There's a touching scene in this episode that seems to be missing in the clips. It's the therapy session between Monk and Dr. Kroger. Monk is rambling on about this astronaut, everything he is that Monk thinks he wants to be. Finishes up by saying that Wagner is fearless. Finally Dr. Kroger speaks: "well Adrian if he's guilty I know one thing he's afraid of......you."

Which is why the astronaut at the end of the clip acknowledged Monk with a respectful look and head nod. It wasn't a "you got me" acknowledgement but a well done because he knew about Monk's mental issues and the fucker figured him out and then ran down stood in front of a taxiing fighter plane to catch him despite his phobias, and this was after he called Monk out for his leave of absence.

But he also commit murder, one of the most cowardly act. While Monk, despite his phobia is brave.

I always had two thoughts about this bit, and yes, I know it's just a tv show. First, Monk is an unescorted civilian with a history of psychological problems - Wagner could've rolled right over him, reported a bump, then took off to dump the doll. Without the doll, there was no case against him and at worst he would probably sail right through any kind of investigation over Monk's "accidental" death. Second... Monk not swatting at those laser dots on his chests (knowing full well he could be shot for moving) must've taken AMAZING self-control given his OCD.

My thought was that you either commit a murder in front of a bunch of military personnel, or take your chance in court that the evidence you tried to smuggle away wouldn't be enough to convict. If he were to fly away in that jet, things would be a lot more complicated and potentially life-ending.

You can't refuel the jet, and this is only a test flight so it probably doesn't have enough to go all that far. Where could you possibly land that jet without being instantly recognized and arrested?

Love the Monk series! Here... I just wonder... if Wagner had opened the doll in cockpit... (or anywhere at the airport for that matter) and took the remote controler out... it would be over and totally safe for him. To have garage controler and doll separate and you can easily justify your fingerprints on it. No judge would put you behind bars for murder because of this evidence and possible explanation... so to try to get rid of the doll with remote still inside was the worst idea actually. Anyway... movie. Great episode though.
