Is a Shepard Fleet Good? - Starsector
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 гру 2022
- The earliest and possibly the easiest early game carrier to attain. The Shepard, drone tender extraordinaire. Does a pretty decent job for that early game grind. But how would it stack up in late game? Against a real threat? And what if... What if we had a whole fleet of them? Dumb idea right? ... WRONG! well, maybe. I mean just watch the video.
Enjoy!

Give praise to our early game work horse. She just doesn't get the credit she deserves.
No. It's not good. Funny. But not good
She has her good points! Definitely bottom tier 😂 but some redeeming qualities.
Queen papa casually killing 200+ crewman because he/she couldn't be bothered to spend 5 seconds traveling to a planet
Time is money! Or in this case, time is shepards! The queen while noble and gorgeous is also kind of a b*tch... Power will do that to a lady boy...
Ain't no papa queen got time for that!
Most nostalgic part of this game are the cosy little early game moments of putting big brains into achieving smol victories, and shepard my beloved, that ship is an icon
Amen haha. Once you get the game down it's almost too easy to advance imo. I greatly enjoyed the early game ass kicking 😂
Shepherds and Mules are the backbones of my early game fleets where I start poor. God bless those little boats. A couple mods have some fun shepherd reworks and with better deserved S-mods, you can make a few that may still be tagging along with an end-game fleet just for the storage space and salvage rig.
Ah! A man of culture and fine taste i see 😎. Early game is some of the most fun imo. Scrounging for whatever duct taped piece hunk of metal you can get your hands on.
Do you recall which mods have the variants?
Mules are great. Extra cargo space and can be thrown into battle if need be. Love em. Not even a civilian hull.
There’s something amazing about you going thru with the idea and showcasing a royal ass beating xD
😅 I'm glad you enjoyed it lol. It's definitely more about the journey sometimes than the destination haha.
The shepard is great cus it has a salvage gantry
And if you get two you can put surveying equipment on both to cut early game explore costs
Bam! Even more reason to love these lil guys haha.
@@PapaCheddar yeah it saves money for the whole game
Amen to that. Thats a good early game tip for a would be explorer.
That's the ONLY reason I keep 1 or 2 Sheps early-game.
Should've manually set Eliminate orders instead of Fighter Harassment ones.
I never said i was good at SS 😅
I actually did this in my most recent playthrough... I used an "anchor" as grumpy calls it, something to tank the damage. Worked well for me, but I wasn't fighting teseracts, lol.
😂 may need more than an anchor for tesseracts lol. You enjoy the Sheppard spam?
Modding the ini for a larger fleet size makes this viable, though you will need 3 or 4x that number you currently have . . . . XD
Haha no kidding 😂 would need a full blown armada of the bad boys!
All Shepard fleet? You know when you pour a fizzy drink and you get a big head on it. If you get close to it and see all the bubbles popping, you can hear the fuzz as it fizzles away to nothing leaving a flat dark plain drink behind?
Thats you! :D
🤣 hey I'll take what i can get haha
Excellent, quality lunch hour content! This helps me resist the urge to play it while I'm working 😂
Good timing 😂 play it all day everyday I say! But I am heavily biased haha.
me when i encounter a battlestation: *hesitant to engage despite owning two capital ships and a dozen other ships, most of which have officers*
this guy when he encounters a battlestation: Yeah 69dp worthy of shepherds should be more than enough
With the magic number on my side how could I lose?!
...well I guess exactly how I did lose would be how...
One day this channel is going to get huge
Love the work bruh
Thank you so much. I really appreciate that and I'm glad you enjoy the videos 🧀
I'm convinced that alarm clocks were designed by a secret society of sadists.
100% spitting fiery facts fam
My man just sold an onslaught with S mods
I am truly afraid
Wildcard bubba! Gotta keep em guessing 😂
Side note. I did back up my saves haha. So its like it never happened.
There is a mod that limits your fleet by DP rather than ship count, must-have for frigate swarms
That'd be way better. Have an actual zerg haha. I'll have to look into that next time I do a swarm run.
@@PapaCheddar Use it with LP Gremlins armed with Reapers. It is not a meme- you are going in the right direction, your dream is already a reality
Yo, my idea from the Kite video got used!
That's right 🤪 the real swarm was unleashed!!!
Unleashed then... Completely destroyed haha. But unleashed nonetheless!
I love me some drone tendies
They are the most tender of tendies 😂
Omg this is the funniest. As anyone tried an all Shepard "fleeet" from the beginning to see how far you can get. Would be great if the borer drones could be upgraded or substituted for another fighter type.
Altering the drones would be awesome. Might even make them more viable lol.
Oh God he sold alien tech...
Seemed like they really needed it...
Sure they do for Domitantion :D @@PapaCheddar
Kite & Shepherd fleet next?
😂 haha well, it'd probably fare atleast a little better than this.
@@PapaCheddar The shepherds could support the Kites army a little bit😂
They need all the help they can get lol
God bless your storytelling
😂 thank you. I'm glad you enjoy it.
@@PapaCheddar and thank you
Engine Juice?
Try Engizz.
I will see myself out...
