Tyvek or other WRB has nothing to do whether or not there is conditioned space inside the wall. It has everything to do with protecting the structure. The R703.2 requires that an approved water-resistive barrier is applied, according to manufacturer’s installation instructions, over studs or sheathing of every exterior wall. The approved water-resistive barrier must be continuous to the top of walls and stopped at openings and building appendages in a way to meet the requirements of the exterior wall envelope described in Section R703.1.
I just got a 100 shingles, I was working my way through the bundle using 5" singles (first "tab" width) then I hit a batch of 7". if you stagger them per Hardie (normal wall -starting from left 16" off 32" etc) and mix and match these different patterns the gaps get too close (less than the 1 1/2 inch hardie recommends). I thought it was a mistake!!!! I thought they sent me old inventory. Have you run into this problem???? @johnFLopes asked about this, so it's an issue.

Looks good but why didnt you wrap the gable?
No underlayments to a cement/fiber board!? That's an absolute no-no!
Should of wrapped that osb up and ran the soffit first j won't lay flat on layered Hardie
What type of nails/nail gun did you use?

You’re supposed to alternate them one 5 inch panel one 7 inch panel one 5 inch panel one 7 inch panel
No flashing where two pieces meet?
Not needed for Hardie shingles. You might be thinking of Hardie plank where there’s a flashing between the joints.
Paper that wall!!!!!
Does it matter if it’s 7” or 5” singles ( I’m talking about the first shingle )

I understand now. I'm not familiar with the single Hardie shingles. I'm in Canada and nobody sells them up here.
Alternate them
Wow all that money on the siding and no wrap on osb. Really?
not a living area; just attic
what tool do you use to cut?
Fiber cement shears. I usually purchase dewalt or makita cordless type.
That would be nice if you put tape under the seams
WTF! No house wrap?
House wrap on insulated walls, gables don’t get house wrap cause its only attic behind.
@@calebhenry-countryhomeexte6535 wood thar will potentially get went with the siding sweat
Yes they need wrap
