You're quite right, the Christmas decorations are largely aimed at wealthy foreign tourists. I moved to London in 1978 and I loved the Tree Trim Shop. It opened in late October and was much bigger than it is now. They had plain glass baubles in every colour of the rainbow and they were very reasonably priced. You could get shaped glass ornaments at good prices as well! They sold traditional Swedish decorations and wooden candlesticks. You could by little toadstools that you could wire onto the Christmas tree branches. I bought a beautiful glass clip-on lamp post! They had Christmas tree candle holders and Christmas tree candles. There were beautifully decorated trees everywhere. So much of the stuff was affordable. Now, there's too many ugly, over-decorated baubles, and the price of glass ornaments is outrageous. It's such a shame. I know it looks great to those who don't remember it how it used to be, but it's a shadow of it's former self. Selfridges is the same. It used to be great, but has gone downhill too.
I remember buying decorations in Woolworth’s 12 baubles for 1/11 pence in the 60’s! and I still have 10 of them. Yes decorations were more realistically priced and really depicted the true meaning of Christmas, now it’s tacky.☹️
Aww, thank you! I’m so happy you were looking forward to it! Harrods at Christmas is always so magical. 🎄✨ I appreciate your support and can’t wait to share more festive videos with you! 🎅🎁
Yes the prices there are outrageous.. The trick is to get a few ‘expensive’ ones so that you feel happy that you’ve got something special , and space them at the front , and then bulk out the rest of the tree with cheap baubles from elsewhere.. It works every time ....Happy Christmas !
Oo just looking at the teacup ornaments and thought you could use real teacups! You buy second hand teacups at a thrift shop and tie them on the tree with ribbons 🙂
I love harrods Christmas shop and have gifted myself a few baubles in the past, many of which are still on sale now, Christmas is my favourite time of the year and my obsession isn’t waining, yes their expensive but if you look after them you can get many years out of them especially if you stick to a traditional colour scheme, I wish I could post my pictures of both of my trees
Sounds like we have that in common, our love for Christmas! I brought a few decorations from Harrods last year, I think I'll gradually grow my collection. I wish you could share your Christmas trees too! 🎄
@@emilylondon my sister and I are having our annual Sister trip in London this year! We find your videos are right up our Alley! Thank you for the content we will be binging!!
Many ornaments I want. I'll be in London in november, will do some shoping. I bought a 9FT christmas tree two years ago becaus I have so many ornaments. Greetings from Montréal.
Hello from England 😀 Wow! A 9ft Christmas tree, I'm jealous! 😅 I hope you have an amazing time when you visit. I'll be sharing more Christmas videos and London experiences soon which may give you some extra trip inspiration 😀
I didn’t think some of the prices were not too bad, I do love the afternoon tea ornament you bought but I cannot remember how much it was. That ornament doesn’t scream Christmas at you I thought, but a good choice. I do love the Noah bear too but I wish you had said approximately how big it was. Thanks for the shopping trip xx
The Noah bear was 34cm at £40 but they did have larger sizes too. Thanks, I'm pleased with it, I like to show afternoon teas and have shared a review of the Harrods afternoon tea so felt it was perfect for me 😀 It was £30 🎄
Crazy, ridiculous prices, for sure. I purchase my Xmas decorations after Xmas during the sales when they are heavily discounted, up to 70- 90% off. Hello from Australia.
Hello from England! I lived in Australia for a few years, what state or territory are you in? Also great tip about purchasing decorations in the sales!
I’m sorry since harrods was sold to Saudi s the have ruined it they made it to clinical they took away it’s historical charm now it’s over priced tat so glad fourtnum and masons and libertys stayed the same even selfridges lost its charm
Christmas is far too commercialised these days. When I was a child in the forties we’d make all our decorations. Paper chains, lanterns, stars for the real Christmas tree. No plastic ones then. It was far more Christmassy than today.

As a rabid anti-capitalist this is the only way I can visit Harrods without compromising my principles. Thanks!
You're welcome
I'd like to know what proportion of Christmas stock is actually made in the UK? Anyone know?
Great question! I don't know, does anyone else?
None!
China
nice stuff but no way are they worth the price that they are selling them for

You probably get this a lot, but omg you and Taylor Swift could be sisters! You look so much alike!
@@acrossthecountyline thank you ☺️
Who calls ‘Welcome rings’ wreaths? I always thought wreaths are for the cemetery and a welcome ring on the door, am I wrong?
In the U.K they are known as Christmas Wreaths. Nos disrespect to the dead intended.
Thank you @fedupwelsh7211 for explaining ☺️
Never ever heard the term "welcome ring" (and it sounds like somebody trying to describe an object they don't remember the name of), they are wreaths.
Some beautiful decorations, but far too overpriced. The Range is more my budget.
Where are the customers!? Is Harrods out of fashion?
I just timed it perfectly and I try not to capture other people in the videos where possible even if it takes me longer to film for you 😀
Some people will say anything for a like honestly Taylor swift !
Who buys those..it looks like a room full of tat. Some much nicer decorations in high street shops and a lot cheaper too
Thanks for your comment. It’s always good to keep an eye out for deals or maybe find similar items elsewhere for a better price!
Welc

Viel zu teuer.
Soo expensive.. very expensive…
The Card says "Holiday" because in America, we can't say Merry Christmas because it's christian . I am happy that you still say Christmas
That makes a lot of sense! Thank you ☺️
A normal person is never to pay those prices
