.A. T🐐
0:34 my man Oscar pulled the Flynn Ryder face 😂
15.00 yoo that place was in our Lithuainias news as they prepared some tank traps there.
0:35 aight bet
Bro sees a Russian flag and says every country except Russia
Hello
2:55 as a malaysian, i can confirm that it shouldn't be that border cause the thai-malay border should be pretty protected; you wouldn't see a simple border crossing like that there xd
Loved this video mate, good job with the video editing as well.
0:40 ive never seen zi8gzag not able to take himself seriously 😂
Hungary and Austria are both Schengen countries, so technically it's not even legal to have non-lax border crossings. In practice that might be a bit different from time to time but there are no permanent border controls, i.e. not stationary team for customs and passport control.
3:33 That was "Jihočeský kraj" - South Bohemian region.
14:56 NOOOOOO OSCAR, THINK OF PRUSSIAN ARCHITECHTURE IN KALININGRAD! OSCAR, NOOOO!!!
OMG HE HAS HIS AIRPODS MAX IN, HE CANT HEAR US!!!
didn’t hear the part at 0:34 then went back because of comments LMAOO
Kaliningrad Sprite meta the oldest trick in the book!
Oscar, ive been loving the videos recently. youre also showing a bit more personality i feel like. keep going!
Tip for recognising recognizing Lithuanian writing - letter "Ė/ė" is a dead giveaway, it's the only major language to use it.
"major"
@@qandrshow-m7k I meant "major" as in a national language spoken by couple millions of of speakers.
The letter ė is also apparently used by few Native American languages, a regional dialect of German, and to occasionally denote sound no longer used in modern Croatian. Basicly extremely unlikely to see on random signs, advertisements, and other every day uses, so if you see an "Ė/ė" you can 99.99% percent be sure you're reading Lithunian writing.
i would guess the a1-a18 line just means you can get vignettes for all highways, and theres 18 of them
This is a great idea for a challenging map.
19:25 I think that the A1-A18 is just an illustration that the vignette allows you to drive on those.
0:34 okay, but Australians and their rizz is just 🤌🏻 (speaking as a fan of SKZ)
100% Bang Chan could have dropped the exact same pickup line 😂. Both him and Oscar have a very simillar vibe too
idk why when you saw a big border like in the final one, you checked the lithuania-latvia border, even tho there is literally no border there. we drove trough that last year and since its shengen there is obviously no border, just a straight road
Love the Gopnik "addidas meta" 😂
On that danube border crossing that you got between Bulgaria and Romania, I crossed exactly through there just 3-4 months ago LOL. Even I didnt recognize the place until the answer was shown.
Hello, Zig! Great video! On the romanian border round, that is actually a chemical plant, and the city Turnu Măgurele is just a few Kms to the north! You have a viewer that was there! 😁

13:03 Zigzag's first instincts: Germany
Ends up being... Kaliningrad, which was once owned by Germany (Prussia) for a very long time 😅
Trust your instincts 👏 This is a very famous bridge as well
Your channel is my favourite I have learned many tips from you and will continue to learn will always be there for you oscar❤
"hey we should kiss" - zi8gzag aura
0:34 I think I’m gay..
As a bisexual man myself, I'd happily kiss zigzag.
My favourite GeoGuessr content creator!!! Nice pick up line btw 😂
With respect to the thumbnail, that comolicated border between the Netherlands and Belgium was quite interesting during COVID travel restrictions 🇳🇱 🇧🇪
when you zoomed into the language on the final round, i saw not just lithuanian and english, but also a bit of russian. that combined with the fact that it's some kind of actual structure on the crossing and not just *nothing*, like it often is between schengen members (eg lith and latvia), convinced me that it was the belarus border and i found it on gmaps soon after that
(also i found the kaliningrad border in like 5s cuz i recognized the location and vibe LMAO that was a fun one to see)
(note: ive never been to the kaliningrad border personally)
(note 2: i know some lithuanian language and im a fluent russian speaker)
5:25 "BYEBYE SAFE JOURNEY" is pretty sweet ngl
Playing Eurotruck Simulator 2 for a huge amount of hours actually served a purpose for I recognized Kaliningrad immediately.
