- This Halloween, we revisit one of the most iconic Monk Halloween episodes where a serial killer is seemingly targeting people through voodoo dolls... including Natalie. We hope you all have a spook-free and curse-free weekend.
Monk is streaming now on Peacock: pck.tv/3JuixBg
Season 8, Episode 7, "Mr. Monk and the Voodoo Curse": A voodoo curse seems to be at work when dolls sent to San Francisco residents accurately predict inexplicable deaths, including possibly Natalie's. Meat Loaf guest stars.

Adrian Monk (Emmy®-winner Tony Shalhoub) was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, legendary for using unconventional means to solve the department's most baffling cases. But after the tragic and still-unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, the devastated Monk becomes obsessive-compulsive. His psychological disorder has caused him to develop an abnormal fear of virtually everything: germs, heights, crowds... even milk. Monk's condition costs him his job, but he's back as a police consultant despite the unique challenges he encounters in his everyday life. These challenges lead Monk to hire a personal nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram), who is always there to offer her assistance, even with the simplest of tasks (like organizing his sock drawer). Her less-than-subtle prodding keeps the "defective detective" on track in his investigations, as well as in his efforts to convince Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to allow him to return to the force.

"I'll go with you." In a tiny, cramped area with other humans and bodily fluids. He really does care.
Two-way street
That's because Monk wants her, Monk needs her, but there ain't no way he's ever gonna love her.
There are different types of love. He absolutely loves Natalie, but not in a sexual way. He even said in an episode that she reminds him of Trudy.
@@ChromeCobra420 it was a joke because the guy playing the voodoo doctor is Meatloaf. He has a song called "two out of three ain't bad." You should listen to it.
the way he caught , snd held on to her...
For those confused: She only killed the third victim. She mailed the boxes to herself to get an accurate post mark, then she'd make a Voodoo doll of dead people who died in ways that couldn't be interpreted as homicide (struck by lightning, baseball accident) she saw at her paramedic job and placed the boxes in their houses to make it look like a prediction. Then she poisoned her uncle to make it look like a heart attack killed him. That way, people would associate it with some supernatural killer.
It's amazing I can still remember this episode so well after I last watched it.
But why did she want to kill Natalie?
@@harringt100 I think she was just trying to scare them off the case.
Okay, but how did she get an authentic post mark on the packets?
@@dr.bartfratze9354 She mailed them to herself. Then she took the postmarked boxes to the victim's homes to make it look like they got the boxes earlier.
@@JesseGolo Wouldn't the address on the packages be wrong then?
I absolutely cracked up when Natalie drank the potion and Meatloaf panicked.
Shows he's as good an actor as he is a singer.
That was Meatloaf?!
@@Wolfbane8 That it was. R.I.P.
@@brandonallen3808WAIT what
@@GenocidalSquid Yeah he passed away last year.
I just love how he hugs Natalie when she falls in his arms. You can see just how much he was worried and cares for her.
🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍😍
That's the scene @YunaBlanca often uses in her wonderful clips in honor of Tony Shalhoub.
Props to whoever edits the vids for this channel to get the juiciest parts of every episode.
I was going to say the same thing.
@@wherami same
RIP Meatloaf.
Had no idea he was in this clip. What a fantastic surprise
What?
@@jwill5892 the priest name is meatloaf
I second-guessed myself like 3 times watching this. "Is that Meat Loaf? Didn't really sound like him there, but is it him??"
The way monk takes care of Natalie in this episode is so sweet. Happy Halloween everyone
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
It is lovely. A lot more you can see in the videos of Yuna Blanca. Compilations of cute Monk scenes with Natalie.
Natalie's scared of voodoo because her husband Mitch was shot down after ignoring a warning from a voodoo priestess.
Ah that's explains why must have missed that
@@ryanadams0922 it wasn't shown here.
2:04 I like how Randy has that moment of showing that while he’s goofy, he’s still capable as a cop considering he’s aware of the importance of using gloves when handling evidence (that the Sergeant completely forgot about)
No, he used a knife and Lt. Disher's gloved hand.
@@ussxrequin I was talking about the sergeant who handed over the box with his ungloved hand, not Captain Stottlemeyer
I love Randy silently telling off the police sergeant for not wearing gloves while handling evidence. It's a tiny thing, but with so many shows where people just pick stuff up with their bare hands, it's nice that someone acknowledges that's not what you're supposed to do.
Edit: 2:00
I love the end when he's throwing graveyard dirt into the ambulance.
I love the Exorcist shot that they did there. Happy Halloween everyone
At which moment there is the Exorcist shot?
