Huh, your totally right that Kajiu No 8 is kinda an combination of Pacific Rim, Parasite and Attack on Titan. At first I was confused with Attack on Titan but then realized it was the MC able to turn into a monster similar to the monsters 👻 in their respective verses.
The Kaiju #8 manga is really good. Glad to hear the anime is out and doing it justice
Facts. I currently caught up with the manga, on chapter 105 can’t wait for the next chapter
The background detail is astounding. There is a detail that most people missed in the background, myself included until my friend pointed it out to me, the news broadcast that shows the Kaiju fighting team parading through the streets, in reality when that happened Kafka was walking down the side walk, but in the news broadcast story, the news station purposefully edited him out of the shot. It really drives home how much copium Kafka is huffing, when it comes how much the cleanup crew matters to society vs the fighting crew.
I love that the English dub drops straight away, wish Crunchy did that for everything.

i think it was a creative choice or something, in the dub they said arigato, in the sub they said thank you, in the dub they said bento box, in the sub they said lunchbox, both were released and good on the same day.
It seems Kaiju No. 8 also dropped its international dubs as well. Never in my life I would've imagine an anime would be released in Neutral Spanish the same day as it premiered in Japan. Though to be fair, movies and TV shows have been receiving day 1 dubs when they're released in international markets for many years

I watched the live stream of it on CR in the US. The ad breaks were there but it was things like Kaiju warning signs or things to be aware of. The Stop drop roll and chomp one was pretty funny. It didn't feel too disruptive to the show flow to me.
I really enjoyed this one. Good action, humor, and the story seems in line with other Kaiju-type shows/movies. Only a couple of times where it seemed to freeze up while the audio kept playing (Japanese audio English sub). Not sure on the subtitles accuracy, though. There were also times where the subs were missing for a few seconds. I'm not fluent in Japanese but I was still able to follow and enjoy. I was going to do another watch, maybe English dub.

I loved the first episode of Kajiu No 8, especially how well they do in the immersing of the viewers into the anime. I didn't have any problems with the music and to me it perfectly suited it!
Last month checked out the manga of it and got hooked on it and currently on chapter 84 of 104. So far they have done a near perfect adaptation of the manga into anime. Kafka is 32 years old. Its awesome that they are dropping the English dub of the anime at the same time as the Japanese version.
I do really like how this anime is very much aimed at a older anime/manga audience. Since unlike vast majority of MC anime/manga is around middle age so making Kafka very reliable to me being 35 years old.
another one with backgrounds that stuck out to me was Dragon Raja.
Great episode. The main protagonist is funny. I want to check out the manga. This could be the best new anime of the spring season.
Haven’t started to read the manga yet, bought the first few volumes but just haven’t got to it yet.
Kafka is older than Mina, we know this because when she says she's going to join the defense force, he says she's just a kid, and she does *not* retort that they are the same age, but rather retorts that he is still in grade school. I would've guessed 2 years gap, given the conversation and the child character designs. But... if they are sticking to the source material it'll be more than that. The age gap on the wiki seems implausible to me given what we've been shown, but sometimes these things just don't make sense. Probably better not to think too hard while watching an action show anyway.
I’m pretty sure Kafka 33 and Mina is 31 in the manga
@@Jay_BeWilld That would make sense to me, but wikipedia puts them at 32 and 27... but I haven't read the manga or light novel so I don't know, maybe they got it wrong?
Also Kafka can't start at 33, they just said in the first episode that the defense force is extending the recruitment age to 32, so he needs to be 32 or younger for that news to have mattered to him. (He could be 33 at wherever the manga is now though, of course.)

Great first episode imho. I really enjoyed the action's art and animation for this premiere, and I thought the English dub voice acting was done very well. I'm looking forward to the next episode!

LOL......Attack on Kaiju,. Did they get the AOT studio people to do the kaiju fight scene?
hehe, nah. I think people call it that because similar to Attack on Titan, the MC becomes what everyone hates/hunts.
