TheNextDecade244 « the only covenant survive unchanged, undefeated, uncorrupted through the ages » Behold the power of fan service ^^ (Also that’s not entirely true, in DS3 you can invade as a sunbro, so it’s a little bit corrupted at least)
In the end, Dark Souls is a game about hope. The kind of unbreakable hope that only grows in those who've been stomped into the ground so many times that they no longer fear failure, no longer believe that they can be kept from what they've set their minds on.
I was among the first of the warriors of sunlight. In our day there was a genuine joy and hope when you suffered another defeat and saw that glowing golden sign on the ground. Or you timidly approached an unknown boss fight and were immediately comforted by that same golden glow. Warriors of sunlight would stand and fight with you over and over no matter how often you failed they would be right back at the start to face the same again. When you won they would send you cheerful and celebratory messages, then as you moved on they went back for the next new player behind you. I loved my time in service to the sun.
@@maddieinglasses580 my exact reaction if I saw his summon sign at the final battle of DS3, glowing twice as bright as a normal summon sign, almost as blinding as the sun...only requirement would be to get every sunlight covenant rank
“I’ll be there to keep you strong. Side by side is where we belong.” This is the be best part of this whole song. Describes the Sun Bro mentality perfectly.
Kevin Denis Kevin Denis When the odds aren’t what they seem You’ve got a friend to watch your back and guide the way Mistakes that set you back too far I’ve set a sign just where you are I’ve struggled as well, but I won’t let you die today.
I only became a Dark Souls fan last year (A friend of mine, who is a diehard fan, hoisted Dark Souls Remastered upon me when it came out, and I grew to love it), and was inevitably introduced to the music scene of the fandom, as well (By the same friend). This song in particular really resonated with me, and, when I got married this year, me and my wife had our first dance at the reception to Incandescent. I suggested it simply as a placeholder, since I loved the message of 'Standing together to face the unknown, even when all hope is lost'. She's grown to love the track, too, and is glad we went with it. So thanks, Aviators! And thanks, Solaire, for being the inspiration behind this song!
This song talks about Solaire and the Warriors of Sunlight, but for me is for the fellowship when you play Dark Souls with a friend, the moments of joy of killing a boss, fighting against invanders, dealing with the hazardous zones, many other white phantoms willing to help you out a long the way. I played the first Dark Souls because of friends downloaded when it was free on Xbox, I never had that many beautiful memories, those were some really good days I will never forget them. This song made me legit cry.
You know a lot of people talk about Dark Souls being hard, the atmosphere being oppressive and grim, but few mention how the game follows a strong theme of hope. You're immediately thrown into a harsh world, though almost every NPC (except maybe Crestfallen) tells you to push forward, and more importantly, to not go hollow. This ties in well with the Hollowing itself, where people are more likely to hollow if they "give up" or lose their purpose. You, the player, never truly see your character go hollow since you never truly give up unless you turn the game off. It's refreshing to see a song that focuses on the hope reflected in the game and clinging to one of the few beacons of light in a dark world.
Even now, years after finding it for the first time, I have no shame in admitting this song brings me to tears. Shine on, Warriors of Sunlight. Always and forever.
It can be difficult to shine at times, life can be so rough, but this song reminds me that no matter what there are always going to be people who have your back and that keeps my hope burning bright. Praise the Sun and let your light shine forever friends!
once a sunbro always a sunbro. This song truly captures the feeling of unity behind the covenant and the aspirations of all those chosen undeads fighting together for each to link the flame in their own version of Lordran. While I love your nostalgic and dark songs like Angel of Dark this one just sparks a sense of glory and greatness in my heart, an incandescent flame that will burn to show the way for anyone who may need my help. Thanks for another wonderful song, Avi. You are truly an inspiration for us all.
Can’t believe we managed to all come together for this. A beautiful song for these times, reminding us all that we need to stand together. Thank you for letting us participate in this. It’ll forever be one of my proudest moments.
This makes me want to play a dnd character, not because they are seeking some great redemption or revenge, but they left home to be a hero, to be a light to people trapped in this dark world They are good simply because it is right
whoa I’m in an Avi song that’s so coooool God, this song brings nothing but euphoria. Love your vocals, love everyone else’s vocals, love the fadeout, love the instrumentation... everything about this is incredible. Awesome stuff ❤️ And congrats to everyone else who made it into this song! (I think there’s more people than in Dystopian Fiction!) EDIT: Oh, one more thing. The Where I Belong reference is so good! (And I take partial credit for giving Avi the idea 😏)
Oh my... I remember the first time I played DS1. A friend introduced it to me in a moment of my life I felt desperate in so many ways (depression). I was enjoying the game, but every invasion I got, with people being jerks (giant dad phantom has invaded), killing me, pointing down, trolling (I was clearly a noob), made me a bit more frustrated and sad. When I reached Anor Londo, I felt miserable; the atmosphere was of sorrow and loneliness, which felt terrible at the time. However, when I met Solaire, I started smiling. It was like I was alive again! Since then, I decided to help people in every way I could in Dark Souls, as a good adherent of the Lord of Sunlight
That's Solaire for ya. He's so grossly incandescent the sun pales in comparison, tbh Dark Souls wouldn't be nearly as good as it is without him and the Warriors of Sunlight
A friend of mine, a person who has become something of a younger brother to me, found our friendship through this series. This song, in all its magnificence and glory, reminds me of how we faced those challenges together, and have done ever since. We continue to listen to this song since its release. We battled the forces of Lordran together, and have continued to fight side-by-side. This song will continue to remind me of all the times we spent yelling, crying, and cheering together, and of all that we overcame. If you ever read this, Liam, little bro, I love you man. Thanks for being one of the best friends I could ever ask for. And I hope you too, as Solaire did, become something truly Incandescent.
You know, after coming back to this at the end of the series. I've realized something, at the end. The warriors of sunlight made their own truth. Without the firstborn, without Gwyn, or Kath, or the first flame. Without any sort of cosmic power justifying it. They all did become the sun in a way. I don't know of a single player who didn't cry for solaire or have a moment of reaching out for a golden glowing summoning mark with a big happy smile. He was just a man, they were all just players. But... in the end they built their own truth through jolly cooperation.
That callback to 'Where I Belong' gives me chills every time. Had a lot of fun joining the crowd chorus for this one, just like with Dystopian Fiction. Thank you for letting us be a part of this beautiful, saxy anthem!
It's the section from 3:38 to 4:17 It starts with Where I Belong's chord progression, then the vocals kick in with the exact same melody of that song. The lyrics have been changed to fit the theme of Incandescent, apart from the lines "Spent years waiting for the time, I'd come to see the truth behind", and the last lines "I want to stay to keep you strong, Side by side is where we belong" are almost identical to the original lines "I want to stay to keep you strong, By your side is where I belong".
What will you do at the end of the world? This question has many answers and it's interesting how the covenants in Dark Souls seem to have different answers. Way of White and Princess' Guard want to protect various gods and serve their will, Chaos Servants want to heal the Fair Lady, Darkmoon Blades want to punish sinners, Darkwraiths want to rob humanity and so on. Perhaps the only ones who I unironically think would just respond "Help people" are the Warriors of Sunlight. Solaire being representative of what they do, but the whole covenant and the community born around it, just a bunch of people intending to help those lost or stuck in Dark Souls's more difficult parts. Even years later, I still ran into WoS signs in the Remastered version. Simply beautiful.
I found Aviators less than 2 weeks ago, and this week, he became my first Patreon person i have ever supported. I love the music and Talent you bring to the world. Amazing, I wish more people would support you! Good Job and Keep it up!
I'll always remember Dark Souls Prepare to Die edition, gifted to me by a friend of mine who lost his battle with depression and is no longer with us. I'll always help whomever I can, in his stead, dressed in glorious incandescence.
This song came out so well, it’s amazing! Thanks for giving all of us in the discord a chance to be in the crowd, the song wouldn’t be the same without the crowd.
I am a simple Deity. I saw Solaire on the thumbnail and knew it would be perfect. Also the line "Mistakes that set you back too far, I've set a sign just where you are. I've struggled as well, but I won't let you die today" made me burst into tears. That struck a memory deep inside. He came through for me and struck the final blow on Gwyn just as I was about to die. I miss him so much. I would love it if in DS3 the developers edited the game so Knight Solaire's summon sign would appear right before Gael.
Taucron Heretic Same. In DS1, it’s the job of the sunbros to keep kindness and honor intact in a PvP meta where one-shot glitch builds are combined with down-pointing gank squads. Praise the sun brothers \[T]/

