I watched Jungkook of BTS make the potato banchan 😂😂😂 his was a cute failure only because it got stuck on the plate! He would tip the place over and the potatoes would not fall!! I knew I had to watch your version 😂😂 to make it right!!
I have the same little bowls from Costco! I love them 😊 thank you so much for this recipe. I just tried one a few days ago and it was meh - nowhere near as wonderful as this looks. I can’t wait to try it again using your method!
@@yanikkunitsin1466 Yes 👍 Glazes are used for so many dishes, both meats and vegetables. Many Asian dishes, including Korean dishes, use glazing sauces.
@@cerebrumexcrement Hi 👋 Hoisin sauce is great and delicious, but it will yield in different taste with this dish. Beef dashida will be better alternative to oyster sauce.
@@HTMLguruLady2 No, adding fish sauce will yield in a completely different taste. You can substitute beef dashida (Korean beef bouillon powder), YonDu (Korean plant based flavor enhancer), or msg.
@@tinamorgan5099 You can do that if you want, but the butter won’t melt with the premixed sauce. Adding the butter right at the end with the sauce helps to thicken the sauce as it melts.
I just bought a bag of baby potatoes & scallions, and I have everything else in the pantry. I think this will be part of dinner tomorrow.

In Western cuisine it's called glazing and works with many root and other vegetables, e.g. Carrots Vichy or Cippoline in Agrodolce (sweet-sour onions)

The sauce thickened in the pan so quickly from the potato starch from the potatoes.

I think this would go good with some baked chicken too.
@@reneebledsoe3357 Yes🙌. It is a bit salty so with rice, it is a great combination
I could definitely have this with a small portion of Korean fried chicken. 😇😇😇

great alternatives to oyster sauce are hoisin sauce or sweet soy sauce.
@@cerebrumexcrement Hi 👋 Hoisin sauce is great and delicious, but it will yield in different taste with this dish. Beef dashida will be better alternative to oyster sauce.
Oyster sauce in recipes is always a problem for me as I have to work out what to substitute for it.
Can the oyster sauce be substituted with fish sauce?

Why not just add the butter into the sauce to start with?
