The original game was a super rushed game, it lacked a lot of polishment… a remake needs to fix that and needs to not make new mistakes… not an easy thing to do
I respect the criticism, and I agree with some, but I see this in a MUCH better light than it seems like other people do, considering how much it already has for a TECH DEMO! I’m sure the people behind this are definitely trying their best to interpret the criticism as best as they can, and I can’t wait to see it!
lot of people pointing out this is obviously in unreal engine, and I have to say there's nothing wrong with that. unreal is a good engine if you optimize it well, and this game is super early in development anyways. the game already looks good with simple lighting, so it'll definitely get much better later on.
yeah, I agree. I get criticism but for a super early demo, the amount of content that comes with it and the quality of it as well is nothing short of impressive. if this is how it looks only now, it'll only improve and get better. all games start like this.
Yeah honestly im really liking how this is looking personally! I had no issue with it and people are kinda not giving it a chance just because of the engine. This is still early days so who knows whats to come! It already looks great there are parts that i personally feel need to be tweaked a bit animation cutscene animation wise, as maria comes off a little uncanny atm but again, with how much they have already this is really nice
@@shen_hedge trust me I know, but we can give the dev direct feedback and hopefully they can improve on it in the future. they could be trying to finalize things before optimizing it so as to save time. though, if you want really good optimization go yell at epic games to fix their engine
Cool work, especially Metal harbor looks great. The lighting can use some more passes though, it's very bright and flat, doesn't do the models and textures justice. Also Sonic's top speed seems too high for the camera to keep up at times.
Si SEGA no nos da los Remakes de los Adventure los fans los harán. Mis mejores deseos para los que están trabajando en este proyecto,se ve simplemente increíble
This looks.... AMAZING!!! I mean, I can live without the (!) going on... he ain't Solid Snake, now... but if a remake was to happen, at least use some of this!
For the dev, I'd remove the slow mo and focus after every time you hit Shadow. That should only be on the last hit. And definitely make some adjustments to the lighting. I don't hate it but it should try to replicate the original game's style in a modern way more.
There’s too many people complaining about the unreal engine being used to notice that this REMAKE’S unreal as well. Seriously this is some grade A peak.
I think that they should rework and tweak the global illumination, because for some reason i don't think the blue light from the sky is having any impact on the street. Also add jiggle physics to Sonic's quills, it'll look fantastic. Sonic Team did it with Shadow Generations and it looks amazing. Sonic model looks fantastic tho.
Hopefully, later in its development, they can improve the lighting. The gross blue fog in some levels looks pretty bad. Other than that, this demo looks great!
My problem with this is the entire environment looks like it needs to be scaled down by around 20%. Cars, the roads, just.. everything is so open and empty feeling. Sonic Adventure 2 was a tightly packed game, and while some areas look great, others are in definite need of tweaking.
I take back when I said that this seems soulless. It's clear that love went into this, without question. But doing it in unreal always has this effect. I felt the same way about kingdom hearts 3
If only we get all sonic and shadow levels and just the cutscenes of other characters it would be great I realy didn't enjoy tails eggman and knuckles and Rouge levels
Unreal Engine really blows. The Temporal Anti-Aliasing (TAA) looks like ass and the lighting is boring. While I'm at it, here are some other criticisms: - I feel like Sonic gets horizontal movement too easily in the air (speeding up where it feels like he should be slowing down without using the air dash). - I like the scale and overall idea of each level redesign, while keeping what made the originals so iconic. It's minor, but I wish you still went down a chute on a surfboard, crashing through a bunch of stuff instead of freefalling at the end of Metal Harbor, though. - I get the idea behind Shadow's cutscene. And it's a good one... But it feels goofy, and I can't put my finger on why. Maybe the way Maria runs forward towards nothing in particular and gets capped immediately? I'm pretty sure she's supposed to get shot for pulling the lever that jettisoned Shadow, and was just weary beforehand due to her illness. - I don't like the length of Shadow's Chaos Spear attack during his fight, nor that it makes it impossible to hit him regardless of what you do (unlike the other boss who, in spite of flying "out of range," can still be hit if you play right. Also unlike any of the bosses in the original SA2 - you're always supposed to be in control and capable of hitting them, it's just a matter of finding out how to hit them). - ...Why does Shadow's movement speed get affected by his own Chaos Control? He should still be going at full speed, even if Sonic isn't. Other than those, I do think it shows promise. The models and animations look sick and the controls are tight. It's a phenomenal proof of concept and extremely well-done for a fan game. It's clear the developer(s) really love SA2.
Well, it actually shows how stupidly short that forest fight was the in the original, speaking of bosses, that's one of my biggest issues with the OG SA2, there aren't that much great bosses in the game, most of them are either reused or just lame (aspecially rival battles), the only ones that truly stands out are the two biolizard boss and King boom boo. But Redux is finally does fair for theses boss by making them more of a challenge than a button mashing simulator like OG.
This may be the nostalgia fuled brain of mine but I really dislike how this looks. I get that it's a demo so it's subject to change but I just really dislike it.
Wait a minute! why is Mission Street theme {Tails Stage} is playing on Metal Harbor? {Sonic Stage} so far i loved this! As much as I'm tired of remakes and remastered games i wouldn't mind a SA 1 and 2 remake because Izuka said in an interview that their were a lot of ideas that wasn't added into the game due to hardware limitations back then?
This is just adventure 2 with a better graphics A good remake looks like Generations city escape and thats the problem with most of the "sonic remakes" im not a hater just trying to make an idea to the ones that do this kind of projects to be more creative in that aspect
Yes, they really should retire the HE2. The lighting just makes everything look hazy and yellow, and it doesn't even fulfill the purpose of its predecessor HE1, which was to make the games look like a Pixar movie.
from nasa? pretty confident my 4090 can run this fine. i play emulator sonic games completely maxed out as well and those have terrrrrrrible optimization. lol
Seeing a lot of mixed comments and so far I think the project looks really decent specially the redone shadow cutscene. Though I will admit the UI looks a little bad in some places, like I strongly dislike the font on the ring counter/score counter and the life counter looks crap.
And just like that, 2024 comes to an end, thank you all so much for still being around after all these years!
How do you launch the game after it’s downloaded
The only thing I’m not a fan of is the unreal engines base lighting, I think some unique shading would make this super cool
Very cool demo!
It feels like the maps are not correctly scaled and I think the camera should be locked into certain angles depending on the location
Yes, I've mentioned this on other videos as well. Makes it feel odd and slow.