Who would have ever thought that a game franchise would be able to resonate with our feelings as individuals and as a community to this level. It's truly beautiful
The Sun Bro's symbolize human compassion which is no matter what anyone says still one of our strongest traits. Along with the will to never give up. And this song depicts it perfectly.
It's amazing how anyone can find a happy ending, or anything happy in general, in these games. "I want to stay to keep you strong, Side by side is where we belong," that packs a hard punch to the gut.
There's something special about this song, When I'm depressed and I mean *really* depressed listening to the chorus always makes me feel that little less alone. Thank you for making this it means a lot to me.
After listening to this for a while, it finally clicked with me. Kind of like how the entire franchise just one day clicked with me. That no matter your struggle or burden, there's a Sunbro out there who's been through it before you and is waiting to put their sign down and help you become grossly incandescent.
Ok, so i've been listening to this song for over almost a year. And i was like "oh i really enjoy it". But for those few days i've become interested in this story. And now i understand the lyrics. So deep and peaceful. And now i'm gonna cry a little because Solaire's story was really touching for me
I did not go into Dark Souls with the assumption that everybody got the same exact introduction just because it KIND OF told me so and this comment section is such a trip. Awesome game.
The soul-moving songs are your forté. Please keep doing what you do. "Let There Be Fire" was poetically near-perfection and heavy with emotion, just as this one is heavy with Hope.

