    The climbing surprises me. Usually a high pivot mullet bike is the opposite of good climbing bike.

    Sometimes a bike just fits you right, there are literally hundreds of different makes and models and sizes out there and this one seems to fit you just right! I think some of your success on clearing those obstacles is you're really just getting better, honestly. The drivetrain on this is very similar to other bikes you have, and if they have similar grip in the tires you might surprise yourself in what you can do now. Geometry and setup matter a lot, but really for a low speed climb it's mostly you, my friend, not the bike!

      No doubt about it. I'm guessing 90% of riders couldn't climb that. He's better on tech than he realizes, and he's pretty good at hitting jumps and drops too.

    I would love to see a comparison between the bikes you have, Eminent, slash, remedy, fuel ex, pros & cons. I can see you just let yourself go over the rocks with the slash, I hope you got some armor when you do that, because to fall over the rocks is not nice. Nice riding vid man

    • @topspot4834
      @topspot4834 5 місяців тому

      You don't wanna wear armor on that if you can ride like Matt. It's too restrictive, bulky and hot. The tradeoff is you'll feel and ride better without it, which lowers you chances of crashing.

    • @flrn6233
      @flrn6233 5 місяців тому

      @@topspot4834 Knee pads, and especially ebows and gloves are key in crashes befause is the first thing you put as a barrier. And the rocks are terrible for crashes. I have friends that wear even chest guard on the rocks. If you ride very easy trails, it's ok, but soon or later you are going to fall and you are going to learn that protections are a must. I ride motorcycles too and people that go out with shirt and snikers are the newbies, waiting to get hit.

    How much time do you spend adjusting the shock? Some people will adjust the pressure and rebound after every ride or even need ride until the get just the right settings for the bike. It might take them a wee lk to get the bike just how they like it. If you are just going with the stock settings your review might have more to do with the settings than the bike itself. I'll bet the Fuel would climb better than the slash if the suspension was optimized

    Floyd hill is not a real climb. It’s basically a blue rated climb.
    Honestly there’s more technical trails in the front range.
    Bergen peak, belcher hill, cub creek, chimney way.
    Again no disrespect but stoping before climbing a feature and just do that
    specific feature takes 10 seconds or less.
    A good climbing bike has to be comfortable on long rides, most people doesn’t stop every 20 feet to do a feature…way too much bike for Floyd hill like i can climb those features in a hardtail.
    Good luck carrying two different tubes in case of a flat.
    If you want to make it a 29er,
    buy a new wheel, tire and link adapter
    This bike is just too much work…for something that could be good for a bike park but I won’t spend money on something that can only enjoy 3 months a year.

    • @mrvwbug4423
      @mrvwbug4423 9 місяців тому +2

      You don't need 2 different tubes on a mullet, 29er tubes will work in 27.5. Floyd might not be the toughest climb on the front range, but it's technical enough to test out a bike's climbing ability. And the sluice is about the best "test track" for a bike around as it has a little bit of everything and has lines that range from spicy blue to serious double black. That this bike climbs as well as it does seems to disprove the "park bike only" claim. I was even surprised by Matty's experience with the Slash, usually high pivot bikes don't pedal well.

    • @user-uc5iw3ml5s
      @user-uc5iw3ml5s 9 місяців тому +1

      @@mrvwbug4423the sluice is a trail that can be done either with a trail bike.
      If you buy this slash just for the sluice then you need help.
      29er into 27.5 is not recommended everyone knows this.
      Good luck going let’s say 15 miles plus rides in this thing.
      But saying that is a climbing machine is very misleading, super uncomfortable.
      He probably just did one loop from the parking lot to the sluice. We know people do more than that in regular rides.
      Idk for whom this bike is for but it doesn’t make sense at all.
      It’s weird, all extra work comes with it and mullet only?
      Leave that to the pros, normal 9-5 people dont break records dh.
      Much less climbing this bike is overrated
