    Nice!
    Keeping the same tapered leg as the flat-fronts might be adding to the frump, rather than helping? The vintage version would probably be loose all the way down, giving a really straight silhouette; invisible calves. Loose at the thigh but tapering to the ankle maybe inevitably leaves either a little daiper-i-ness if you start the taper high, or hammer-pants-i-ness if you start the taper low.

    • @CorneliusQuiring
      @CorneliusQuiring  4 роки тому +1

      You are right, I hadn't considered that either. I definitely don't want to be wearing a diaper. They could also look like those medieval time ballon pants. which we don't want.
      I will consider this with the next version ... if there are some. :)

    Here's a video idea - 18th century highwaisted dropfront breeches, BUT... ...and here's the kicker. Out of blue denim. Old shapes meet the iconic and modern fabrics. Trendsetting AND potentially costube viral..... 😉 ....not to mention, that I'm dying to make a pair for myself, but I is too dumb to make them, without someone telling me how to. Duh.😇😁

    • @CorneliusQuiring
      @CorneliusQuiring  4 роки тому +1

      Oh my, you just may be onto something here. Why not fully lean into this vintage thing?
      Really though, you got me with the going costube viral thing. UA-cam has been recommending historic fashion channels to me lately and they're doing amazing numbers wise ... so we'd both be getting something out of this. Wha could go wrong?!

    • @danieln2421
      @danieln2421 4 роки тому +1

      @@CorneliusQuiring Exactly! 😇😁 I've always LOVED the contrast of mixing historic shapes with modern materials, and I usually don't follow modern fashion houses, but I ACCIDENTALLY happened upon MOSCHINO fall/winter 2020 collection ( www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/fall-2020-ready-to-wear/moschino/slideshow/collection#1 ), and nearly had a heartattack considering how it hits the nail EXATLY on the head for me idea-wise (Jeremy Scott is clearly 'IN... THE... KNOW...' 🧘‍♂️🔮🧘‍♂️😄), but it's sadly only women's clothes... 😕 ...but, um... - it doesn't have to be!... 😉😁😀

    They're overall just an off shape, a higher waist would have been more appropriate so they can hold on at your waist and hips but hang off you, that's what they were in the 30s-40s which is a veery comfortable time for menswear

    Looking good C. Mixing up vintage pleat with vintage mobster. 😂Look at their pants from the 70’s. No belt loops and made with some type of a stretch fabric. I think it was mens golf attire. Bottom line. Man or woman. You’ll look great in pleats if your thin and you will wear them well. #truth

  • @en1909s9iah

    I think you need to make a mock up first with no side pockets, so you can taper the sides enough so it's 'tight' as pants are made today, and still be able to have perceivable pleats at the front, after you tapered enough, you simply add the pockets to your final pattern. simply adding extra fabric for pleats just won't do regarding fitting for modern pants, it will make your upper front roundish (as older generation pants usually are, like grandpa pants).
    Thicker fabrics are most suitable for these, I think. I've done some for me, with wool, but they are such a hassle to keep ironed, that I hardly wear them... a shame really.

    • @CorneliusQuiring
      @CorneliusQuiring  4 роки тому +1

    reason it looks off is because of possible drape issues and the fact that the pleats are flaring open without you being seated or it being tight around the waist. that isn't good.
