I am still trying to understand how it makes a betrayed spouse feel better if their cheating spouse flout the excuse that they had an affair because they had a bad childhood.
I was physically, emotionally & sexually abused from ages 2 1/2 - 13.
I’ve been married 28 years and NEVER cheated on anyone in my LIFE.
I have plenty of baggage but I know right from wrong!!
I don’t care WHAT happened in your childhood.
Using that as an explanation as to why you cheated?!
I call B.S.!
Cheaters will do ANYTHING to avoid owning their stuff 100%.
Grow up and take accountability!
If they're 'flouting' it, that's a big problem. And it shouldn't be viewed by the betrayed or betrayed as an excuse. But there are factors that led to feelings that led to actions. Even though those feelings and factors don't excuse the actions, they are worth understanding and examining.
It's hard to move forward, when they won't give you closure.