Love this song so much, been one of my favorites since it was released. And I just listened to it at full volume as I beat Ornstein and Smough for the first time. And of course, I couldn't have done it without Solaire's help. This song always brings a smile to my face, and something about that moment just felt really good.
After having gotten plenty good enough to beat the game while only dying a scant couple times, I still summon the jolly sunbro often, if only to see his golden incandescence! Praise the sun!
OMG I LOVE THIS, I've been reading while listening to music for a couple hours now. But this song forced me check what it was called, I had to add this to my main playlist. THIS IS AMAZING!
You know, it kinda just hit me that the only (intended) way to save Solaire is to help ease another’s suffering. One good deed encourages others to do the same, and even if that deed can’t amount to anything in the end significant in the end, it’s what he would’ve done had he found her first.
I will always remember the sunbros from all of my many playthroughs and will live on in my memories, even though the multiplayer function of the game was killed. Rest In Peace solaire and his sunbros
The feeling i have right now is the same i always have when i am able to protect and carry a fellow comrade through a harsh and tiring battle. This truly is the hymn of the Warriors of Sunlight.
I just noticed that line "Side by side is where I belong". Amazing work Aviators, and that song "Where I belong" is also one of my favorites. Your music still suprise me sometimes
Solaire is one of the few souls characters that never goes hollow. At least if you kill that damn bug. He is the true chosen undead, he was able to make it through all the monsters until he found the first flame. His sun. Truly an amazing man. He isn't even a legendary warrior, he is just a man of faith who focusses on helping his fellow undead. He doesn't have magical armor or weapons, just faith and strength.
I want to stay to keep you strong, Side by side is where we belong. The most meaningful line for me.. Am I the only one who loves when Aviators slips in these nods to his older songs?
I always love it. He does this every now and then and it's especially meaningful if you have been following his music for the better part of the last decade.
Thank you so much Aviators for making this song! As a souls fan for many years hearing a song for the knight of jolly cooperation warmed my heart! Thank you so much!

From this day forth, this will be my theme song and when I make my first million, I will remember Solaire. Jolly fellow. Plus, we need this kind of music in our lives. Positive 80s synthpop.
What an awesome project. An awesome composer gives to his fans, and the fans give back, rinse and repeat, in a way we don't normally see in music. Oh. Jolly co-operation.
Christopher Rill you’re confusing conscripts and penal battalions in which case the penal battalions deserved it given that those kulaks effectively starved their own country men by hoarding grain and effectively starving them (which is a big part of why the people starved and really do to a series of natural disasters and draughts couldn’t feed their people) so basically all that was happening they were putting greedy murderers to work if they died they got what they deserved if they took some fascist with them at least they were good for something
@@VailAn-Tek Comrade, I disagree heavily. What the soviet union did with sending in or even having penal battalions was wrong, quite wrong. Even if what you say is true, I highly doubt death should be the preffered punishment, one may even question how right it is to punish many of them in the first place. Take example the rich capitalist, many born in wealth, knowing nothing else, tuttored and indoctrinated to continue that accumulation and deempathized from their fellow man. In many cases, rehabilitation should be priority, as a punishment based system dosen't discourage crime and overall an eye for an eye makes the world blind.
"Forgive me Solaire, I wasn't patient enough. I'm sorry I couldn't get 30 humanities to save you. You taught me to always stay positive in this Dark and Depressing world. Look Solaire! Look at me now! I've grown, I'm not the same weak warrior that you've met back in the undead burg. Now I'm going to link the first flame, I'm going to link my own Sun.. No.. I'm going to link OUR Sun. May we meet again and embark on another Jolly Co-operation Solaire. Shine on, Jolly fellow." - My chosen undead at the sunlight altar while giving his last sunlight medal before fighting Gwyn
i know this is 3 years later.. but my man. you can genuinely save him as one of his own warriors of sunlight! it is quite difficult but if you do not speak to him in anor londo and rush through demon ruins you can go backwards through the passage, and before he does.. gather that bug to save him. then just return to him and talk to him!