😂 i love it
Been playing 96a (sseths serial lol I'm poor) with Nexlerine and about 30 other mods on a i7 quad core 4ghz with 16gb ram and a shitty 1 gig vid, tends to slow down pretty bad, but I just love the mods.
how long does it take you to load the game? hahaha. I noticed as soon as I started going mod heavy the load time... just went full slug mode...
Maybe early game?
More so than late for sure haha. Early game I'd consider one or two a solid pick.
Should mod the file to have like 100 or 200 Shepard in a fight and have a rematch
I like that idea. Though editing game files scares me 😂 from what I've read though it doesn't seem too arduous to do.
@@PapaCheddar All it is is changing a number, the file is all listed and just gotta contrl F to search what wanna change. Such as battle size or fleet capacity. Not sure if you ever added more available RAM or unlocked the fps limit by editing the files, but i highly recommend it.
I have not done any of those things aha. Isn't there a limit to how much ram you should do? I vaguely remember seeing a post saying don't go above X for whatever reason.
Though I'm now going to look into these things. My PC doesn't have issues with SS really, but every little bit helps. Especially bigger fleet size. Maybe even revisit the kite meta lol.
@@PapaCheddar Reference to what limit of RAM, I looked online and there are dev post in forums to change the amount of RAM you want available for SS to use. I have 32gb of RAM and use the highest one they had linked.
Using handful of mods consumes a bit of RAM, but once I changed the limit, any issues I had such as saving/loading/doing things were fixed.
Also, some of the quality of life mods from the dev post in the forums are nice little bits that just improves the functionality of the game. Especially with the speed mod. (Can adjust "speed-up" time flying around AND have the function while in a fleet fight to make the "in-battle" time shorter or watching the AI go nuts on easy annoying fights at 20x the speed hahaha
Nice, ill check the dev forum out then. Thank you. Since adding mods my load time did increase a tad haha.
20x sounds like itd make you dizzy. But I sure wouldn't mind more speed in the overworld going between planets lol. Especially on long voyages.
I would rather be shot my a 9 than a 22. The 22 is going to bounce off bones and go thru organs you will be shot in the belly and have it exit between your shoulders. Better to have a bullet go clean thru hitting 1 organ and then out that 3 organs and out.
Truth. Honestly tho i dont want to get shot by anything 🤣
@@PapaCheddar I had a chunk of a 22 stuck in me for 11 years before I had it removed. Even tho it was such a small piece it felt like I was hit with a hammer.
@@WhatWouldVillainsDo goddamn brother. I imagine. I mean she small but she still gunna hurt for sure 😂 hell cats got bb guns thatll make big boys turn n run.
Glad you alright tho bae ❤️
@@PapaCheddar Ive worked as a butcher had 2x amputations and surgical reattachments by the time I was 20. Also been stabbed 3 times in a robbery. Once you have been thru so much trauma you don't react the same anymore and a good portion of shock is mental like 25% at least in most cases but you start to develope other problems. I'm not saying I was a super bad ass but I could go thru some serious injury's and be pulled into the emergency room they run vitals and be floored my heart rate and blood pressure was perfectly normal not even a hint of shock. Once you been shot or had something cut off it changes you mentally in ways I can't almost describe. I see a therapist regularly, I refuse to take medications tho makes you feel like walking around with a head full of rocks. I really think more awareness needs to be cultivated in our society about people who have had traumatic injury, it's a journey that once ya start you can't stop. Hope you never get shot or stabbed or anything cut off either lol.
@@PapaCheddar I just realized I posted this in the wrong channel lol.
But I do play Starsector..bring death and PTSD to the galaxy. I had been watching balstic tests of 22 lr today and looking at Starsector videos..you did mention 22s tho lol.
Omen spamm when?
Omen spam might actually mess some stuff up haha.
Chem trails, lol
😅 they do exist! And they killed so many of my crew! Definitely the chem trails that killed them... Yep...
I would Just Make Ships On my Pl+net and Use them (Now I will use every day more Ships Sm+ll and B+g to see what works.. Just one B+g Guy or Mu+tiple Kite Like Ships? Tr+e+at them As Exp+ndable where you Tell the Prisoners if you come out of the Fight You are Free.)
I play the Game and Make K+eping Crew Alive Number One but with smaller ships you always L+se some.. h#ey h#o that is StarSector
Some Random words get Flagged and the Comment Chain was deleted but not with + or #
Yt does that so often it ain't even funny. It's a problem on every single one of my videos. Really annoying actually haha. Even my replies get deleted.
Yeah Only some People will Notice their Comments Gone I post alot Twitter Reddit UA-cam is the only one what is censoring randomly.
That alone makes good People not to show up on Channels already low anmount of people come to videos (Only Lucky or Promoted People show up to other Random User) but heck the rest of the Comments get censored?? This is just Abusing the Tech @@PapaCheddar
So I have to Refresh and See if comments are even there the small thing what is positive in that whole mess is that comments are deleted under 30 Seconds and not say 2 Hours where you forget about them and wonder why do i never get Replies?
Also the cap are like 500 Comments but you get a Reply after some weeks and don't even know the context so you have to open 10 Comments at a time to get the context Imagine over 200 Comments @@PapaCheddar
Spitting facts brother haha. Its my biggest pet peve with yt. I do my best to reply to everyone. But like you said if its an old video and i don't get a notification its rare i see it. Once every month or so I'll go through some of my old videos just to check and theres almost always something missed.
