I'm guessing the 4 people who disliked this video don't believe in Mermaids. Weird. This cake looks outstanding! I wish I had half the skills to pull something like this off for my niece..
Flamingo cake next! This mermaid cake was beautiful, I'd love to see how you would decorate with a flamingo color palette. Ohhh, maybe with some of those big green palm leaves that are so trendy now. Pink and green, Miami-ish, flair. People would buy that right now
I really love you francais accent, it is so posh. Also, your cake decorating, which reflects self-calming, concentration, creativity, and planning process. Your are really awesome Jemma and your team.
You have the patience of Job to make all those sea creatures and sea shells from modeling fondant. It’s fascinating to watch you create so many different and cute elements. Super creative idea. Work of art. Excellent video.
Your cakes are always my inspo!! How did you make the bubbles for the sides? And what cake recipe did you use? I always use the one you did for a valentines cake you did aaaaages ago xx
Who the heck would dislike this vid, or her skills or Her! Am in love with all of it! I will try to attempt it for my daughter’s birthday (as Jemma makes you believe one can do it too). Jemma, how long does it alllllll take. From start to finish. Plz? X
It's so pretty! I gave a little squeal of delight at the cuteness of the dinky shells. They're so little! I love that this doesn't involve fancy techniques and equipment, just some clever and creative moulding and modelling of sugar paste! Did anyone else giggle at the words "meringue poops" or is that just my childish sense of humour?
thank you cupcake jemma your video was verry helpful i made a mermaid cake for a friend using your video i wish could post a pic off the cake but i dont know how but my mermaid cake came out quiet nice so thank you
Omg I also am in love with this cake!!!! I’m going to try this next month but with a baby shark instead of mermaid since it’s for my baby boy’s first birthday! LOVE 🧜🏼♀️🧜🏼♀️🧜🏼♀️🧜🏼♀️🧜🏼♀️
Hiya. Thanks for all of the videos. You've helped me to love baking. Thank you. I have a question. Did you fill your cake with SMB as well as the coating? Thanks, Jo.
From one cake lady to another....you can torch your buttercream to get a super smooth layer. And I mean torch your entire cake. Spin and torch. It changed my life!!
This turned out so pretty . Did you use pearl sugar for bubbles? I was wondering if you used solid sugar to decorate around the mermaid tail. It is a beautiful cake and I love it. Thanks for sharing this wonderful cake.
How nice if i could watch this in April. Haha.. i made a terrible mermaid theme cake for my birthday last month. But i didn't quite like the outcome. Hahaha... Once again you did great Jemma! Love it!
i wont believe this .. this is exactly or somewhat same cake that i mad for my daughters 9th Bday on 3rd March. urs is much much more neater and better
No, I only refrigerate cakes during the crumb coat and before handling if I’m stacking them. Or if it’s a really hot day and I need to transport it. Sugarpaste/fondant goes sweaty when it comes out of the fridge sometimes so if you do refrigerate a cake with sugarpaste on it take it out a couple of hours before you need it so it has time to dry out
I think children would want to eat the beautiful decorations. I know that fondant can be eaten but, if you’ve added cmc or gumpaste, are they no longer edible?
thanks for all your recipes and tricks. Love them all. I have recently stumbled upon some licorice powder. Could you give us some recipes ideas please, either savory or sweet, i would be interested in both of them. Thanks a mil in advance.
Hi Jemma,, I've just found you on you tube and loving your videos. I wondered if you would be able to cover a Gluten Free Victoria sandwich. This would be amazing. Thank you for all the hard work behind the scenes xx
Hello Jemma!! My birthday is the 16th of May and I want to make my own cake. I want to add "water droplets" to the flowers, is it just like glucose, or piping gel? What is IT? Please and Thank you!!
Help Jemma! I've been asked to make a cake for a friend which will be on a long car journey in August. I originally wanted to decorate with buttercream but will it withstand the journey?
Hey jemma love your videos! i was wondering can you use fondant with the molds too? i cant seem to get sugar paste here easily and can i use corn starch instead of corn flour? thank you :D
Hey there, corn starch is the same as cornflour, just different names in the US compared to the UK. :) Fondant will work with the molds but just won't dry so hard and firm. So it would work better for the smaller items and things attached to the cake sides, but your mermaid's tail might not stand up so strong. You could use white chocolate instead maybe, for anything that needs to stand strong.
I'm guessing the 4 people who disliked this video don't believe in Mermaids. Weird.

It’s amazing Jemma. Can u please suggest me what type of cake sponge and filling I can do in this cake please
That is soooo good Jemma.Thank you for showing us ❤️🐬🍰🎉🐳❤️
Fabulous cake Jemma, is there are chance that the fondant decorations would soften if left in contact with the buttercream. ?
Love the mermaid tail 😍
Its my birthday in two weeks! You are my inspiration because I love baking and you teach. Me to do more
I love mermaids, I'd love that cake on my next bday
Very nice dessert Jemma! Have a nice day! 👍👏🍴
Hey lovely.. Do you make your own sugar paste?? Any recipe for it??
I don’t, we go through so much of it at the bakery it would take too long! Also, store bought sugarpaste is just better and more convenient 😅
So far, This is my favorite cake!!!!
Hiya.
Thanks for all of the videos. You've helped me to love baking. Thank you.
I have a question.
Did you fill your cake with SMB as well as the coating?
Thanks,
Jo.
I did! But you can use regular buttercream if you don’t want it so rich. 😉
I was told SMB wasn't as sweet as regular buttercream (icing sugar and butter) so I'm going to give it a try.
Thanks again.
So cool! My daughter would love this cake!
My daughter has decided she wants a Paris themed birthday party this year. Any suggestions on the cake?
ahhh!!! screaming using my inner voice lol!!!
is there a way for me to use fondant instead of gum paste??
From one cake lady to another....you can torch your buttercream to get a super smooth layer. And I mean torch your entire cake. Spin and torch. It changed my life!!

A masterpiece! Have you sold it?
Love it! I actually just posted my first mermaid cake on my channel this week. 😁 Great minds! Love your channel.
Do you put it in the fridge after putting on the fondant?
No, I only refrigerate cakes during the crumb coat and before handling if I’m stacking them. Or if it’s a really hot day and I need to transport it. Sugarpaste/fondant goes sweaty when it comes out of the fridge sometimes so if you do refrigerate a cake with sugarpaste on it take it out a couple of hours before you need it so it has time to dry out
This mermaid approves! It's gorgeous! Xxx
Wow Jemma!! It's amazing😍😍😍 thanks for sharing!!
Just curious if Narwhals are a big thin there? My niece has SO many plush toys! Have you done a Narwhal cake?
How much tragacanth do you add to the sugar paste ??
This is amazing ... the only problem is that i don't have the talent for that!
It looks beautiful!

Jemma this is beautiful!
So crumbs & dollies make their own sugar paste? If yes, a tutorial please?
Can we chill the cake after décor? Will the fondant sweat after the cake is removed from the fridge?

Hi Jemma, I have not tried any mold yet but will the shells break if you let it dry before taking them out?
No but then you can only make one shape at a time. 🤷🏻♀️
@@CupcakeJemma lol very true. thanks for the reply and awesome day to you