In the end, Dark Souls is a game about hope. The kind of unbreakable hope that only grows in those who've been stomped into the ground so many times that they no longer fear failure, no longer believe that they can be kept from what they've set their minds on.
Yep
I was among the first of the warriors of sunlight. In our day there was a genuine joy and hope when you suffered another defeat and saw that glowing golden sign on the ground. Or you timidly approached an unknown boss fight and were immediately comforted by that same golden glow. Warriors of sunlight would stand and fight with you over and over no matter how often you failed they would be right back at the start to face the same again. When you won they would send you cheerful and celebratory messages, then as you moved on they went back for the next new player behind you. I loved my time in service to the sun.
Until they invade me and kick my ass :/

“I’ll be there to keep you strong. Side by side is where we belong.” This is the be best part of this whole song. Describes the Sun Bro mentality perfectly.

PRAISE THE SUN!
Now that is a story worthy of a Warrior of Sunlight.
That's precious.
Praise the sun, brother.
Praise sun brother!
Remember what Solaire once told you: You are grossly incandescent. Continue to be as such, I believe in you.
Who am I to be anything but flattered by this honor to be a part of this music just by striving for the grossly incandescent.
Praise the Sun !
\[T]/
Even now, years after finding it for the first time, I have no shame in admitting this song brings me to tears. Shine on, Warriors of Sunlight. Always and forever.
It can be difficult to shine at times, life can be so rough, but this song reminds me that no matter what there are always going to be people who have your back and that keeps my hope burning bright. Praise the Sun and let your light shine forever friends!
In a cold, dark, and uncaring world, even a little spark can make all the difference.
So happy to lend my small voice again
Your voice as soft as a ray of sunshine, has helped bring warmth to thousands of people, you have done us all proud. \[T]/
Praise the sun, for all of the bros now, and forever!
once a sunbro always a sunbro.
Shine on fellow sunbro
Yeah not to mention we have a THICC queen of sunlight
As soon as I saw Solaire I knew it would be perfect.
Who agrees?
So true.
I thought the samething
There are no words to describe how perfect he is.
A couple hundred people seem to agree.
Anyone who says Solaire is a bad character is objectively wrong.
DS fandom:
Expectation: “Ah yes, another demon god to add under my belt!”
Reality: “SOLLLAAAAIRRRREEEEE” *cries in undead*
I think we all would've gone hollow if it wasn't for Solaire and the Onion knights
Can’t believe we managed to all come together for this. A beautiful song for these times, reminding us all that we need to stand together.
Thank you for letting us participate in this. It’ll forever be one of my proudest moments.
Grayhoof thank you so much
One year has passed and still this comment is accurate...
This makes me want to play a dnd character, not because they are seeking some great redemption or revenge, but they left home to be a hero, to be a light to people trapped in this dark world
They are good simply because it is right
Right now i am going to play a paladin character inspired by Solaire that is also a singer. And yes, he will sing this.
Have you considered Oath of the Ancients Paladin? Because that's basically what they are. One of their tenents is literally "be the light."
whoa I’m in an Avi song that’s so coooool
God, this song brings nothing but euphoria. Love your vocals, love everyone else’s vocals, love the fadeout, love the instrumentation... everything about this is incredible. Awesome stuff ❤️
And congrats to everyone else who made it into this song! (I think there’s more people than in Dystopian Fiction!)
EDIT: Oh, one more thing. The Where I Belong reference is so good! (And I take partial credit for giving Avi the idea 😏)
Myotic Tesseract a good idea at that
\[T]/
I'm not going to lie, this song just brought me to tears.
me to bro
Same
Me too bro me too
You know, after coming back to this at the end of the series.
Henning A Could you maybe explain the "where I belong" callback? I don't get it 😭
Just listen to his song 'Where I Belong'. It's really obvious once you've heard it. ^_^
I heard, but what's it a callback to?
It's the section from 3:38 to 4:17
It starts with Where I Belong's chord progression, then the vocals kick in with the exact same melody of that song.
Its awesome to hear another song in this masterpiece. I love it!!!
I was in the crowd, WHOOOOOO
Praise the Sun Sunbro

