Artists being exploited to create their art for next to nothing is one of the most consistent occurrences in all of human history. It's a combination of enjoying what they do and very little business sense that makes them such easy targets. True mastery of any art-form requires just as much time and effort as a medical or legal degree, and yet they are rarely treated with such respect. This is why artist unions are so vital. So-long as fresh artists continue to agree to slave wages because they don't know any better, studios won't have to worry about replacing the employees they burn through.
[Feel free to reply and suggest your own theories] it’s my first time watching this channel but damn, this stuff was deep as hell. I thought it was mostly ARG till I read 2:48 ‘s sections for Who and Those. Then after the script + reading through the linked article, went back to re-watch the vid. Dunno if this was the whole point, this is my take on the video. I see the parts past 2:20 as the video is raising awareness for the animation corporations scandals on their salaries. Or maybe for big companies as a whole. If I’m right, thank you for such an amazing video and for raising awareness for a fairly unknown topic such as this. Edit: Especially sections 2:49, 2:53, and 2:59 seem very important. With 3:09 having the entire thing loop back around to the same manager our MC experienced. Because, that’s just how the apple rots. After time, devolving from its original beautiful form to its counterpart. The counterpart being the manager. if you look closely at 2:59, the MC is running on film. More evidence of my current theory for the meaning Also with 3:09, like the corrupt CEO said earlier, time passed by like nothing. 30 years without even knowing how they got there. And throughout all that time following the same way the apple rots. Pt. 2: I believe the “corporations” are: Wolf, Rogerie, Sam, Archibald, and Owl. Symbolizing the 5 companies in the scandal: Disney, DreamWorks, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and Sony. The songs in order are: My folks place, New in town, Quarterly reports, Underbelly, Network Inn, Dog Blood, March, BaBaBa, and finally Bitter Acceptance. Symbolizing the path the apple rots in, the apple being the person. {My Folks Place} MC is pushed out into the world having to go out on their own. {*New in town*} MC has just gotten into the job industry, Rogerie and Archibald symbolizing the hawks (Corporations) trying to get them fresh, since they’re vulnerable. {*Underbelly*} The dark side of the companies. Polmy symbolizing the bribery of companies to keep trade secrets. The “TRAFIK” people is obviously symbolizing human trafficking. Polmy then picks up “coke”, before bribing you not to tell anybody. However after this tricking you, by telling you to go visit the Pubb, which has the song name as Network Inn. The hiring section, where there’s a recruiter for a corrupt corporation he works for. {*Network Inn*} Vinilliam I’m not sure on. He tells you he knows you, giving examples, then asking you if you know of “Stock Jauber (Jack Stauber probably) and Aiming Child (dunno this one)”. Harold I’m still not sure on, he seems to be the recruiter / middleman for the corporations. The MC asks Harold for “dog blood”. I’m not fully sure what Dog Blood symbolizes for, but it seems to be having a taste of a good life, at a high price. Sam then says he’ll pay for it. The MC then says they can afford it, however Sam interjects saying they can’t. This symbolizes the mind games corporations play with their employees, tricking them into thinking they need them to get whatever they want. Without their corporation they’re working for, and without that uniform, the MC wouldn’t be able to do anything because the corporation doesn’t pay enough for them. Sam then tricks the MC again by telling them they can get a “promotion”. Although this promotion, is in the favor of Sam and not in the MC. The MC then drinks the “dog blood”, initializing their control into Sam’s hands. Sam being, the corporation. The MC being “drugged” by Sam’s control. The MC then fully starts the phase of control, drifting their mind into nothing, and going “autopilot” while time passes by. {*March*} Sam and Owl meet up, Owl trying to persuade Sam into working for him. Sam knowing what he’s doing, instead proposes that they underpay the MC and shows Owl his plan. Owl and Sam then work together to squeeze the MC into as much work as possible with his weekend suggestion. {*BaBaBa*} The two corporations then laugh over their success. The starting photo of their gigantic size symbolizing their monopoly and control over the city. The MC states they’re losing themselves, with blood under their mouth. The blood symbolizes the dog blood as the company keeps giving them a taste of the true thing, controlling the MC as they lose themself and lose understanding. The two parts of MC’s thought process then appear, conflicting eachother. In the next section we realize that pink = trying to make sense, and blue = true feeling, Conflicting each other. I’m not fully sure on the Those and Who, texts, they mean something as a poem it seems but I can’t understand it. As the “Those” (right) text depicts though, it must be because I’m not staying to read long enough. Next thing the MC knows, their friends are gone, even though the MC thought they were just here a second ago. The MC then tries to make sense of simple things in the next scene, but can’t, so it doesn’t. Symbolizing the MC’s thought process being rot to the point of not trying to understand anymore. Just accepting, that this, is how, the apple rots. Or how their life, goes. and finally, {*Bitter Acceptance*} The MC has accepted everything, and. forgotten who they are (as evident by their name being crossed out). They have accepted time’s passing, having 30 years happen without knowing how they ever got there. The MC bitterly, but finally, accepts how the apple, being their life, rots, or goes on. I don’t understand the entire thing since I’m still not old enough for a job legally but this is my take :) Thank you for listening :) If you’d like to talk privately about this, heccin#2714