@@Naven251 5:27 the Exorcist reference in this scene
I doubt most people picked up on that! I was checking the comments to see if anybody did before I posted lol
Oh my goodness, of course!!
Happy Halloween 2022. 🤗
When I first watched this episode, during the scene at 4:40 my dad just said 'You know, it's the final season, they could just kill Natalie off.' That's how this became the scariest episode for me (at least at the time). I was on the edge of my seat until Monk solved it.
It's actually a pretty creative case, such a surreal and spooky buildup to a really elaborate and yet anticlimactic whodunnit.
Just want to say Meatloaf did an awesome job in this too. This was one episode I was really wondering about how the killer did it.
It’s funny how Monk couldn’t concentrate on the first voodoo doll death until the squad room furniture was put back to its original state. The captain was so irritated.🤣🤣🤣🤣
i never thought there could be a detective show could ever come close to Columbo. i was wrong. Monk was a refreshing addition to television. brilliant characterisation and quality stories with hilarious comic relief.
AGREED!! 💯
Captain : i'll open it
Took knife and grab Randy's hand to open the box. Hahahhaha....love his attitude towards Randy.
That's why he's a captain. Now only his knife and Randy will be cursed.
2:35 the way Capt grabs Randy's hand to open the other side oml im dead 😭😆😆
I honestly remember being so confused by this Episode when I first watched it
A whole summary of the case? Nice!
I never missed a single monk I’ve seen every single episode from season one to season eight please Monk come back
meatloaf such an underrated actor. dude can be serious but he can also ham it up and have fun
Of course! Didn't you watch him in Rocky Horror?
Man I recently just rewatched all the episodes and will have to go through them again sometime soon one of the only shows where I loved the ending and never felt any bad seasons
I was wondering if you can help me? Is there an episode where it talks about how Natalie tried to clear Mitch’s name? I can’t remember.
@@maribelnlopez3933 Closest I can think of is a later season (I believe 7) where they go on a Submarine and they help Mitch's friend on an alleged suicide that turns out to be murder but what youre saying does ring a bell so Ill see if I can think of the episode
@@maribelnlopez3933 I cant recall any further information on Mitch besides when she first tells Monk how hes seen as a coward in the Navy for abandoning his fellow soldiers but after that I dont think they mention too much more of him outside just general references like in Monk is on the run where he takes his Uniform but I dont believe they ever clear his name
@@DetectiveJones Thank you so much for helping me out
When she was running for the school board, she mentions that Mitch's buddies said he took all supplies and abandoned them, making him a coward. That is why she didnt quit after the bomb in her fridge that Monk had to open the door for and straighten after he threw it in there initially.
Anyways, she wanted to be couragous for Julie because the Navy said Mitch was a coward on record.
5:25 I liked The Exorcist reference here. Big horror fan here
Congrats! Few did. Was checking to see how many. Went over the heads of almost everyone:)
Classic case of someone masking the true victim with either an elaborate scheme or making it look like a serial killer is responsible.🙄
I do feel really bad for Natalie though.😥
"What are we having for dinner after the exorcism?" "MEATLOAF!"
*"AGAIN??"*
Just shows you that he would do anything for love.
This episode was crazy. Even with all the elaborate plans before I had no idea how this was done and I was on the edge of my seat wondering how it would end.
RIP MEATLOAF..
One of my favorite episodes..YOU WERE HILARIOUS😂
Meatloaf was awesome. RIP to a legend.
The priest was singer meatloaf lol. I loved him!
I wouldn't have known that. Thanks for pointing it out!
"I'll do anything for love but I don't believe you do this "
@@danielenyel3542 lol that song was my first tape I bought on my own lol.
Well hot patootie, bless my soul!
"He opens the box, sees the doll, Bob's your uncle (snaps finger), his heart just stops."
BOB'S YOUR UNCLE 😂
Some people believe you have to hang horseshoes facing downwards so the devil dosen't sit in the bottom of it.
It could also be argued that a house with a downward-facing shoe is generous of spirit, because they allow their luck to flow out of their home.
You guys are honestly amazing. Thank you.
Love that "Exorcist" sight gag.
I just love these clips of the episodes. The show is just awesome 👌
The last time I saw the Reverend Jorgensen in a crime show that was also in San Francisco, he was a gangster from Tampa that got whacked by a Chinese Triad. (It was Nash Bridges for those wondering)
I just realized this episode feels like a nod to Agatha Christie's book "The ABC Murders." Strange phenomenon, third kill was the one that mattered, family member caused the murder, and some third party was used as a decoy for the killer.
That's what I was thinking too. Monk is a lot like Poirot so it would make sense that the writers are AC fans.
Nobody knows the hoodoo voodoo like Monk do.