This song came out so well, it’s amazing! Thanks for giving all of us in the discord a chance to be in the crowd, the song wouldn’t be the same without the crowd.
Electric Blue aviators has a discord? I'm ashamed that i didnt know this and feel hollow due to the fact i am not in it
FrozenFlashdrive Yep, Avi has a Discord and puts a link to it in the description of his videos.
Solaire was a sun for every dark souls player. So grossly incandescent in a dark and hostile place.
Sadly, I doubt they'll ever update the game again.
Gael: it's just shining there INCANDESCENTLY!!!
Always a joy when this shows back up in my recommendations.
I wear his armor shield and sword proudly in DS3, I never even point down unless the invader was being a jerk, or pointed down first.
Taucron Heretic Same. In DS1, it’s the job of the sunbros to keep kindness and honor intact in a PvP meta where one-shot glitch builds are combined with down-pointing gank squads. Praise the sun brothers \[T]/

Whenever you see that incandescent golden glow, you know you are in good hands. Even when pitted against you can count on that reddish-gold waiting by the side for you to kill your mobs, so that you may dual in jolly competition.
Who would have ever thought that a game franchise would be able to resonate with our feelings as individuals and as a community to this level. It's truly beautiful
Solaire is obviously the mascot, but this is the theme of sunbros everywhere. The Warriors of Sunlight have an anthem, and this makes me so jolly.
This is my absolute favorite song from the new album. Its so good and brings so much joy to my heart! I literally cannot give this enough love
Ok, so i've been listening to this song for over almost a year. And i was like "oh i really enjoy it". But for those few days i've become interested in this story. And now i understand the lyrics. So deep and peaceful. And now i'm gonna cry a little because Solaire's story was really touching for me
This song is really good, especially the chorus ! It warms my heart to hear something like this during bad times :)
Favourite song on the album, made even better to the reference to 'Where I belong' near the end.
Keep up the spectacular work, Avi!

I did not go into Dark Souls with the assumption that everybody got the same exact introduction just because it KIND OF told me so and this comment section is such a trip. Awesome game.
This game opens like "BONE MAN GOD FORMS" we're all just playing Advanced Gauntlet.

I want to stay to keep you strong,

The most meaningful line for me..
Am I the only one who loves when Aviators slips in these nods to his older songs?
I always love it. He does this every now and then and it's especially meaningful if you have been following his music for the better part of the last decade.
Thank you so much Aviators for making this song! As a souls fan for many years hearing a song for the knight of jolly cooperation warmed my heart! Thank you so much!

Comrade Vilord good one comrade vilord
Very funny
U go to gulag
Christopher Rill you’re confusing conscripts and penal battalions in which case the penal battalions deserved it given that those kulaks effectively starved their own country men by hoarding grain and effectively starving them (which is a big part of why the people starved and really do to a series of natural disasters and draughts couldn’t feed their people) so basically all that was happening they were putting greedy murderers to work if they died they got what they deserved if they took some fascist with them at least they were good for something
Comrade Vilord
Praise the sun, comrade
This... this is absolutely beautiful, Aviators. Thank you for sharing this masterwork with us.
I'll have this on loop every time I lay down my sign.
"Forgive me Solaire, I wasn't patient enough. I'm sorry I couldn't get 30 humanities to save you. You taught me to always stay positive in this Dark and Depressing world.

- When you helped me defeat the gargoyles and help me rang my first bell of awakening
- When we fought that Giant gross-looking dragon in the depths
- The struggles when we faced the infamous anor londo guardian
- When you ask me to become the heir of the sun
- And when we kill the centipede demon
I help you to find your own sun, but at what cost..
A song truly befitting probably my favorite character in gaming history. This song perfectly embodies the idea behind Solaire himself to me. A beacon of hope in an often dark and unforgiving world, proving that no matter how dire the circumstances, people will come together to overcome the hardships of life. I did not think a song would make me cry so much. I cannot help but imagine the heroes of my story, united to act as a shining beacon of hope for those who are being consumed/ or live in a realm where the darkness has devoured the sun, and that darkness from an ancient evil is seeping into other realms...
