The reason they aircraft follow the line so closely is because there needs to be a clearance between the wingtip of each aircraft, so as to avoid any collisions as well as so that ground services such as catering, baggage handlers and refuellers can easily access the aircraft. And the chicks that they place under the wheels are there as more of a backup in case the parking brake fails, and believe me when I say they are quite capable of preventing an aircraft from rolling
How on earth do they follow those lines on the ground so precisely, and why do they use those tiny bits of wood under the wheels (chocks?) - how is that going to stop a huge plane?! :)
Yes I have! It is very generous of people such as yourself to film all this stuff (which does take time & effort) & then posting it for all to enjoy. It is very much appreciated!!
Ahhh Good Old VH-VXD *Tentefield* i flew on that plane twice in it's Old Livery Once from Sydney To Alice Springs As QF790 and Once from Alice Springs To Adelaide As QF722 A Beautiful Old Girl

That must have happened recently as we flew on the XG on Sun 14th July.