This definitely looks like an Unreal Engine game. The lighting and FPS looks exactly like Unreal Engine.
OMG Almost likes it’s made in unreal engine 😱🤯😱🤯
That’s cause it is
Sick of unreal slop tbh

ooo changing the ending of metal harbor to actually make sense is a great change
Really love the dynamic lighting change near the end of city escape.
"SEGA hire this man" type game
I want a SA2 remake now
That "Revenge" line from Shadow is so cold!!
We're starting the new year off perfectly!
This is what i remember SA2 battle looking like for the gamecube back in the day
Not complete until the Chao Garden is implemented lol
Looks great, can't wait for the finished product
This makes me CRAVE an SA2 remake.
If there's any better time for Adventure 2 having a remake, then it would be NOW
Looks FANTASTIC. Sonic Adventure 2 is the true ending to the Sonic franchise in my head canon. I will certainly be playing this!
8:10 Maria got gunned down
I couldn’t stop laughing 😭
why are sonic fans so talented
Do away with the homing noise and the MGS exclamation point over enemies lol
Yessss I was hoping there was still a Big the Cat cameo included!
Doesn't capture the feeling of sa2 at all.. except for when the camera got stuck behind a wall
Nah, SA2 has a better camera for City Escape
i never had any camera problems in city escape
camera problems ere more common in treasure hunting stages
Cool work, especially Metal harbor looks great.
The lighting can use some more passes though, it's very bright and flat, doesn't do the models and textures justice.
Also Sonic's top speed seems too high for the camera to keep up at times.
i feel like it's missing the SA2 jump sound effect, rather than using the modern sfx
Happy new year everyone
The nostalgia hits hard with this one 😢

I'll never get over how bad Unreal can make games look.
I need this info my life. I really hope this get released to play. Sega really needs to give us a proper remake.

It's bcs the lighting still has some tweaking to do as well as perfomance improvements.

That's how the Dreamcast title screen was

how do you get the dualsense controller to work for this?
Is this based on Sonic Omens' code, or do both use the same "ancestor project"?

They need to focus more on sonics movement and speed make him control good and feel good and THEN remake the worlds
They should've put the upgrades on sonic shoes. His feet look so small
Big the cat at 3:00
I hope Oban regrets making the Infinity Engine.
