    I had a small one in my bathroom. I over watered it and of course it died. Well, several months later it began to grow again without any water. Although every time I took a shower the bathroom got really steamy even with the bathroom fan on. Amazing!

      They're extremely tough and yes they don't need much water. The steam alone won't be enough, though, so you will need to give it a proper water every now and again (just much less than you were doing previously ;-) ).

    My ZZ of like 10 years just got some new shoots in the middle & looked great then they all flopped over. It is true I may have watered it a week or 2 apart just recently. If I stake it & leave it will it get stronger stems on the ones that flopped ? I am in Edmonton Alberta Canada ( dry humidity)

      They may do. But when this happened to me a few years back, the stems never really seemed to settle properly and stayed loose and not really anchored. Once day I was moving the plant and the stems flopped out and snapped. I put the stem in a vase of water and after a year it grew roots. That might be what's happening with yours, but as it's on existing growth, I suspect some rot potentially. I'd investigate. If all looks good, then yes, I'd suggest loosely staking.

    Hi, thanks for ZZ article, very informative. One question from Estonia , please🙏Zenzi & Raven in 14 cm pots bought in November, should I wait for late spring to repot?

    • @ourhouseplants
      @ourhouseplants  10 днів тому +1

      You can always repot your plants at anytime of the year (just minimize your time outside in the cold, and obviously don't do it if the temperature is too cold!). However, many plants go dormant or stop growing during Winter, so the need to repot is a lot less. Unless it REALLY needs doing (say the pot has split and potting mix is falling everywhere) I'd personally just wait until a decent warm Spring day.

      @@ourhouseplants Thank you very much for reply, was thinking exactly the same ! Also have personally long list of (unintentionally) killed Zenzi/Raven so...will wait!

    Very informative video 🪴very unique plant,however I can never successfully add a new plant to existing pot or plant a propagated stem!🙄

      Thanks for the feedback. Propagating is tough because of how long it takes. I won't do it again by choice, lol. However, if I break off a stem again by accident, I'll certainly try (and recommend others do too).

    HELP!! My ZZ plant was left behind by mistake in a different room of the house when we moved our plants for heat treatment of bedbugs and the top of it wilted. I need help getting it back to normal. Any advice?

    • @ourhouseplants
      @ourhouseplants  Місяць тому

      Yikes. They can deal with quite warm temperatures, hopefully the heat treatment has either just shocked your plant or the damage is confined just to the top sections. Make sure you give it a good drink and then all you can do is wait it out and see how it recovers / responds.

    Hello. I recently gor this plant like 3 days ago and just noticed that it has a yellow leaf which wasn’t there when i got it. Do I need to water it?

    • @ourhouseplants
      @ourhouseplants  2 місяці тому

      Maybe. But yellowing leaves are more likely to be a sign of overwatering. It could also be adjusting to its new home, or if it's just a single leaf going yellow, could be completely natural and nothing to worry about. :-)

    I noticed some leaves on my ZZ plant are yellow with spots. What would you recommend for me to do? Do I clip the leave off or do I clip the stem? Not sure what to do🤔

    • @ourhouseplants
      @ourhouseplants  Місяць тому +1

      Check for pests first. If it's all clear, I'd consider leaving the leaves alone until they go completely yellow before removing them, as it sounds like a possible slight overwatering issue. I'm limited without a photo, though. You can post one in the comments on my website article (link in description), or send me one. Contact details at the bottom of every page on my website too.

    Hello, I did not know what kind of plant I had until I ask friends on FB. My plant is in direr need of help!! I wish I could send a picture of her. The stem only goes so high then the top half of the stem shrivels and dies.. 🙁

      Great plants. What you're describing is fairly normal but you're right to be worried as it only happens with poor care or if the stem has been damaged. Follow my video or check out my more detailed article (link in description) you can post photos in the comments section there too.
