I think Eddie being the face of the band has allowed the members to avoid a lot of the pitfalls of the rock and roll/heavy metal "lifestyle" that has wrecked so many other bands, and also kept any one member from thinking they are the "star" of the band. One of the best management decisions in the history of popular music.

It's actually funny what he said at the end because they actually did that. If you take a look at the album booklets until the album A Matter of Life & Death, (you can even take a look on the Discogs website for convenience) they used to have actual photos of them. Until the album The Final Frontier, it's when they only had like a photo of them in the dark. And in The Book of Souls album, they also had a picture of them but with some digital effect and a pyramid behind them. They pretty much started using more art on the booklets to compensate the lack of photos and to make them more interesting to look at, I guess. So I imagine the guys talking about how they wouldn't use photos anymore, because of how crap they think they looked.

@@pilotamurorei The problem with this statement is in the statement. "When he's on his game". Bruce is always on his game. Whether he's sick, injured, tired, beginning or end of the tour, he's extremely consistent. Huge Rush fan with a big appreciation for Maiden. He hit it on the head; the essential difference between Rush and Maiden. When you break them down musically they're so similar. The themes, the historical inspiration for lyrics, the attention to detail, the integrity, etc. Maiden just presents it more, like he said, in your face...and with a bit more theater.

James Florin The minute I heard Speed of Light, I immediately turned away. A song THAT FUCKING SLOW does not deserve the title "Speed of Light." Listen to Stratovarius' Speed of Light, now THAT'S what a song called "Speed of Light" should be called.
And no, I have been bitten once too many times by Maiden, I am done with them. they can't write music anymore, and they STILL refuse to play Flight of Icarus on tour. Until they play FoI again, they won't even get 3 seconds of my attention.