To break down the scene of Vinilliam, it's very obviously Andy venting about getting compared to other animators so much, with Vinilliam representing the view on Andy Land's viewerbase. The character has a less than appealing design and is smoking, the voice is one of the stock dumb voices, Sylvia shows clear annoyance from the scenario in a way that seems like they represent Andy Land, Vinilliam only ever talks about other animators, and worst of all, the comparisons hold *next to no water* when you think about it. Seriously, what the hell is the connection with Jack Stauber and Aimkid? Looking into this scene, I can very clearly see why you're frustrated by these people. I suppose comparison is human nature, but it doesn't have to be done out loud. Man, I typed a text block disecting one short scene that has zero bearing on the plot or main message with information that has already been said 1000 times. Maybe I'm part of the problem after all.
One of the top comments of this video talked about wishing for a possible collab with ENA and Andy, and I think that's pretty cool how people gravitate towards similar things, or at least similar ideas of things.
Holy shit holy shit holy shit so fucking coooool I can't describe the feeling these animations give me. Pure... something. Like it's itching the back of my psyche. Cool shit.
God this is awesome. I don't think I fully understand every single artistic decision, but from what I've gathered, this is something strictly out of your heart. There's so much though put into this, it's honestly amazing, as depressing as it is. Definitely makes me want to go buy some merch from you. The only critique I have, would be aimed towards 2:49 . I don't think you should be regarding everyone who doesn't respect art as those things... People are different. There will always be things we don't realize. We're all living in this mess of colors, stimulation and thoughts, there's only make out so much of it all. But I repeat: fantastic work! Abso-fucking-lutely fantastic work.

I can't quite pin down the exact meaning of this, but I think I get the idea
@@extrapathos I think it's simply a message differentiating people who appreciate and respect art, and those who don't. Not too sure myself but wanted to share it here to open up discussion. Probably just a bit of a secret message for the people curious enough to pause and read and fully appreciate the work put into animation.
@@DivineBanana good point
@@extrapathos It’s kinda a message of hope for me. There will always be people who want to truly be alive, and those people will see me. That kinda stuff
this is truly brilliant. it's weird how, eventually, you literally wrote what is the video about on screen and people are still "haha ENA reference" on comments. as you wrote yourself, "those who are alive are alive". i already apreciated your work a lot, and now i do it even more.
Congratulations friend, you got the meaning
people consider everything to be everything else.
literally just got into pursuing a game design degree. this vid is one hell of an eye opener, but extremely welcome to know. it hits because i was originally like "haha i TOO know those fellow content creator references!", but then it gets to the harsh reality of it, realizing you could become soulless with only a style *similar* to that of other content creators with ultimately no originality (ABSOLUTELY NOT THE CASE FOR ANDY LAND- they've been iconic for me throughout)- and then there's the tinyurl link! color me terrified!
my only comfort in this is knowing that there are the "who"s in your audience who will try their damnest to get if you have a message to show, but, dang this is a lot to take in. bless andy land's vision and packtion's music for such a good video holy heck
You missed the entire point.

Subtle detail appreciation: The stuff you do with dialogue boxes/animating text is amazing. Pancake house was very memorable in this, but it’s great here too. A video game with you designing the text engine would turn out awesome for sure. Dust didn’t really show that off, though it was really cool. Looking forward to your future endeavors!
Wow I love this. The variety of character design and voices that fit then is astounding.
Nice stuff. Strikes at the heart; I'm going for game design and I'm glad people are speaking up about these things.
Your videos are always a fresh carbonated drink at 2am
Hey, your animations are pretty good! You should *totally* apply to one of the big name animation studios, where you're sure to be offered a competitive wage!
Wow, the music was awesome! And it really had some story to it! You really did a good job on putting the viewer in to perspective of the character, great work!

[Feel free to reply and suggest your own theories]
it’s my first time watching this channel
but damn, this stuff was deep as hell.
More evidence of my current theory for the meaning
Also with 3:09, like the corrupt CEO said earlier, time passed by like nothing.
Or how their life, goes.
and finally, {*Bitter Acceptance*}
The MC has accepted everything, and. forgotten who they are (as evident by their name being crossed out). They have accepted time’s passing, having 30 years happen without knowing how they ever got there. The MC bitterly, but finally, accepts how the apple, being their life, rots, or goes on.
I don’t understand the entire thing since I’m still not old enough for a job legally but this is my take :)
Thank you for listening :)

The amount of work you put in your videos is insane. independent creators don't have it easy, but keep doing what you love doing! Your dedication really inspires me.

Really sad to think about how garbage the industry is. Amazing animation Andy
oh god this video hits different when you actually pause.
No, you aren't.
i thought thought it was rule of thumb NOT to compare artists, that it’s somewhat disrespectful and all that.
I actually needed the context. The salt in the comments in general is really disheartening.
One of the top comments of this video talked about wishing for a possible collab with ENA and Andy, and I think that's pretty cool how people gravitate towards similar things, or at least similar ideas of things.

The only critique I have, would be aimed towards 2:49 . I don't think you should be regarding everyone who doesn't respect art as those things... People are different.