I want the reruns of Mr. Monk to be added to Netflix. Can about 50 people that loves Mr. Monk, write Netflix and let them know that you want to see it on Netflix too please!!
It's NBC locking down their properties for their own streaming site, unfortunately.
Great show! Great edit!
5:24 loving the homage here
that's "bat out of hell"guy, and the sublime "ghostwars".
Love Meatloaf role in monk miss him rip
R.I.P Meatloaf a great musician and actor
The voodoo guy seems a perfect fit for Meat Loaf ngl.
I thought I recognized Meatloaf there! And it is him!
Tony Shaloob and Meatloaf are the only actors I recognized in the trio, but two outta three ain't bad.
Y’know, I wonder if this whole episode was a reference to Agatha Christie’s “The ABC Murders”. It has some connections, after all, it wouldn’t be too out of left field, remember “Three Pies”? It was based off a Sherlock Holmes short story “The Six Napoleons”
"A different ambulance, this one's cursed" heheheh
And the medic just nods as if that's the most natural response in the world. Doesn't bother checking on his partner or anything.
@@Levacque mhm
Meatloaf wandered of from paradise by the dashboard light to a ceremonial by the candlelight
A different ambulance, this one’s cursed. My dad LOL’d on that.
RIP Loaf. Sad that even in death he fell to conspiracy theories.
WTH are you talking about?
Are you suggesting that Meatloaf is being theorized that he was actually abducted by aliens and is alive and well near Alpha Centauri?
An episode with the Late Great Meatloaf! R.I.P Meatloaf!
Poor Natalie
9:18 That's a great scene IMO.
RIP, Meat Loaf. He just died at age 74.
Two Out Of Three is one of the best love songs EVER. 😇
7:29 classic American humour
R.iP Meatloaf.
Meatloaf's best role. Something not said easily, given that he was the best part in BloodRayne.
The paramedic ...interesting !
6:12 What's for dinner? Meat Loaf!
Love Meatloaf in this episode!
Yes, Happy Hallowe'en!
R.I.P Meatloaf
That sergeant was so funny.
How in the world did I recognize Meatloaf???
For crying out loud, you gotta have something from the person's body to make a voodoo doll. Same thing with pointing the bone
Well luckily, just like Voodoo magic, this story isn't real.
As a responding paramedic, she'd definitely have the chance to take some hair or blood from the victims.
Also, she hung a horseshoe upside down, so maybe she's not too keen on the occult to begin with.
Wow, thanks guys for pointing out that this is Meatloaf. I didn't know that, but I found the actor incredibly likable and charismatic.
Probably the first time I saw it before Monk lol
Meat would have never helped her. He brought no _Consecrated Host_ in his assortment of arcana.
He was going to fail no matter what.
I guess heaven can wait.
I love ❤️ the reference to the exorcist 😂
Call an ambulance!... but..no another one!
This one’s cursed
NINE-ONE-ONE! NINE-ONE-ONE!!
The Exorcist nod was great.
“911…911…”
“Is that another chant?”
Lol, love the exorcist reference
I forgot meatloaf was in there. Lovely
I love how with monk ocd etc he still willing to f someone up 😂😂😂
Monk with a trunk and a dunk 😂
Ahhh it's meatloaf! ❤️
I love this ep❤️🔥
R.I.P. Meatloaf!!!
Haha Natalie could've just turned the fan off.
When a random Meat Loaf appears...
"Send more paramedics."
Why did she target Nat?
And btw isn't that Meatloaf?
Love that exorcist shot
Se podría ver en español...Monk es lo más!!!!
911 911 911 monk is that another chat? 😂😂😂😂
Classic Dodge van. I'm guessing 1965. Or maybe '64. As it doesn't have emergency flashers.
of course meatloaf knows the supernatural he dose drive he's phantom bike like a bat out of hell
Was that before or after he was defrosted in Frankenfurter's lab?
Can someone help me to where can I get full episodes of Monk?
RIP Meat Loaf
I've only ever seen a horseshoe pointing down.
She has all this medical stuff in the ambulance, things that could easily kill someone if given too much, but she resorts to trying to strangle her, which would immediately be noticed by a doctor and medical examiner. Good luck explaining how she got strangled. At least with the drugs you could argue a mistake if questioned.
SPOILER!
It wasn’t voodoo.
It’s never voodoo just like it’s never lupus.
It’s the Colonel in the library with the Candlestick
You didn’t give us the reveal and explanation.
If those were coming from a shop why not have the shop give all the records on those to find out who ordered those particular dolls
7:29 9 1 1 it s new meme 😂😂😂
Is that meatloaf the singer??
woo woo woo and he pulls out a switchblade