(Has zi8gzag ever played that before? I think it would be cool to see him play that with some sort of 'no gps' and road diversion handicap. It obviously can't live up to the huge amount of roads found in reality, but traffic, diversions and delivery deadlines can still make for quite the challenge that I think would be fun to watch a series of.)
0:34 hello??? 😂😂😂
11:12 I’ve actually been there 😂
Fascinating video! Thanks zi8gzag!
Anyone that has played Euro Truck Simulator 2 knows the Sovetsk border crossing :D
The craziest part about the missed kalingrad guess is he said the river is south and then guessed south of a river instead of north.
as a hungarian, yes, those circle things are everywhere. didnt know they were specific to hungary
Vignette is for highways A1 to A18 (all numbers between), probably all highways in country. That is how I understand that.
The goat is back 🐐 Such a great video!
Czech pronunciation on top
00:34 caught me of guard
8 views in 1 minute, bro’s popping off
I curse myself for being asleep 8 minutes ago when this was uploaded
A1 - A18 means. There are paid roads numbers from A1 to A18 and you should buy toll or avoid those roads.
W!! Lets go zi8gzag iade one of all the aus borders for states u should try that!
bro, trust the adidas russia meta. it's never wrong. i don't even play the game but the architecture and flag made me immediately think east prussia
Should play the map by LazyBugatti where you are looking into a country that doesn't have coverage
The Kalilingrad one is so obivious to me cus I have crossed that very bridge at least a dozen times in Eurotruck 2. Any Eurotruck player would have immediately recognised that brigde😂
i mean u said it yourself but thats really important, most old houses in kaliningrad especially in the border regions where they werent teared down to build blocks for more housing opportunities will be prussian houses, so if u think ur in russia but the houses are german its gonna be there most likely
You can play against JackSucksGeography but you give him table of poles, trees and road lines 😅
First time seeing places I’ve been to in your vid! (Kaliningrad-Lithuania border)
You should definitely visit Kaliningrad one day
That Russia/Lithuania round had me screaming lmao
haha, was waiting for the dutch/belgian one😅
Vignettes are the right to ride on the highways and you must have them on all Lithuanian higways (1 to 18).
Nice video!
super good video
So Lithuania. It is ‘from A1 to A18’ you need to use vinguette
1:11 Bro just roasted my country😭😭😭😭
15:30 the Truck had writings in portuguese yessirrrrr, “Transporte Nacional e Internacional” “e”instead of “y”.
That is the sale point for vignettes (as stated in the thing) not the road name! In european countries you need vignette to drive on highways (the A roads)
Ruse sounding like Gruuze is pain to my ears
13:03 "this immediately reminds me of germany. oh, we have a russian flag"
that's probably because the "P" of "Prussia" fell off the sign during WWII ;)
New subscriber here, and yeah... I'm kind of excited for that kiss.
It would be awesome if you played with a polyglot translating every sign you see
nah 0:34 got me
I bet any czech including me would guess the 3rd location in like 5 seconds. I must have crossed the border there like 50 times in my life. But nonetheless very impressive stuff from you.
Fun map!
The border from the thumbnail is not in the video?? Scammed
Not proud to admit but here we go. I was 27 years old when I figured out countries actually have more than.. one.. border. (I thought each country had only ONE border with another country, I passed 5 borders.. 3 of them to the same country.. before learning it.) .. I don't know. Don't ask.
And yes I am saying I learned that last year. 🤦 Surprisingly enough I'm not American. I'm actually European.
It would be good if there was a link in the description, so people could have a go themselves
"This is Spanish"💀
Us brits 20 seconds in to the video: 😭😭
4:36 Zigzag questioning himself about this is so funny
Russian flag, adidas and sprite. Great time.
0:34 uhmmm sure….
I love red foot tortoise
Hello from gojira
I was yelling Kaliningrad at the screen...
The last one couldn't be correct just because there is no border control where you guessed.
Love it Nice
Romanian people that have been to the place in the video (here).
Damn I got clickbaited into watching the whole video for the part about the NL-BE border, I feel pretty betrayed
Right, it's pretty lame to use Baarle as clickbait in the thumbnail.
I love tortoise 🐢 ❤️
